Mark Zuckerberg has announced a paid verification for Facebook and Instagram users.

Zuckerberg is following the footsteps of Elon Musk, who is offering paid verification for Twitter as part of its Blue subscription service.

The monthly subscription service that offers verification has been dubbed as Meta Verified.

The Meta Verified service is priced at $11.99 (approx. ₹990) per month for web and $14.99 (approx. ₹1,240) per month for Android and iOS users.

The Meta Verified subscription offers a verified badge, protection from impersonation, quicker access to customer support, increased visibility and other exclusive features.

To subscribe to Meta Verified, users must have a prior posting history, must be 18 years old and submit a government ID with the same name and photo as the profile.

In addition to offering a verified badge, one of the highlights of the subscription is monitoring for account impersonation. Which is important for content creators.

The Meta Verified subscription service will be launched in Australia and New Zealand this week.

Users who have already been verified on Facebook or Instagram will not be affected by the new subscription service being introduced by Meta.
