Instead of thrilling action, we got the chance to revisit all the characters who are left - not many at this point - and see what their current agenda is.<p>But what "Dragonstone" lacked in action, it gained in significant character development for Arya Stark. And it was much-needed character development, after seeing her on the verge of losing her humanity during a string of brutal murders these past couple seasons. Sure, they deserved it (Meryn Trant, Walder Frey, all the Freys), but where does she draw the line now?</p><p>Pop star Ed Sheeran made a guest appearance in a scene with Arya Stark, which was <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/ed-sheeran-will-guest-star-on-game-of-thrones-2017-3">a gift to actress Maisie Williams</a> from the showrunners because she's a big fan of Sheeran. But the cameo was actually much more than just a cameo. The scene was a significant jump for Arya in her character development.</p><p>Arya just wiped out the entire Frey bloodline (save for the women), and she's on a murderous rampage in Westeros. She's on her way to King's Landing to murder the queen, as she tells Sheeran and his camping pals in the Riverlands. At this point, there's no telling what Arya's willing to do for revenge. And throughout this entire scene, there's tension: Arya knows these boys are Lannister soldiers, and she hates Lannisters. Will she kill them, or let them go on their way?</p><p>The friendly Lannister soldiers offer Arya food, and remind her in casual conversation that in Westeros, they really have no choice but to serve their house, which just happens to be House Lannister. Not everyone who serves the Lannisters is as terrible as Cersei and Tywin. These boys are good people, and it's not their fault they're associated with the people responsible for murdering her family. This is a good thing for fans of Arya who don't want her affinity for assassinating everyone who has wronged the Stark family to get in the way of her humanity.</p><p>From now on, it seems like Arya will let innocent bystanders go. Whether that will be good or bad for her mission to kill the queen (and the others left on her list) is up in the air. The Ed Sheeran scene was the best part of the 'Game of Thrones' season premiere - but not because of Ed Sheeran

This episode was so heavily focused on the queens and ladies in Westeros that we didn't get to see what Arya was up to, and for the second week in a row, we didn't see The Hound and the Brotherhood Without Banners. </p><p>There's a lot to remember between Cersei's revenge and the Stark reunion in Winterfell - so we highlighted the episode's biggest moments. </p><p><strong><em>Here's our recap of "The Queen's Justice:"</em></strong></p>

<img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5971cc2ddde1892c417c6ff1-1248/59666dc8b4ec012d008b4590-1536-1022.jpg" alt="game of thrones hbo winterfell brienne of tarth podrick payne squire swords fighting knights" /><p class="source"><span>HBO</span></p><p class="caption">Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne, having a sparring session.</p>The first episode of "Game of Thrones" season 7 was a massive success, and has been watched through official channels <a href="http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/game-of-thrones-season-7-premiere-ratings-1202497751/">more than 16 million times since its debut last Sunday</a> - the most for a premiere in HBO's history.<p>But that figure pales in comparison to the number of times it has been pirated.</p><p>According to piracy analysis company MUSO, the 71st episode of the fantasy epic TV series been illegally viewed over 90 million times across the globe.</p><p>It's a staggering figure - nearly six times as many as the official view count - and includes illegal streaming, torrenting, and direct downloads.</p><p>"Game of Thrones," based on the "A Song Of Ice And Fire" books by George R. R. Martin, is a sprawling epic, dealing with court intrigue, fantasy wars, and dragons. It is always pirated heavily, <a href="http://time.com/4618954/game-of-thrones-pirated-2016/">regularly appearing at the top of "most-pirated" lists</a> measuring illegal downloads in any given year.</p><p>The episode in question, "Dragonstone" - <em><strong>spoiler alert!</strong></em> - deals with exiled Queen Daenerys Targaryen making her return to her ancestral home, the island of Dragonstone, as the North debates the way forward after the defeat of Ramsay Bolton, and in King's Landing Cersei Lannister, newly crowned, forms an alliance with Euron Greyjoy. And if none of that makes sense, don't worry - "Game of Thrones" is famously complex, spanning multiple (fictional) continents and featuring dozens of characters.