If you’ve been the futuristic Samsung Galaxy Fold, here’s some good news for you – its pre-orders go live in India from 11 October. But beware, this phone which literally unfolds, comes at a price of ₹1,64,999 apiece.

Samsung said that it has sold first 1,600 units on a pre-order earlier, suggesting that the demand for the smartphone is higher than estimates.

After announcing it in February this year, the Korean major had to recall the handset due to critical issues with the foldable display and hinge. And, it was re-launched earlier this month, with improved construction and fixes for all the touchscreen issues.

Galaxy Fold price in India and pre-order details

The Galaxy Fold will be available in Cosmos Black colour initially. Its pre-orders go live from tomorrow, 11 October, across 35 cities in 315 outlets.

You can pre-order your unit of the Galaxy Fold on Samsung’s official online store starting at 12 PM on 11 October. Customers who place their orders tomorrow will get the Galaxy Fold delivered at their doorstep before 20 October via a white-glove concierge service.

In addition to the online store, the Galaxy Fold pre-orders will be accepted via 315 Samsung outlets across 35 cities in India, including the Samsung Opera House in Bengaluru.

Samsung Galaxy Fold specifications

The Galaxy Fold features a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED display on the inside along with a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display on the top. The display is protected by a sheet of plastic layer that now goes underneath the improved hinge, so the phone is safe from dust and lint.

Samsung says that users can run three apps simultaneously on the display, allowing good use of its vast screen real estate. It also developed a new feature called App Continuity which allows the use of apps, as they were, before you left them.

Samsung says that it worked with Google, WhatsApp, Microsoft Office and other to make sure major apps work well with this display.

The handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset that is paired with 12GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. Samsung has also made sure you never run of cameras for your photos and videos, with a total of six cameras.

Other features of the Galaxy Fold include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 4G support, dual-band Wi-Fi ax, 4x4 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB 3.1, NFC and MST. The phone is powered by two batteries that are rated 4,380mAh in total, and there is support for fast charging – both wired and wireless.
