Oppo shows off its new slide phone concept with three foldable screens

Oppo has partnered with Japanese design studio Nendo to show off a concept slide phone with three foldable screens. These three screens can fold in different angles allowing you to fold the phone in several ways depending on your requirements.

The Oppo slide phone was shown off at the China International Industrial Design Expo. The “human centric” design philosophy of the Oppo slide phone aims to let you use the phone based on your needs, instead of forcing you to modify your usage based on the phone’s design.

It is worth noting that the Oppo slide phone and music link devices are concepts – we might never see them launch commercially. But it does provide a holistic view of what the future of smartphones and accessories might look like. Foldable phones are already available, and while the Oppo slide phone seems ambitious, it might become a reality one day.

Oppo slide phone – adapting the phone design to your needs


When completely folded, the Oppo slide phone resembles the size of a credit card.

The first unfold of the phone reveals a 40mm display, which should be adequate for checking time and notifications. It can also be placed on a dock by your bedside to act as a clock.


The second unfold uncovers 80mm of the display, ideal for taking selfies or checking out and even sending quick messages.

The third unfold reveals the entire display, allowing you to use it for all regular phone functions like multitasking, gaming, watching videos or simply browsing the web.


Oppo also showed off a stylus and a memo pad app that lets you jot down notes quickly.

The video of the Oppo concept phone also shows off different colors for the phone panels on the outside, suggesting that you could customize the colors.

All the three foldable screens are held together by three hinges, as seen in the video below.


In addition to the slide phone, Oppo also showed off a music link concept that includes truly wireless earphones, smartwatch, smart speaker, and a wireless charger.