</p><p>"Game of Thrones" season 7 episode 1 was streamed 77.9 million times, torrented on public trackers 8.3 million times, directly downloaded 4.9 million times, and torrented from private trackers 500,000 times, Muso says.</p><p>Most illegal views came from the United States (15.1 million), followed by the UK (6.2 million), Germany (4.9 million), India (4.3 million), with Indonesia (4.3 million) rounding out the top five.</p><p>In an emailed statement, MUSO cofounder Andy Chatterley said: "There is no denying that these figures are huge, so they're likely to raise more than a few eyebrows in the mainstream industry, but it's in line with the sort of scale we see across piracy sites and should be looked at objectively. What we're seeing here isn't just P2P torrent downloads but unauthorized streams and every type of piracy around the premiere. This is the total audience picture, which is usually unreported.</p><p>"Audience figures have always been a critical measure for studios and TV execs to assess the health of shows. The 'Game of Thrones' season 7 premiere was pirated a staggering 90 million times

But she returns to Dragonstone (where she used to chill with her buddy Stannis) in last week's episode, "Stormborn," to tell Daenerys Targaryen about the Azor Ahai prophecy.</p><p>In the scene, Melisandre tells Daenerys the prophecy and speaks in High Valyrian. In a recent interview with <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/game-thrones-carice-van-houten-playing-a-more-measured-melisandre-1023969">The Hollywood Reporter</a>, actress Carice Van Houten revealed how difficult it is to speak the fictional language: </p><p><span>"F-ing. Difficult.</span><span> </span>Especially<em><span> </span></em><span>when you've just had a baby six weeks earlier, and you're just like, 'Holy s-t, wait a minute ... Lines! What language is this? How the hell am I supposed to remember anything?,'" Van Houten said.</span></p><p><span>"Your brain is like f-ing gouda cheese. It's tricky! It was really tricky. But I love it. It's fun because the other actors can't understand you. It's really between you and the other person. You do feel like you're talking in a secret language, which is cool. Apart from the fact that I find it difficult to learn, because there's no reference to any other language, I'm always very impressed that the language exists at all."</span></p><p><span>For how difficult it is to speak, Van Houten sure makes it look easy. 'Game of Thrones' actress on what speaking High Valyrian is like: 'F-ing difficult'

The paintings seem&#xa0;to depict a war between the allied Children of the Forest and First Men, and the White Walkers.</p><p>Jon explains to Daenerys that in the past everyone fought the same enemy: White Walkers. An unprecedented avalanche of 'Game of Thrones' set leaks are making their way online

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Following on from "House of the Dragon," there are lots more "Game of Thrones" spinoffs in the works.</li><li>But none of the five being considered and developed at HBO have release dates just yet.</li></ul><p>HBO has long planned to create a "<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/game-of-thrones-still-one-of-worlds-biggest-shows-data-2022-6">Game of Thrones</a>" television universe, giving fans of the global fantasy phenomenon more stories based on author <a href="https://www.insider.com/winds-of-winter-release-date-george-rr-martin-updates-timeline-2023-7">George R.R. Martin's</a> various book series that take place in Westeros and beyond.</p><p>And with the success of the first season of "<a href="https://www.insider.com/house-of-the-dragon-questions-left-unanswered-season-one-finale">House of the Dragon</a>," it appears that the network is keen to continue to mine the world George R.R. Martin created with more spinoffs, sequels, and prequels.</p><p>Some of the series in development (which <a href="https://grrm.livejournal.com/536859.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Martin prefers</a> to call "successor shows") are based on existing stories that the fantasy author has written, while others would feature characters and locales he has created in brand new stories.</p><p>So here's everything we know about all the "Game of Thrones"-related projects that are in development, are rumored to be in development, or returning.</p><p><em>Kim Renfro contributed reporting to a previous version of this article.</em></p><h2><strong>1. "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight"</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="&quot;A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight&quot; is is development." height="675" width="1200" msid="106595257" hostid="261" sizebytes="65990"></div><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/game-of-thrones-prequel-show-series-order-knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms-2023-4">HBO announced in April 2023</a> that the tentatively titled "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Night," based on Martin's "Dunk &amp; Egg" stories, was<a href="https://www.insider.com/game-of-thrones-prequel-show-series-order-knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms-2023-4"> officially moving ahead.