The Quibi app was installed by 300,000 users in its first day across Apple and Android platforms in the US and Canada, according to mobile analytics company Sensor Tower.

For comparison, the Disney Plus mobile app was installed 4 million times in North America on its launch day in November, according to Sensor Tower data. Quibi's downloads are just 7.5% of that. Quibi is ahead of HBO Now's first-day installs, though. That app was installed 45,000 times on April 7, 2015.

The Quibi app is currently the No. 4 free app on the App Store in the US and No. 81 overall on Google Play in the US.

Quibi, which was founded by former DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, raised $1.75 billion in funding and sold $150 million in ads ahead of its launch. Katzenberg said in June that the company would spend $470 million on its marketing campaign in the first year.

Quibi is offering a 90-day free trial to any new users who sign up by the end of April (and T-Mobile is offering some customers a free year). After that, the ad-supported service will cost $4.99 per month and the ad-free version will cost $7.99 per month.

Quibi launched with 50 original programs and plans to release 175 in its first year.
