Indian fans of the battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) are waiting with bated breath for the game to make its comeback in India.

It was rumoured it will re-launch in India on November 20. However, at the time of writing this article, there has been no official announcement yet from either the PUBG Corporation or the parent company, Krafton, on the release of the game.

Meanwhile, the company has set up an official site and uploaded teasers that indicate that PUBG Mobile’s return to India is imminent.

“The teaser is going to be out tomorrow. So we can assume that the game is likely to get released before November 20,” said PUBG gamer Kronten — who is one of the faces featured in the trailer along with Dynamo and Jonathan — on November 14.

The Indian government has also been conspicuously quiet about PUBG Mobile’s return to India after the battle royale game was banned in September among the list of 118 Chinese mobile apps. According to the statement by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the game was blocked due to data privacy and protection concerns.

Pre-registrations of PUBG Mobile India are now open
Pre-registration for the PUBG Mobile India across Android and iOS were open for select users who are a part of Tap Tap game forums — a mobile game sharing community that recommends high-quality mobile games.

The pre-registration page also reveals that PUBG Mobile India’s Facebook and YouTube pages are now also live.

However, at the time of writing this article, the pre-registration window has been closed, which could mean the official launch is imminent.

Is PUBG Mobile India coming back to India?
The answer is yes, but the official launch date is yet to be revealed.

In order to comply with the norms of the Indian government, PUBG Corporation plans to set up a local office with at least 100 employees. “In addition to establishing a local office, the company will look to actively collaborate and leverage local businesses to strengthen its gaming service,” the developers said in s statement.

Krafton also plans to have some skin in the game with an investment of $100 million in India to “cultivate the local video game, e-sports, entertainment, and IT industries.” However, the date for the investment and any further details have not been disclosed yet.

PUBG Mobile India will have a few changes
As PUBG Mobile relaunches in India, it’s not going to be exactly the same as the game of yore. Until now, if you were playing PUBG for hours on end, the game would issue a warning to users to alert them to the time that has passed by. In the new version, instead of just a warning, it is likely that the game won’t allow users to enter a match after a certain number of hours.

To address the issue of violence within the game, the company also plans to introduce the ‘green blood’ effect — which is already a part of the Korean version of the game.

And, lastly, the default charter will no longer be naked for new users. In order to avoid the awkwardness of having to run around in underwear while looking for clothes over weapons, the game will now begin with automatically clothed characters.