</a></p><p>The show — which the author told <a href="https://ew.com/article/2016/04/18/game-thrones-george-rr-martin-spinoff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Weekly</a> in 2016 would be the "most natural follow-up" to the much-loved fantasy series — has been given a straight-to-series order.</p><p>The show will take place almost a century before the events of "Game of Thrones" and focuses on the future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, the future King Aegon V Targaryen.</p><p>The pair's adventures —  which appear across three novellas in the book <a href="https://georgerrmartin.com/grrm_book/knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms</a>" — are known fondly by fans as the 'Dunk and Egg stories', but Martin explained <a href="https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2023/04/14/a-knight-and-a-squire/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in a blog entry</a> why he and HBO had opted for a different title for the adaptation.</p><p>"There are millions of people out there who do not know the stories and the title needs to intrigue them too," he wrote. "If you don't know the characters, Dunk &amp; Egg sounds like a sitcom. Laverne &amp; Shirley. Abbott &amp; Costello. Beavis &amp; Butthead. So, no. We want 'knight' in the title. Knighthood and chivalry are central to the themes of these stories."</p><p>He added that "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Night" was a working title, and may be changed before the series lands on screens. Martin speculated that the first season of the series will "most likely" consist of six episodes "though that is not set in stone."</p><p>The greenlight for the series may have come as something of a surprise to fans as Martin<a href="https://grrm.livejournal.com/536859.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> shared on his blog in 2017</a> that despite his initial enthusiasm for a "Dunk and Egg" show, he was putting the idea on a backburner since he was not yet done writing for the characters.</p><p>He wrote at the time: "Eventually, sure, I'd love that, and so would many of you. But I've only written and published three novellas to date and there are at least seven or eight or ten more I want to write."</p><p>"We all know how slow I am and how fast a television show can move. I don't want to repeat what happened with GAME OF THRONES itself, where the show gets ahead of the books," he continued. "When the day comes that I've finished telling all my tales of Dunk &amp; Egg, then we'll do a TV show about them, but that day is still a long ways off."</p><p>Martin was of course referencing the way that HBO's "Game of Thrones" wound up overtaking his published books in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, resulting in a divisive final season that<a href="https://www.insider.com/game-of-thrones-a-song-of-ice-and-fire-show-book-endings-analysis-2020-5"> may significantly deviate</a> from Martin's planned (and still unwritten) book ending. </p><p><a href="https://www.hbo.com/a-knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms-the-hedge-knight" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Per HBO</a>, Martin will serve as an executive producer on the series alongside, Ira Parker, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis.</p><h2><strong>2. The Jon Snow spinoff, "Snow"</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="Jon Snow on the beach Game of Thrones Season 7 Spoils of War" height="1405" width="1874" msid="106595260" hostid="261" sizebytes="81700"></div><p>"Snow," which is set to explore what happened to fan favorite Jon Snow (Kit Harington) after the events of "Game of Thrones," is the only spinoff in development that is not based on pre-existing material by Martin.</p><p>Per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/game-of-thrones-jon-snow-spinoff-1235167415/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hollywood Reporter, </a>who broke the news in June 2022, Harington is attached to reprise his role if the series moves forward.</p><p><a href="https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2022/06/23/snow-and-other-stuff/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Writing on his blog</a>, Martin confirmed the news and said that he was involved in the series, but revealed that the idea for the show had actually come from Harington himself.