Anant Ambani gets engaged to Radhika Merchant amidst traditional Gujarati ceremonies

The youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, Anant Ambani was formally engaged to Radhika Merchant, on Thursday. The ceremony took place at the Ambani residence in Mumbai.

Anant Ambani who heads the new energy business of Reliance Industries, that’s based out Jamnagar in Gujarat – has been rumoured to be dating Merchant, for a long time now.

His siblings and twins Akash and Isha Ambani head the telecom and retail businesses of the conglomerate. The succession plan was announced in August last year, during the company’s annual general meeting. “All three of them have the mindset of the founder (Dhirubhai Ambani). Anant, in fact, spends most of his time at Jamnagar,” said Mukesh Ambani at the AGM.

While Akash Ambani is married to Shloka Mehta and has a son named Prithvi, Isha Ambani who is married to Anand Piramal, has recently given birth to twin babies – a boy and a girl.



Anant Ambani graduated from Brown University in the USA, and has since served at Reliance Industries in various capacities including as a member on the boards of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail Ventures.

Radhika Merchant is the daughter of Shaila and Viren Merchant, and has graduated from the New York University. She serves as a director on the Board of Encore Healthcare, a pharma company based out of Mumbai.

“Age old traditions such as the Gol Dhana and Chunari Vidhi – followed since generations among Gujarati Hindu families – were conducted with great enthusiasm in the family temple and ceremony areas even as the families exchanged gifts and greetings, bonhomie and fun,” said a note sent by the Ambani family.



The commencement of the engagement was announced by Isha Ambani, after which the couple exchanged rings in front of family and friends and sought their blessings for their upcoming union.
