<ul><li>Income tax department is conducting searches at Mankind Pharma’s premises in Delhi, checking documents, and questioning people.</li><li>Mankind Pharma has been in the news since its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/condom-maker-mankind-pharma-lists-at-20-premium-beats-grey-market-expectations/articleshow/100090002.cms">stellar debut on Tuesday </a>with 20% listing gains.</li><li>The company is known for products like MANforce condoms, Prega News pregnancy detection kits and Gas-o-Fast sachets.</li></ul>The Income Tax department on Thursday conducted searches on the premises of Mankind Pharma over allegations of tax evasion, official sources said. A PTI report said that searches are being conducted on the company premises in Delhi and nearby locations, documents are being checked and people are being questioned as part of the action launched early this morning. E-mail and queries sent by PTI to the company remained unanswered. Mankind Pharma recently went public, to raise ₹4,326 crore. The initial public offer was a complete offer for sale and its promoters received the proceeds from the share sale. Added to that, its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/condom-maker-mankind-pharma-lists-at-20-premium-beats-grey-market-expectations/articleshow/100090002.cms">stock listed at a 22% premium</a> on May 9, and the company’s marketcap stands at ₹56,108 crore as of Thursday. The pharma company also entered the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/corporates/news/mankind-pharma-debuts-in-top-100-as-per-market-value-after-a-stellar-listing/articleshow/100123765.cms">top 100 companies club </a>on its debut day. On Thursday, it ranks at 90 in terms of largest listed companies in India, leaving behind the likes of Punjab National Bank, Hero MotoCorp, UPL, Indian Hotels and Zomato. Analysts say that the stock may continue to do well going ahead, backed by strong fundamentals. “Given its healthy financial track record, domestic focus and extensive network, Mankind is likely to continue doing well,” Hemang Jani, Head of Equity Strategy, Motilal Oswal Financial Services. “Moreover the healthcare sector was a laggard over the last one year but started seeing traction over the last two months as the monthly pharma data showed improvement,” added Jani. Macquarie Research has initiated coverage on the company with an ‘Outperform’ rating and a target price of ₹1,400. The brokerage believes that Mankind Pharma is at a discounted valuation than its peers — Abbott India, GSK India and Pfizer India. “We believe the company’s net profit could double (&gt;2x) in the next three years, driven by: a) continued sales outperformance relative to Indian pharma market (IPM), b) mix shift towards chronic therapies, and c) unlocking of meaningful operating leverage as salesforce productivity improves,” said the brokerage firm. The company’s stock has been falling after the listing day amid volatile market conditions. Today, the stock is down nearly 2% at 1,356. Incorporated in 1991, Mankind Pharma is engaged in developing, manufacturing and marketing a diverse range of pharmaceutical formulations across various acute and chronic therapeutic areas, as well as several consumer healthcare products. Its product portfolio includes MANforce condoms, Prega News pregnancy detection kits and Gas-o-Fast sachets. The company said that it’s looking to acquire brands and diversify its therapeutic portfolio to facilitate entry into new markets. Income Tax department raids freshly listed Mankind Pharma’s premises over alleged tax evasion

<keyword id="20026907" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sun-pharma" source="keywords">Sun Pharma</keyword>ceutical Industries on Thursday said it will acquire the remaining 21.52% stake in Israel-based <keyword id="20238726" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="taro" source="keywords">Taro</keyword> Pharmaceutical Industries for Rs 2,891.76 crore, enabling the merger of the two entities. The acquisition of 8,086,818 shares (21.52%) will be at the cost of Rs 2,891.76 crore, Sun Pharma said. The Mumbai-based drug major has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding ordinary shares of Taro for USD 43 per share in cash without interest, as per the definitive merger agreement. Sun Pharma already owns a 78.48% stake in Taro. "Over the years, with Sun Pharma's strategic interventions, Taro has remained a key player in the generic dermatology market in a challenging environment," Sun Pharma Managing Director <keyword id="207035" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dilip-Shanghvi" source="Orion">Dilip Shanghvi</keyword> said in a statement. After the merger, the combined entity will firmly move forward, leveraging its global strengths and capabilities to better serve the needs of patients and healthcare professionals, he added. Upon completion of the merger, currently expected to close in the first half of 2024, Taro will become a privately held company and its shares will no longer be listed on the NYSE. "Taro is committed to delivering high-quality products to our patients and customers around the world. This merger will further enable us to compete effectively in our products and markets," Taro CEO <keyword id="372826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uday-Baldota" source="Orion">Uday Baldota</keyword> said. The merger agreement was unanimously recommended by the Special Committee, which was formed by Taro's Board of Directors to consider Sun Pharma's proposal. Upon receiving the unanimous recommendation of the Special Committee, and following unanimous approval by Taro's Audit Committee, Taro's Board and the Board of Directors of Sun Pharma unanimously approved the definitive merger agreement. Sun Pharma said the USD 43 per share purchase price represents a 48% premium over the closing price of USD 28.97 per share on May 25, 2023, the last trading day before Sun Pharma first submitted its non-binding proposal to Taro. The purchase price also represents a 13% increase over the initial proposed purchase price of USD 38 per share as proposed on May 26, 2023. Sun Pharma shares were trading 1.52% up at Rs 1,319 apiece on BSE.

A super hit IPO from 2020 has finally doubled investors' money

<keyword id="6444828" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gland-pharma" source="Orion">Gland Pharma</keyword> on Monday announced that it would be investing ₹400 crore to create additional capabilities in its existing facility at Genome Valley here to manufacture biologicals, biosimilar, antibodies and recombinant <keyword id="48003" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="insulin" source="Orion">Insulin</keyword>. An official release from the state government said the expanded facility will have employment generation potential of more than 500 numbers of qualified, skilled and semi-skilled workforce to be recruited, mostly from nearby places. The company established their biopharmaceutical facility in February last year at Genome Valley with an investment of ₹300 crore to manufacture vaccines, biologicals, biosimilar, antibodies and others. The expanded site is envisaged to meet the national and international regulations to be followed in the manufacturing of the biological products as applicable and shall be built under the GMP guidelines applicable for the respective product lines, it said.
