Music streaming app Spotify is reportedly testing a new feature which will be very much like Instagram, Snapchat’s famous disappearing stories.

According to Mashable, Spotify is currently testing the feature with certain users, and it shows celebrities talking about their favourite Christmas playlists. However, there has been no word yet from the music streaming company about the official rollout of the feature to all users.

The streaming giant has brought on board celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson, and Pentatonix for the stories feature. Spotify confirmed that it is testing the feature to Engadget.com. "At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time," a Spotify spokesperson told Engadget.

Spotify is the latest big platform to go after the stories feature, which has been adapted by everyone – Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn… you get the drift.

While Snapchat, Instagram and WhatsApp stories have been a hit, the launch of Twitter’s fleet feature as well as LinkedIn stories left many confused, and now that’s the case with Spotify too. In fact, Twitter’s fleet’s global rollout had hit pause because of multiple issues and bugs reported in the feature.

Many on Twitter went on to question why Spotify needed to add a stories feature

The Next Web said that Spotify should go ahead with the stories feature that offers music recommendations and shouldn’t go down the path where it shows artists’ videos.
