Apple recently launched new MacBook Pros with the latest version of M1 chips. It looks like the next-generation MacBook Air will borrow several features from the MacBook Pro models according to a new leak.

The new MacBook Air models will look quite similar to the MacBook Pro but in a thinner and lighter body, according to leaker Dylandkt. The bezels and keyboard on the Air will feature an off-white colour but it will be available in multiple colour options like the 24-inch iMac. Apple launched the new iMac earlier this year in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver. The keyboard is also said to feature full-sized keys and we might also see a 1080p webcam on the Air.

The MacBook Air will lack some features though and these could be no Face ID, no SD card slot, no HDMI port, and no fans. The leaker couldn’t confirm if Apple will continue with the notch design that it debuted on the MacBook Pro. However, it is said to come with USB-C ports, a 30W adapter and it will support MagSafe charging. Apple will also offer a binned option under the configuration options, and the MacBook will support at least two external displays. Apple is also expected to debut the M2 chip with this MacBook model.

Apple is even expected to drop the ‘Air’ from this MacBook model and it could be known as just ‘MacBook’. It isn’t confirmed if the MacBook Air lineup is being discontinued or Apple is reviving the MacBook. Launched first in 2015, the MacBook models sat between the Air and Pro models. The last MacBook model was launched in 2019.

The upcoming MacBook Air or MacBook models are said to launch sometime in the middle of 2022.