</p><p>He explained that Harington "brought the idea to us" and had assembled a "terrific" group of writers and showrunners, although he declined to share their names just yet.</p><p>As audiences will remember, in the eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones," Jon discovered that he was not in fact the bastard son of Eddard "Ned" Stark (Sean Bean), but a potential heir to the Iron Throne as the secret child of Ned's sister Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. </p><p>He also found himself exiled beyond the Wall to live out his days with the Free Folk after committing regicide by killing the crazed Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).</p><p>According to <a href="https://ew.com/tv/kit-harington-jon-snow-after-game-of-thrones/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Weekly</a>, speaking during a panel at a "Game of Thrones" convention in 2020, Harington himself said of Jon's future: "The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse."</p><p>He continued: "He's gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that, that's interesting." </p><p>"So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there's always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He's not okay."</p><h2><strong>3. "Nine Voyages" </strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon in &quot;House of the Dragon.&quot;" height="1000" width="1333" msid="106595261" hostid="261" sizebytes="78618"></div><p><a href="https://deadline.com/2021/03/game-of-thrones-prequels-sea-snake-9-voyages-flea-bottom-10000-ships-bruno-heller-1234717042/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a> was the first to report in early 2021 that a spinoff series about the adventures of Corlys Velaryon, also known as "The Sea Snake," was being developed at HBO with a script from "The Mentalist" creator Bruno Heller and support from Martin himself.</p><p>Although an older version of the character was introduced in the first season of "House of the Dragon," (played by Steve Toussaint), it's expected he will be recast for the stand-alone series, as it follows a much younger version of the character on his sea-faring journeys to Pentos, Dragonstone and around the bottom of Westeros.</p><p>However, speaking to<a href="https://ew.com/tv/steve-toussaint-game-of-thrones-sea-snake-prequel-series/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Entertainment Weekly</a> in 2022, Toussaint said he would love to be involved, even if it's just for a brief scene."</p><p>"If I'm lucky, I might say to them, 'Let me just be at the beginning [of the show] sitting with a book saying, 'Let me talk about my life,'" he said. "That'll be me petitioning."</p><p>However, at the end of 2023, Martin announced that "Nine Voyages" would be moving from live-action to animation, and explained why.</p><p><a href="https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2023/12/31/amazing-animation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a blog entry on December 31,</a> he wrote: "Budgetary constraints would likely have made a live action version prohibitively expensive, what with half the show taking place at sea, and the necessity of creating a different port every week, from Driftmark to Lys to the Basilisk Isles to Volantis to Qarth to… well, on and on and on."</p><p>"There's a whole world out there.  And we have a lot better chance of showing it all with animation," he added.</p><h2><strong>4. "10,000 Ships"</strong></h2><p>At the same time that Deadline dropped the news about "Nine Voyages," it was also announced that another spinoff series titled "10,000 Ships" was being considered at HBO too, alongside another project, "Flea Bottom," which would be set in the poorest slum district in King's Landing.</p><p>While "Flea Bottom" has <a href="https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a37056025/game-of-thrones-spin-off-flea-bottom-scrapped/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">since been shelved</a>, it appears that "10,000 Ships" is still going ahead.</p><p>While there hasn't been an update about the series for quite some time, a year later in the summer of 2022, Martin appeared to confirm that "10,000 Ships" was still going ahead. In an interview with<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/21/arts/television/george-rr-martin-house-of-the-dragon.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> The New York Times</a>, he stated that the series is set "like a thousand years before" the flagship series and described it as "an 'Odyssey'-like epic."</p><p>If it goes ahead, the series will tell the story of warrior queen Princess Nymeria (the namesake of Arya Stark's direwolf) and the surviving Rhoynars who traveled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by Valyrian and their dragons.