Phones, laptops and iPads tend to see a lot of grime in their lifetime, from fingerprint smudges to germs to spilled coffee. But you shouldn't use bleach or hydrogen peroxide to clean your Apple products, according to an update in Apple's guidelines reported on by MacRumors.

This rule applies to Apple devices including Macs, iPhones, and iPods.

Instead, Apple users should use Clorox wipes, 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes, or 75% ethyl alcohol wipes and avoid scrubbing their devices too hard or getting moisture in openings.

The guidelines also state to use soft cloths and avoid abrasive fabrics like paper towels to clean your products. Users should also avoid submerging their Apple products in liquid disinfectant or spraying disinfectant directly on the product.
