If you go for a 1TB SSD version, the price goes up to ₹2,49,900. Meanwhile, the older MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip starts at ₹1,79,990 for 16GB RAM and the 512GB SSD variant. The laptop comes with an 8-core CPU. The price difference between these two is negligible, but still, if MacBook Pro 2023 with M2 Pro chip is out of budget, then you can get MacBook Pro 2023 with the M1 processor.
If budget is not an issue for you, then it would be wiser to go for the MacBook Pro 2023, as it comes with notable performance improvements over the last year’s model. According to Apple, M2 Pro offers a 20% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU performance when compared to M1 Pro.

The new 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Max processor has a price tag of ₹3,49,900 on the Apple website for the 32GB RAM and the 1TB SSD version which has a 12-core CPU and a 38-core GPU. Meanwhile, the older 16-inch MacBook with M1 Max processor starts at ₹2,90,300, for 32GB RAM and the 1TB SSD variant. The laptop comes with a 10- core CPU and a 32- core GPU. There is a price difference of ₹59,600 between these two models, which makes the MacBook with M1 Max chip worth considering if the M2 Max is out of budget.
However, if you want an absolute peak performance with no compromise, then MacBook Pro 16- inch with the M2 Max is faster than the M1 Max processor. Apple says the M2 Max offers 20% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU performance than the M1 Max. Also, the M2 Max comes with higher cores count, with a 12-core CPU and a 38-core GPU.
While the M1 chips are quite efficient and power packed, the numbers shared by Apple suggest that the newer chip makes processing faster. It essentially means that tasks like running a code, rendering 3D frames, exporting a high resolution videos will be accomplished slightly faster than the previous generation models.
However, on the flipside, if you don’t want the ultimate best and can do with respectable speeds, then you won’t be disappointed with last previous generation models. You can save money on these, and also wait for the prices to drop further if it’s not an urgent need.
