The HP Omen 16 is a feature-packed laptop and comes with powerful hardware, including the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics.
I’ve been using the OMEN 16 gaming laptop with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics for a few days now, and here is my detailed review of the latest gaming laptop from HP.
The HP Omen 16 is priced at ₹1,34,990 and is available from HP Online store, Omen playground stores and HP retail stores across the country. It comes in Shadow Black colour option.

Pros
- Good performance
- Good display
Cons
- Dull design
- Average speakers
The HP Omen 16 features a redesigned look, featuring a minimalistic design language, an uncommon thing with gaming laptops. It comes with a matte black design with brushed metallic finish, that gives it a good look and premium feel.
At 2.32 kg, the laptop’s weight is decent for a gaming laptop and is considerably lighter than the Omen 17 which is around 2.7 kg.
The Omen 16 features a traditional all-black Omen design with the company’s logo in the middle. The matte black design makes it susceptible to dust and fingerprint smudges.
The Omen 16 comes with an RGB-backlit keyboard and the keys are very responsive, allowing you to game or type without any issues. The trackpad however seemed a bit unresponsive and you would be better off using a mouse. The laptop comes with a full-size keyboard with a number pad.
In terms of ports, the company has offered plenty of ports with the laptop. On the left side, you get two USB Type-C ports and the headphone jack. On the right side, you get a USB Type-A port.
At the back, you get the RJ-45 port, a USB Type-A port, HDMI 2.1 port and the AC port.
The company has equipped the device with ample vents to dissipate the heat.
The display is another area where the Omen 16 shines. It comes with a large 16.1-inch Full HD+ IPS micro-edge display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 165 Hz refresh rate, 7 ms response time and 300 nits of brightness, which is decent for playing indoors.
The display size and the high refresh rate make it a treat to play on the laptop. It comes with crisp and smooth visuals, offering an immersive gaming experience. I played games like Starfield, Alan Wake 2 and Counter Strike 2 on the laptop, with the device offering the best visuals in each game.
The Omen 16 is equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor coupled with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics.
The laptop is available in a single variant with 16GB (8x2) DDR5 5600 MHz RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe TLC M.2 SSD.
I tested the laptop with several games, including the recently launched Counter Strike 2, Starfield and Alan Wake 2. The laptop was able to handle these games without any issues while playing at high quality. During extended gaming sessions, the laptop heats up a little and the fan gets a bit noisy. The powerful hardware ensures that you do not face any stutters while gaming.
Coming to the battery, the HP Omen 16 is equipped with an 83Wh battery. Like most gaming laptops, the battery is one of the strongest points about the device. While you can easily browse and consume media while on the go, you may not be able to game for a long time.
The HP Omen 16 is a good feature-packed laptop that can be used for gaming as well as professional use thanks to its minimalistic design. The laptop offers good gaming performance and the display offers good visuals. If you are someone who wants a bit flashier design, the HP Omen 16 may not be the perfect choice for you.
