To change your Steam username, go to the Edit Profile menu.
- You can change your Steam username to change the name other people see when they look at your account, and what they'll search for to find you.
- This won't change your account name, but it will change the profile name displayed in the Steam application and in games, as well as what your friends see on their Friends List.

How to change your Steam username
1. Open the Steam application on your Mac or PC and hover your mouse over your username at the top of the screen. It's next to "Library."
2. From the drop-down menu, select "Profile."
3. Find the "Edit Profile" button on this page and click it.

4. Change your Profile Name (the topmost option) to your new, preferred name. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "Save changes."

Change your profile name with the first text field. This won't change your account name, which is only visible to you.
Steam saves all your previous usernames, to help people find you after a name change. If you don't want that, go back to your profile page and click the arrow next to your username. Select "Clear previous aliases."

Your new name will now be displayed on your profile page and in any multiplayer game you play. Note, however, that this won't change your account name - when you log into Steam, you'll still use the same username you always have.
