The concept of online ticket booking started where the ticket was booked through IRCTC website and the physical ticket was delivered through courier at the address given by the passenger.

BSNL Broadband launched its services on 14 January 2005. The minimum speed offered to the customer was 256 kbps.

Airtel introduced its 4G services in Kolkata on 10th April 2012, the first company to do so. It offered its customers the ability to use 4G via dongles and modems utilising TD-LTE technology.

On 8th February 2016, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued a ruling that prohibited telecom service providers from implementing differential pricing for data services.
