Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max vs Realme 6 Pro: Which device to go for?

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi today announced the launch of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in India. The devices are the successors to the last year’s Redmi Note 8 Pro and will compete against the likes of the Realme 6 Pro, the Poco X2 and more.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will be available at Amazon India, Mi online store and Mi Home stores from March 25 in Aurora Blue, Glacier White and Interstellar Black colour options.

On the other hand, the Realme 6 Pro comes in Lightning Blue and Lightning Orange colour options. The device will be available via Flipkart from March 13.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max vs Realme 6 Pro: Display

Coming to the display, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max features a huge 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with a center punch-hole design, similar to the recently launched Galaxy S20. There are minimal bezels at the front and the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

On the other hand, the Realme 6 Pro features a similar sized 6.6-inch full HD+ display. The device offers a 90Hz display compared to the 60Hz one on the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. It has a dual punch hole design for the dual selfie cameras and features Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The Realme 6 Pro is much ahead in terms of display due to its higher refresh rate.

Coming to the design, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max offers a glass back and a rectangular camera module. It has a metallic frame and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor similar to the Poco X2. The camera module at the back protrudes quite a bit.

Realme 6 Pro features a gradient glass back with a lightning pattern and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device has a vertically aligned quad camera setup at the back and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Verdict

At the end of the day, you have to choose from a device with a 90Hz refresh rate and a device with a premium design and bigger battery. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max’s competitive pricing, overall design and the big battery give it an edge over the Realme 6 Pro.
