Youtube was started as a place to go to find love. Yes, it started as a dating site for single people to make and upload videos introducing themselves and stating what they were looking for. Even the site’s domain name was registered on February 14, Valentine’s Day. Hadn’t it been a change of mind on part of the founders, our beloved youtube would have become the Tinder of the web world.

Facebook’s predecessor was named Facemash. Initially, the website was invented by four Harvard students, Mark Zuxkerberg, Andrew McCollum, Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskovitz. Zuckerberg wrote the software for the Facemash website which was set up as a type of “hot or not game” for Harvard students. The website allowed visitors to compare two student pictures side-by-side and let them choose who was “hot” and who was “not”.
