If you- like every other guy in India are a die-hard cricket fan, you’ve obviously nursed dreams about being a cricket commentator, if not a cricket player.

Apart from having direct access to the player and getting his commentary heard by millions of fan worldwide, as a cricket commentator one also draws quite a hefty salary.

Take for example, Sanjay Manjrekar. According to the information on BCCI’s website under BCCI payments above Rs 25 lakhs, as of January 2016 he had received Rs 36,49,375 as commentator fees for the South Africa Series 2015.

As Quora user Ashish Sirohi points out, there were 4 test matches in those series- which had 12 days of play.

Thus, if were to assume that BCCI pays a cricket commentators based on the number of working days and also assuming that he commented in all four test matches, in that case the fee comes about Rs 3, 04,00 lakhs per working day.

On the other hand, Anil Kumble was paid Rs 39, 10,500 lakhs as fees for being a commentator in 5 ODIs and 4 Test Matches for the South Africa Series 2015.

Thus, if we had to make an assumption, it would be fair to say that a cricket commentator may earn around Rs 2-2.5 lakhs per day.
However the above amount will vary largely based on the eligibility/qualification of the commentatator in question and also from board to board.