</p><h2><strong>5. "The Golden Empire"</strong></h2><p>"The Golden Empire" is the working title for the animated series about Yi-Ti, Martin's own fantasy version of Imperial China, which has only been briefly mentioned in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books.</p><p>Like "Nine Voyages," the series will be animated, and according to the author, the early concept art and script for the series are shaping up quite nicely — but caveated that it could potentially be shelved.</p><p><a href="https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2022/03/09/random-updates-and-bits-o-news/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Writing on his blog</a> in March 2022, Martin stated that they had "a great young writer" working on the show and described the art and animation he had seen as "beautiful."</p><p>In the same 2022 New York Times interview where he spoke about "10,000 Ships," Martin shared more. "We got a terrific script on that," he said of "The Golden Empire."</p><p>However, he added: "Obviously, not all these shows we're developing are going to make it to air, but I hope that several of them do."</p><h2><strong>6. "House of the Dragon" season two</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen in &quot;House of the Dragon.&quot;" height="956" width="1275" msid="106595264" hostid="261" sizebytes="15276"></div><p>"House of the Dragon" was the first "Game of Thrones" spinoff series to air, after an untitled prequel series starring Naomi Watts, co-written by Jane Goldman and directed by S.J. Clarkson, <a href="https://deadline.com/2019/10/game-of-thrones-prequel-pilot-dead-hbo-jane-goldman-naomi-watts-1202771609/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was dropped in 2019.</a> </p><p>Its first season hit screens in 2022 and was a huge success. Its premiere episode <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/22/house-of-the-dragon-is-largest-hbo-series-premiere-in-history.html#:~:text=Entertainment-,'House%20of%20the%20Dragon'%20draws%20nearly%2010%20million%20viewers%2C,largest%20premiere%20in%20HBO%20history&amp;text=The%20first%20episode%20of%20%E2%80%9CHouse,in%20the%20history%20of%20HBO." target="_blank" rel="noopener">broke viewership records at HBO</a> and it went on to earn <a href="https://www.emmys.com/shows/house-dragon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">eight Emmy nominations</a>.</p><p>Unsurprisingly, a second season was quickly confirmed by the network and <a href="https://youtu.be/HQ8H5gqGA34" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a teaser trailer</a> for the new episodes was released in December 2023, confirming that the new season would land on screens in "Summer 2024."</p><p><a href="https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2023/12/06/a-visit-to-old-blighty/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a December 2023 blog entry</a>, Martin stated that while visiting the set of "House of the Dragon" season two, he had discussed the third and fourth seasons of the show with showrunner Ryan Condal and the writing staff. So presumably, "House of the Dragon" won't be ending anytime soon.</p>

Thoros, co-leader of the Brotherhood and a red priest who serves the Lord of Light, says a prayer to the Lord of Light before cutting Beric's hand with a sword. Beric then touches his sword with his bloody hand causing it to burst into flames. </p><p>The same prayer and cutting ritual isn't employed in the latest episode of "Game of Thrones;" Beric merely waves his hand over the sword to get it to light this time.</p><p>The inconsistencies in getting these swords to flame poses the question: How do these flaming swords actually work? </p><p><strong>The explanation for how Beric's sword is ignited into flames remains unclear.</strong></p><p>There's no solid explanation for how or why Beric and Thoros are able make swords flame in the series, but in George R.R. Martin's third book in the "Game of Thrones" series, "A Storm of Swords," Gendry insinuates that the flaming swords are just a trick.</p><blockquote>"'It's only a trick, I told you. The wildfire ruins the steel. My master sold Thoros a new sword after every tourney. Every time they would have a fight about the price.' Gendry hung the tongs back up and took down the heavy hammer."</blockquote><p><strong>The flaming sword has a strong connection to the Azor Ahai prophecy.</strong></p><p>According to the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/who-is-the-prince-that-was-promised-2016-5" title="'Game of Thrones' keeps hinting at a mysterious prophesied hero - here's why it could be Jon or Daenerys">Azor Ahai, or The Prince Who Was Promised prophecy</a>, a prince destined to chase away "darkness" is said to wield a flaming sword called the Lightbringer. </p><p>In season two, episode one, when Melissandre is still convinced that Stannis Baratheon is the Azor Ahai, she has him pull a flaming sword off of a burning idol during the burning of the seven on the beach of Dragonstone. In Martin's second book, "A Clash of Kings," Melissandre talks about Azor Ahai, and the significance of the Lightbringer sword.