  • The Golden State Warriors are starting a playoff series on the road for the first time in four years.
  • According to one report, some Warriors players forgot they were starting the series in Houston and purchased plane tickets for relatives to Oakland for Games 1 and 2.
  • The Warriors have said starting on the road feels different, but they're up for the challenge against a talented Houston Rockets team.

The Golden State Warriors will start the Western Conference Finals on Monday in an unusual place - Houston, Texas, instead of Oakland, California.

For the first time in four years, since Steve Kerr became head coach of the Warriors, they don't have home-court advantage in a playoff series, thanks to the Houston Rockets' 65-17 season that earned them the No. 1 seed.

According to ESPN's Chris Haynes, some Warriors players forgot they were starting the series in Houston and purchased plane tickets for relatives to Oakland for Games 1 and 2.

"It's been a while since we've started out a series on the road," Draymond Green told Haynes. "You kind of forget that feeling."

Kerr called it "different" and said he thinks the Warriors will benefit from having their backs against the wall.

Of course, to steal back home court, all the Warriors have to do is win one of two games in Houston to start the series. The Rockets may hold the advantage to start the series, but the Warriors are 20-12 on the road in the postseason the last four years, meaning beating them, even when they're away from Oracle Arena, is a challenge.
