Mainstreaming foldable phones

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is Samsung’s latest attempt at making a foldable phone that actually makes sense and is usable in day-to-day life.

Design

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 solves many of the issues that Samsung has been facing ever since its first foldable phone in 2019. The hinge is smaller and better, as is the foldable screen, the design – this is as clean and sturdy as a foldable phone can get.

Internal display

Sports a 7.7-inch QXGA Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a crease in the middle with a 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with the company’s Ultra Thin Glass, which it claims is 80 percent stronger than the predecessor.

External display

On the outside, the device features a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display which has a 120Hz refresh rate and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Aluminum frame

The phone has an Armour Aluminum frame, which the company claims is the strongest aluminum frame yet. It comes with a matte finish, protecting it from fingerprints.

Power button, fingerprint sensor and volume rockers

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated in the power button which has been placed on the right side along with the volume rockers.

Performance

The device is equipped with the Snapdragon 888 chipset with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. It offers blazing-fast performance and handles games very well.

Primary camera

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G features a 12MP triple camera setup consisting of the main camera, ultra-wide sensor and a telephoto sensor.

Selfie camera

The device comes with two selfie cameras – a 10MP sensor for the external display and a 4MP under screen camera for the internal display.