</p><p>Melissandre said:</p><blockquote>"In ancient books of Asshai it is written that there will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. <p>The set for John Oliver's new HBO show "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/review-john-olivers-hbo-show-last-week-tonight-2014-4">Last Week Tonight</a>" contains famous landmarks from New York and Egypt to a ficitonal land from another HBO series.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2014/05/06/game_of_thrones_easter_egg_in_john_oliver_s_last_week_tonight_set_hidden.html">Slate</a>, during a Q&amp;A session before a taping of the <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">new </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">satirical news show, Oliver was asked his favorite part of the set.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">His answer was an image of a tower from HBO's immensely popular "Game of Thrones" that was tucked away next to an image of the Empire State Building in the cityscape behind his desk.</span></p>

"And actually as the series has progressed, </span>the more 'forgotten' characters that have returned<span>, the more Gendry sticks out like a sore thumb."</span></p><p>So what would his reappearance on the show mean? For one, we're guessing this indicates a generous heaping of fan service in the seasons to come.&#xa0;</p><p>Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/game-of-thrones-creators-know-how-show-will-end-2015-4">they know George R.R. Martin's planned ending</a> for the series, but are mostly on their own for figuring out how to get there. Martin has yet to publish the final two books in his series, and Benioff and Weiss have now used up most of the existing source material. This means they are crafting their own plotlines,&#xa0;and could wind up simply giving fans what they want (versus open-ended storylines Martin may plan on leaving unresolved).&#xa0;</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/57d95702dd0895d3308b4d37-1440/gendry%20game%20of%20thrones.png" alt="Gendry Game of Thrones" data-mce-source="HBO"><p class="source"><span>HBO</span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div>Melisandre and Davos never meet Gendry in the books, and therefore don't set him to go off rowing anywhere. He's just with the <a href="http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Brotherhood_without_banners">Brotherhood without Banners</a> (Beric Dondarrion's ragtag crew of mercenaries).<p>So was his new plot in the show always planned with a dramatic re-entry three seasons later? Or is this a new idea the showrunners latched onto after the fandom wouldn't let the rowing Gendry go?&#xa0;</p><p>This wouldn't be the first time the showrunners revealed they were paying close attention to the memes or fan theories being circulated online. Season six <a href="http://www.thisisinsider.com/game-of-thrones-cleganebowl-reactions-2016-6">made a reference to Cleganebowl</a> - the epic fight between the Mountain and the Hound people are dying to see. The season six finale also delivered a somewhat meta scene, in which <a href="http://www.thisisinsider.com/game-of-thrones-olenna-sand-snakes-dorne-2016-6">Olenna Tyrell told the Sand Snakes to shut up</a>; something fans have been saying about the Dornish characters since their introduction in season five.</p><p>Dempsie's appearance at the Belfast airport isn't ironclad evidence he'll be in the show, but with no other reason to be in the area (plus fans' desperation to see his character's story resolved) it seems likely Gendry is back. Two men, who appear to be wearing the uniforms of King's Landing Gold Cloak guards, approach the two. After a conversation (and possible bribing from Davos) the Gold Cloaks depart. But then Tyrion walks past, heading towards the boat, and the guards appear to change their minds.&#xa0;<p>When they come back to the boats, Davos engages in conversation with them once again. Though the Robert we saw in the show had gained weight and spent more time drinking than fighting, the books gave us clues about what a fierce warrior Robert was in his heyday.</p><p>His weapon of choice was a warhammer - a large spiked device used to crush enemies. Or were they already traveling together? </span></p><p><span>Or is this beach supposed to be Dragonstone, Stannis Baratheon's old castle and Daenerys' new possible homebase in Westeros?&#xa0;</span><span>Did Gendry craft the warhammer himself, using his blacksmith skills? Or is it really Robert's old weapon?</span></p><p><span>So many questions, so few answers. A major 'Game of Thrones' set leak has fans psyched about a character's new weapon

