On the contrary,
Industry experts say TCS could lose the growth crown to Infosys but TCS chief N Chandrasekaran dismissed such fears.
"There is no such throne. I do not think about these things. These misses have been on the periphery. There is no reason that we will not do well. And we have no intention of not doing well,” Chandrasekaran told ET.
In the quarter ended December 31, 2015, TCS reported a net profit of Rs 6,109.5 crore, a growth of 12.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.
This was below expectations as TCS expected to post a net profit of Rs 6,023 crore in the December quarter on a revenue of Rs 27,643 crore.
"The fall in the India business was a surprise. It was worse than we expected. It was not a question of the pipeline but some of the deals we were expecting did not happen," Chandrasekaran told ET.
The TCS chief also said the company was not very conservative with the acquisition strategy.
"There is no right answer here. Sometimes you will buy, sometimes you will build internally, like we did with Ignio. It is not one or the other and you can't say that buying is the only right answer here." Chandrasekaran said.
