In a setback for gaming lovers in India, the government may be looking to ban the widely popular and highly addictive game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). The Indian government banned 59 Chinese mobile apps last month over security concerns. They followed it up with reportedly banning another 47 Chinese apps which were clones of the earlier restricted apps.

The government is also likely to scrutinise over 250 Chinese apps running in India — including the most popular mobile game PUBG, reported Economic Times.

PUBG was not banned in India as it is not entirely Chinese. PUBG PC was created and is managed by a South Korean Organisation called Bluehole. However, a large portion of PuBG’s distribution is handled by Tencent, a Chinese conglomerate. Moreover, PUBG Mobile is developed by Tencent. Hence the scrutiny.

Gamers in India are expecting PubG to be banned anytime soon. In case the popular mobile game is banned, people can explore these alternative apps.