<p dir="ltr"><span>In Sunday's 'Game of Thrones' episode, season five continued with religious warfare, a first look at the Dornish Sand Snakes, and an epic concluding scene in Meeren.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>But one of the best scenes came from a tender father-daughter moment between Stannis Baratheon and his daughter, Shireen, which didn't occur in the books.<strong><br /></strong></span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Though her face is disfigured with greyscale, a normally deadly and highly contagious disease, Shireen manages to be one of the sweetest and most likeable characters on the show.<br><br /></br></span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="hbo.com" title_caption="Shireen was disfigured by a disease called greyscale as a baby. A Dornish trader brought goods to the castle to sell, and among them was a small wooden doll dressed in Baratheon colors. Stannis, a new father, gave it to his only child - Shireen. But it was diseased, and by the time they realized what the doll carried, it was too late.</span></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;" dir="ltr">"I was told you would die, or worse, the Greyscale would go slow and you'd grow just enough to know the world before taking it away from you. Everyone advised me to send you to the ruins of Valyria to live out your short life with the stone men before the sickness spread through the castle. Shireen listens with rapt attention, smiling gently at hearing how her father defended her.</span></p><blockquote class="blockquote">"I called in every maester on this side of the world. Every healer, every apothecary. They stopped the disease and saved your life. Because you did not belong across the world with the bloody stonemen. You were the Princess Shireen of House Baratheon. And you are my daughter."</blockquote><p dir="ltr"><span>Shireen, her eyes brimming with tears, runs to Stannis, and hugs him fiercely. After hesitating, he wraps his arms around her in return.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>This is one of the better scenes we've had so far this season, and it is also one that was </span><span>not </span><span>sourced from the books, which could be significant. Why did the show writers decide that an emotional scene between Stannis and Shireen was necessary character development?</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>It could mean bad news for Shireen.</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Fans of "Game of Thrones" should be well-accustomed to untimely deaths of their favorite characters by now. Generally speaking, emotionally uplifting moments are far and few between in the series.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Here's the evidence that we have so far that Shireen may be in danger:</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Back in season four, when Stannis was preparing to leave Dragonstone and head for The Wall, there was contention between Stannis and his wife, Selyse, on whether or not Shireen should come with them. Melisandre says that she must come, and elaborates when Selyse seems confused.</span></p><blockquote class="blockquote">"You are strong enough to look into the Lords light and see his truth for yourself. However harsh it is, however hard it is for us to understand. You don't need my help, but I will need yours soon. When we set sail, your daughter must be with us. The Lord needs her."</blockquote><p dir="ltr"><span>Now, that can't be good. What would the Lord of Light, and therefore Melisandre, need from Shireen?</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Flash forward to Sunday's episode, and there is a scene when Selyse is apologizing to Stannis for never birthing him a son, and only giving him a disfigured daughter. Melisandre overhears, and interjects by saying that the Lord of Light does not care about Shireen's affliction.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>"Her father is the lord's chosen King, and her father's blood runs through her veins," Melisandre said to Selyse, and they exchange a loaded look.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>The last time king's blood was a hot topic with Melisandre was during season three, when she tracked down Gendry (Robert Baratheon's bastard) and brought him to Stannis. Stannis agreed to have Gendry sacrificed for the sake of a more powerful spell, but Davos helped him escape before their execution could be carried out.</span></p><p><span><span></span></span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">So now we have Shireen, chalk full of her father's blood, and Melisandre has emphasized to Selyse that the Lord of Light "needs" her daughter.
