Noida, June 4 (IANS) IT major <keyword id="28126" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HCL">HCL</keyword> Technologies on Thursday said it will bring its software offerings, starting with <keyword id="9346292" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="HCL-Commerce">HCL Commerce</keyword>, to <keyword id="691847" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google-Cloud">Google Cloud</keyword>. The announcement marks the expansion of partnerships between the two companies. HCL Commerce is a leading, Coud-native platform used by businesses across multiple industries and around the world to drive more than $100 billion in annual client revenues. HCL announces ‘First Career Programme’ for engineering freshers to bag their first jobs

New Delhi, Jan 12 () The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has convened a meeting of industry representatives from IT and e-commerce sectors on January 14 to discuss the merits and de-merits of draft e-commerce policy on data storage, sources said.
Representatives from different companies including Accenture, Adobe, Facebok, Genpact, Google, HCL, Infosys, Intel, Microsoft and TCS are expected to participate in the deliberations, they said.
Besides, officials from Nasscom, E-commerce Council of India, Informational Technology Industry Council, CII and FICCI would also attend the meeting, they added.
The meeting will be chaired by an additional secretary level officer of the DPIIT.
The meeting assumes significance as the department is working to release the national e-commerce policy by the end of the current financial year.
The government in February last year released a draft national e-commerce policy, proposing setting up a legal and technological framework for restrictions on cross-border data flow and also laid out conditions for businesses regarding collection or processing of sensitive data locally and storing it abroad.
Several foreign e-commerce firms have raised concerns over some points in the draft pertaining to data.
The department has received huge response on the draft and it is examining all the views and comments.
As the draft policy includes several provisions related to data, the department is also looking at the Personal Data Protection Bill approved by the Cabinet last month.
Further, sources said that issues which needs to be looked upon include whether India should allow free flow of data across the border or inhibit or regulate it in some manner; and whether data localisation is required or not.
"These are the issues which have lot of pros and cons," they added.
The Personal Data Protection Bill spells out a framework for handling of personal data including its processing by public and private entities.
A company may have to pay a penalty if found violating norms under the Personal Data Protection Bill. RR

According to a study conducted by ET, top companies recruited a total of 1,543 MBAs from 26 leading B-schools, compared with 1,033 hires across 22 campuses in 2015. 
 The <keyword id="6357342" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hiring">hiring</keyword> increased to an average of 59 hires per campus, this year, compared with the last two years when the average hires per campus were 47 and 37, respectively. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=deloitt&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Deloitte</a> displaced IT major <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Cognizant+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Cognizant</a> and was at the top position in recruitment drive. <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword> dominated the list for three years. This time, <keyword id="6358918" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deloitte">Deloitte</keyword> walked into the first position with 282 hires across the surveyed campuses. 
 
Cognizant hired 245 MBAs, followed by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ICICI&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">ICICI</a> Bank in third. The biggest upset was in the case of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal</a>. The e-commerce company, which held ninth place last year, disappeared completely from the overall top list. 
 
The technology space unexpectedly put up a strong show. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infosys&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Infosys</a> made an entry to the top recruiters list for the first time since 2012 and was at fourth place.

Ahead of the <keyword id="2230909" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-House-panel">US House panel</keyword> hearing on Wednesday, Twitter and Facebook CEOs issued prepared remarks where Jack Doresy took a hard stand against repealing <keyword id="2742716" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="section-230">Section 230</keyword> of the Communications Decency Act while <keyword id="6354630" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mark-zuckerberg">Mark Zuckerberg</keyword> took a more conciliatory tone. Dorsey, who was set to appear before the Senate Commerce Committee along with Zuckerberg and Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, said that eroding Section 230 could 'collapse' Internet communication. "Eroding the foundation of Section 230 could collapse how we communicate on the Internet, leaving only a small number of giant and well-funded technology companies," he said. "We must ensure that all voices can be heard, and we continue to make improvements to our service so that everyone feels safe participating in the public conversation - whether they are speaking or simply listening. The protections offered by Section 230 help us achieve this important objective," Dorsey maintained. The hearing is scheduled to also cover the topics of privacy and media domination. In his prepared remarks, Zuckerberg said that Section 230 "made it possible for every major Internet service to be built and ensured important values like free expression and openness were part of how platforms operate". "Changing it is a significant decision. However, I believe Congress should update the law to make sure it's working as intended," he said. "We stand ready to work with Congress on what regulation could look like in these areas. By updating the rules for the Internet, we can preserve what's best about it -- the freedom for people to express themselves and for entrepreneurs to build new things -- while also protecting society from broader harms," Zuckerberg said. Pichai was yet to issue any prepared remarks before the key hearing. Twitter CEO believes repealing Section 230 could collapse how people communicate on the Internet

Market benchmark <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> <keyword id="6484188" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensex">Sensex</keyword> rallied over 269 points to hit its intra-day peak of 40,434.83 in early trade on Monday led by gains in ICICI Bank, RIL, ITC, TCS and HDFC Bank amid positive global cues and unabated foreign fund inflow. Similarly, the broader NSE <keyword id="6354813" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty">Nifty</keyword> advanced 75.85 points to 11,966.45, inching closed to the 12,000 mark. Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Vedanta, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, HCL Tech, Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel, rising up to 3.20 per cent. On the other hand, Yes Bank, Infosys, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and HUL fell up to 4.80 per cent. In the previous session, the 30-share Sensex settled 35.98 points, or 0.09 per cent, higher at 40,165.03. The Nifty advanced 13.15 points, or 0.11 per cent, to close at 11,890.60. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) purchased a Rs 533.37 crore in the capital market, on Friday, while domestic institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 136.50 crore, data available with stock exchange showed. According to experts, better liquidity from FIIs and mutual funds will maintain a positive sentiment in the market given de-escalation in geopolitical risks and focus on upcoming reforms to revive growth. Globally, bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul were trading higher on optimism over the US-China trade deal after China's commerce ministry on Saturday announced that top Chinese and US trade negotiators "reached consensus on principles". Indices in Tokyo, however, were in the red. Shares on Wall Street too ended higher after data showing the US economy continued to add jobs at a steady clip despite turbulence from the trade war with China. On the currency front, the rupee appreciated 16 paise against the US dollar to trade at 70.65 in early session. Brent futures, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.53 per cent to USD 61.36 per barrel.

On the other hand, the iPhone XR now costs Rs 47,900 for the 64GB version and the 128GB model retails for Rs 52,900. The iPhone SE 2020 now costs Rs 39,900 for the base model with 64GB internal storage, whereas the 128GB and the 256GB models cost Rs 44,900, and Rs 54,900, respectively. As a part of festive season offers, Apple is giving out free AirPods with iPhone 11, starting October 17. Amazon and Flipkart's Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days are starting this week and both the e-commerce marketplaces are expected to provide new iPhone 11 at a price below Rs 50,000. Apple on Tuesday launched 4 new iPhone 12 models with 5G capability. The top versions -- iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max -- will be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB models in graphite, silver, gold, and pacific blue, starting at Rs 119,900 and Rs 129,900, respectively. iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models in blue, green, black, white and red colours, starting at Rs 79,900 and Rs 69,900, respectively.
