The internet is abuzz with appreciation and memes over Akshay Kumar’s latest movie Sooryavanshi. The trailer of the movie has crossed 43 million views on the official Youtube channel of Reliance Entertainment.

The movie starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will be released on March 24, while the official trailer was released yesterday (March 2). A teaser for the movie starring Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar released in December 2018, creating a lot of hype for the movie.

A four-minute trailer of the Rohit Shetty film in association with Karan Johar’s Dharma Production opens up with Ajay Devgn narrating the terrorist attacks that happened in Mumbai, starting from 1993 serial blast to Mumbai 26/11 attack. Akshay Kumar, the lead in the trailer is seen as Veer Sooryavanshi, who is protecting Mumbai from the attacks – the main plot of the movie.

Ajay Devgn in his narration calls Veer Sooryavanshi, a ‘yodha’, who is a part of Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorism Squad and has been assigned a job to stop the attackers from terrorising Mumbai.

Kumar is shown as a super cop – tackling rogues around the city while also managing to spend time with his family. Kaif is seen playing as the wife of the super cop in the short trailer.

Sooryavanshi is the fourth movie in the ‘cop’ series from action director Rohit Shetty. In 2018, Ranveer Singh played the role of a police officer in Simmba, which also starred Sara Ali Khan. In 2011, Devgn played the cop role in Singham Returns which made whooping ₹216 crore at the Box Office.

Singham Returns, a 2014 Indian action film directed by Rohit Shetty starred Ajay Devgn alongside Kareena Kapoor.

At the launch of the trailer, Akshay Kumar rode a bike to the event and posted “Veer Sooryavanshi ditched the helicopter for a bike to beat the Mumbai traffic for the #SooryavanshiTrailer launch today.”

The trailer also sparked a flood of memes on social media right after its release. Tweeps took a dig at hilarious and catchy dialogues from the trailer and curated memes and jokes out of it. Some even called it India’s Avengers franchise.
