Thai boys rescued from a cave have seen their family through glass windows and will need to stay in hospital for at least 1 week

Officials at the Chiang Rai hospital have said that the eight boys who have already been rescued from the caves have seen their families and are eating well.

Public health officials said at a press conference from the hospital that all of the rescued boys had low temperatures, but are being warmed up. Two are being treated for a "minor" lung infection.

He added that the boys met with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha last night at hospital.

The boys have been allowed to see their families through a glass window as doctors continue to conduct thorough health checks and monitor the boys for any contagious diseases. Psychologists have deemed them in good mental state.

The boys are also eating more solid, non-spicy foods such as rice congee, but their previous requests for spicy pork noodles has been denied for now.

Four boys were rescued on Monday, while the first four were extracted Sunday evening.

More rescue efforts to free the remaining five boys and their coach are expected to begin on Tuesday.
