Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has written to the <keyword id="30356" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="telecom-regulatory-authority-of-india" source="Orion">Telecom Regulatory Authority of India</keyword> (TRAI) stating that the complaint is a deliberate malicious attempt by Bharti <keyword id="15491" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="airtel" source="Orion">Airtel</keyword> Limited (Airtel) to defame RJILs consumer-friendly tariffs in order to protect its narrow interests. Bharti Airtel had filed a complaint on alleged predatory offers of Live TV channels with broadband plans by RJIL. RJIL said a close reading of the complaint letter would clearly establish that Airtel's sole grouse is that JioFiber is offering reasonable tariffs to customers. "Evidently, all its unsubstantiated claims of predation, non-level playing field, and non-compliance with TTOs and NTO are just woven around this singular theme and this complaint should be dismissed simply on the ground of being a frivolous attempt to protect its own interests. Further, Airtel should be warned against making such frivolous complaints in future," RJIL said. It added that the <keyword id="16958414" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jiofiber-backup" source="Orion">JioFiber backup</keyword> tariff is an earnest attempt by RJIL to connect all consumers to fiber optics technology in order to deliver best-in-class connectivity services. JioFiber Backup plan is a 10 Mbps FTTX plan at a monthly rental of Rs 198 (plus taxes). This plan is available only on 5 months advance rental at one go. Further, the subscribers have the option to add Add-on packs of Rs 100 or Rs 200 per month provided by Jio Platforms Limited (<keyword id="136455" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jpl" source="Orion">JPL</keyword>) in order to get access to up to 14 OTT apps along with Jio's OTT apps provided by JPL. Thus, it is evident that RJIL's product offering is limited to connectivity services and it does not include subscriptions to OTT applications or any broadcasting services, the company said in its response to TRAI. RJIL said this is a confusing attempt to deprive the JioFiber customers of an affordable offering that also provides an OTT app subscription at a reasonable price. "Evidently, as Airtel does not have sufficient grounds, it is desperately trying to mix different regulations to make an invalid point. In view of this, we reiterate that Airtel's complaint should be summarily dismissed," RJIL said. Best broadband plans in India in 2022 – JioFiber, Airtel Xstream Fiber and ACT Fibernet

<keyword id="3690255" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="jiofiber" source="Orion">JioFiber</keyword> added 0.19 million subscribers to become the number 1 operator in the fixed broadband segment in just about two years from commercial launch, with 4.34mn FBB subs. JioFiber's market share improved 85bp month on month to 16.9 per cent (launched commercially in Sep-19), Nomura said in a report. Bharti added 0.1mn subs to reach 4.08mn FBB subs (up 68% since May-20), with market share up 60bp m-m to 15.9 per cent. <keyword id="57998" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharat-sanchar-nigam-limited" source="Orion">Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited</keyword>'s (BSNL) market share further declined by 185 bp to 16.4 per cent share (vs 44 per cent pre-JioFiber launch in September'19), the report said. Without significant fund-raising, Vodafone Idea's network investments and 5G rollout would likely remain constrained, at least in the near term. Hence, we expect market share gains to continue for Bharti and R-Jio, the report said. TRAI data for November shows a slight improvement in industry numbers, with Jio gaining market share at the expense of VIL, UBS said in a report. After a large decline in September (driven by the 19mn subscriber loss reported by Jio) and flattish numbers in October, the industry witnessed a slight improvement in November, with overall subscriber base expanding by 1.2mn. Bharti gained 1.3mn subs (-0.5mn in Oct), Jio added 2mn subs (+1.8mn in Oct), while VIL continued to lose market share: it lost 1.9mn subs (versus loss of 1mn and 1.1mn in Oct and Sept respectively). Jio remains the market leader, with a subscriber market share (SMS) of 36.7 per cent (+10bps). Bharti and VIL ended Nov with SMS of 30.4 per cent (flat MoM) and 22.9 per cent (down 20bps) respectively. It is important to note that the tariff hikes were largely applicable from end-November / December, and therefore, December is likely to see some churn, UBS said. In fixed broadband, Jio surpassed BSNL to become the country's largest FBB provider. Jio now has 4.3mn FBB subs (+0.2mn in Nov), followed by BSNL with 4.2mn subs (-0.5mn in Nov) and Airtel with 4.1mn subs (+0.1mn in Nov). JioFiber adds 0.19 million subscribers, overtakes BSNL to become largest fixed broadband provider

As promised by the company chairman Mukesh Ambani at the annual general meeting (AGM) last month, the ultra high speed plans started at ₹699 and offer a lot of freebies. Freebies for Bronze, Silver and Gold plans Along with the three monthly plans of ₹699, ₹899 and ₹1,299, the plans offer unlimited data downloads, with a fair usage policy as mentioned in the next section. These plans come bundled with free voice calls, free TV calling and conferencing service, and zero latency gaming — Jio Console. They will also allow for content sharing at home and outside the home. The plans have also bundled Norton antivirus package for five devices. Freebies for Diamond, Platinum and Titanium plans Along with all the freebies mentioned above, the Diamond, Platinum and Titanium plan holders will receive platform access to a virtual reality platform which provides theatre-like experience, claims Jio. In comparison, Airtel’s plans are definitely pricier but their data limits are higher — which means heavy users can browse more at higher speeds without worrying about fair usage policies or FUPs. FUPs basically are limits for data downloads, crossing which speeds of the said plans will fall drastically. This is true even with unlimited plans, where operators believe that users tend to leave devices open and unattended when a plan is offered without limits. Higher speeds but less data Jio’s bronze, silver and gold subscription plans come bundled with free voice calls, free TV calling and conferencing services. These plans also include a free subscription to the Jio Console — Jio’s multiplayer game streaming service that’s making its debut with the promise of zero latency. The welcome offer — valid for a limited period of time and subject to annual subscription only — is only offering a free three-month subscription to JioCinema and JioSaavn for the bronze plan users.
