<keyword id="2688212" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Adani-Transmission-Ltd">Adani Transmission Ltd</keyword> on Saturday said it has entered into a pact with <keyword id="987578" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Essel-Infraprojects">Essel Infraprojects</keyword> to acquire Warora-Kurnool Transmission Ltd (WKTL) for an <keyword id="174605" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="enterprise-value">enterprise value</keyword> of ₹3,370 crore. The acquisition is in sync with <keyword id="76451" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Adani">Adani</keyword> Transmission's strategy to enhance the value for its stakeholders, through organic as well as inorganic opportunities, ATL said in a statement. ATL, India's <keyword id="11007517" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="largest-private-sector-power-transmission">largest private sector power transmission</keyword> and retail distribution company, has signed definitive agreements with Essel Infraprojects Limited (EIL) for the acquisition, it said. The regulatory approval for substitution of original awardee in the contract by ATL has already been received from the <keyword id="103658" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Electricity-Regulatory-Commission">Central Electricity Regulatory Commission</keyword>. The lenders consent and other necessary regulatory approvals shall be obtained before closure of transaction, the company said. With this acquisition, which is valued at an enterprise value of ₹3,370 crore, the cumulative network of ATL will reach 17,200 ckt km (circuit kilometres), out of which 12,350 ckt km is already operational and 4,850 ckt km (including this asset) is in various stages of execution. With this enhanced scale of operations, ATL will enjoy substantial benefits in terms of cost optimisation and shared resources and will also fortify its position of being the largest private sector transmission company in the country, the statement said. Anil Sardana, MD and CEO, Adani Transmission Ltd, said, "The acquisition of WKTL will bolster ATL's pan-India presence, consolidating further its position as the largest private sector transmission company in India. This strategic West to South 765 KV interconnector with Substation in Southern India, completes ATL presence in all regions of the country." This asset will not only increase ATL's size and scale but will also take ATL closer to its target of setting up 20,000 ckt km of transmission lines by 2022, he said. "The acquisition is a further demonstration of ATL's drive towards differentiated capability through inorganic growth, successful integration &amp; making such assets value accretive, for long term sustainable value creation for its stakeholders," Sardana said. Warora-Kurnool Transmission Ltd will develop, operate and maintain transmission lines aggregating to 1,750 ckt km. The 765 kV inter-state transmission line links Warora-<keyword id="6357155" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="warangal">Warangal</keyword> and Chilakaluripeta-Hyderabad-Kurnool with a 765/400 kV new sub-station at Warangal. The project was awarded through competitive bidding process on a build, own, operate, maintain basis. With <keyword id="123591" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Work-from-home">work from home</keyword> becoming more popular amid the pandemic, <keyword id="116273" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="cyberattacks">cyberattacks</keyword> against remote access <keyword id="1300115" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="protocols">protocols</keyword> have continued to rise over the past year, said a new report. After the switch to remote work, brute-force attacks against RDP -- which is perhaps the most popular remote desktop protocol and is used to access Windows or servers -- skyrocketed, reaching a new high of 409 million worldwide in November 2020, showed the research from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky. In a brute-force attack, attackers test different usernames and passwords until the correct combination is found -- and they gain access to the corporate resources. When the world went into lockdown in March 2020, the total number of brute-force attacks against RDP jumped from 93.1 million worldwide in February 2020 to 277.4 million 2020 in March -- a 197 per cent increase, according to Kaspersky's telemetry. The numbers in India went from 1.3 million in February 2020 to 3.3 million in March 2020. From April 2020 onward, monthly attacks never dipped below 300 million, and they reached a new high of 409 million attacks worldwide in November 2020. The highest number of attacks, 4.5 million in India, was recorded in July 2020, showed the data. In February 2021 -- nearly one year from the start of the pandemic -- there were 377.5 million brute-force attacks -- a far cry from the 93.1 million witnessed at the beginning of 2020. India alone witnessed 9.04 million attacks in February 2021. The total number of attacks in India from February-December 2020 was around 37 million, while the total number of attacks recorded in India during January and February 2021 are around 15 million. "Remote work isn't going anywhere. Even as companies begin considering re-opening their workplaces, many have stated that they will continue to include remote work in their operating model or pursue a hybrid format," Dmitry Galov, <keyword id="1266061" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="security-expert">security expert</keyword> at Kaspersky, said in a statement. "That means it's likely these types of attacks against remote desktop protocols will continue to occur at a rather high rate. 2020 made it clear that companies need to update their security infrastructure, and a good place to start is providing stronger protection for their RDP access." Enabling access to RDP through a corporate VPN and enabling use of Network Level Authentication (NLA) when connecting remotely are among the recommendations that experts offered to keep organisations safe from brute-force attacks. Accordingly, the improvement is expected to come on the back of the subsidy announced in December 2020 and a <keyword id="9829915" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="strong-momentum">strong momentum</keyword> in <keyword id="35090" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="exports">exports</keyword>. "Ind-Ra expects healthy revenue growth in Q4FY21 after the delay in the announcement of the subsidy led to the aggregate revenue growth for major sector entities slowing down to 4 per cent in Q3FY21." According to the agency, increase in ethanol prices across categories will aid the profitability of the distillery segment in Q4FY21. "This is despite the increase in transportation costs on account of allocation to farther depots by oil marketing companies. A strong export revenue should also help, even as domestic spreads could contract on weak sugar prices." Besides, Ind-Ra expects India's <keyword id="115567" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="sugar-production">sugar production</keyword> to increase 10 per cent YoY to around 30 million tonne (mnt) in sugar season 2020-21 (SS21), led by a sharp rebound in production in Maharashtra to 10.5 mnt. "Production in UP is likely to be lower at around 10mnt (SS20: 12.6mnt) with lower yields and recoveries coupled with the impact of higher cane diversion to sugar due to early closure of gur or khandsari producers because of the Covid-19 led lockdown in March 2020." "Sugar production increased 20 per cent YoY to 25.9mnt up to mid-March 2021." The agency cited that after a fall in Q3FY21, sugar mills have signed export contracts of almost 4.5mnt of the total quota of 6mnt for SS21 as strong international prices made exports remunerative, despite a reduction in subsidy to ₹5.8 per kg. "The strong demand is driven by the seasonal shortage, lower production in <keyword id="3739" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Thailand">Thailand</keyword> and delayed exports from India. Indonesia has emerged as a key market after the country extended its preferential lower import duty to Indian sugar amid a decline in sugar production in Thailand." "However, the momentum of raw sugar could be affected with the arrival of Brazilian sugar in April or May though a delay in harvest is likely in an effort to improve recovery." Furthermore, the agency said exports to Iran could reduce amid an increase in the country's production and shortage of Indian rupee. "White sugar exports are also affected by the shortage of containers and an increase in ocean freight. As a result, Ind-Ra believes sugar exports could reduce to around 5.4mnt in SS21." Additionally, the agency said that with strong exports and an increase in ethanol diversion, Ind-Ra expects the closing stock to moderate to 9.5mnt-9.7mnt by the end of SS21. "However, despite the reduction, the stock would remain significantly higher than the normative carry forward requirement."
