By: BI India BureauRadhika Merchant, 24, and Anant Ambani, 27 got engaged in a traditional roka ceremony at the Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, on Thursday. The youngest son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani is the head of Reliance’s new energy business that’s based out of Jamnagar.

The roka ceremony during the day was followed by an engagement party in the evening, which was graced by Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Ayan Mukerji, among others.

Originally hailing from Kutch, Gujarat, Radhika Merchant is the daughter of Viren and Shaila Merchant. Viren Merchant is the owner and CEO of Encore Healthcare. She’s one of the directors of Encore Healthcare. She worked with the luxury home developer, the Isprava Group, in the past.

Radhika Merchant has one younger sibling, Anjali Merchant. Radhika studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai, as well as École Mondiale World School in Juhu.

Radhika graduated from BD Somani International School with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, before moving to New York for further education. She earned a bachelor's degree in politics and economics from New York University.

Radhika is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, who took training from Guru Bhavana Thakar at Shree Nibha Arts. She gave her debut on-stage performance, as part of the arangetram ceremony, earlier this year in June, at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

Radhika and Anant are reportedly childhood friends. Their engagement rumors started floating in 2019 but neither of the families confirmed the news.

Radhika Merchant was spotted at the weddings of Anant’s elder siblings, Akash and Isha Ambani, to Shloka Mehta and Anand Piramal respectively. She even visited the Lord Venkateswara temple in Andhra Pradesh's Tirumala with her father-in-law, Mukesh Ambani, earlier this year, and was present at the first birthday celebration of Prithvi Ambani – Akash and Shloka’s son.
