Customers also get free fast charging at MG dealerships for a limited time period.</li></ul>MG Motor today launched its second car in India, the ZS EV. The variants Excite and Exclusive are priced at₹20.88 lakhs and ₹23.88 lakh, respectively. The British automaker who had a successful launch of MG Hector, is now doling out many attractive offers with the EV cars. Customers who have booked the car before January 17 will get a discount of ₹1 lakh. It is also offering a special warranty plan called MG eShield. This plan offers 5-year manufacturer's warranty for unlimited kilometers and 8-year or 1,50,000-kilometer warranty on the battery. The car which will be assembled at its Halol plant in Gujarat, is available for order in five cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. “The ZS EV is a globally-successful product that operates at the intersection of an EV’s sustainability, an SUV’s practicality, and a sports car’s performance. It comes with best-in-class features and tech capabilities at a compelling price point. We are confident that this unprecedented value proposition will incentivise more consumers across India to go electric,” said Rajeev Chaba, President and MD – MG Motor India. The ZS EV’s running cost is pegged at ₹1 per km, as per electricity rates in Delhi-NCR. The carmaker also said that it has already received 2,800 bookings in 27 days after it announced it in December. “The number of bookings received for the ZS EV outpaces the total number of EV cars sold in India in 2019,” the press release says. Windmill inspires wheels The MG ZS EV can go from 0-100kmph in 8.5 seconds. It does not look radically different from regular cars, and that is probably by design. It has windmill-inspired wheels, projector headlamps with daytime running lights, and keyless entry/lock. Internally, the ZS EV has an 8-inch panel that helps manage the car. It comes with six airbags, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, a PM2.5 filter and a sunroof. The engine is rated at 141 BHP and 353Nm torque. MG claims that the ZS EV offers a range of up to 340km. MG has also set up fast chargers at its dealerships in the five cities mentioned above. These fast chargers can charge the ZS EV from 0-80% in 50 minutes. Buyers can charge their cars for free at these dealerships for a limited time period. Apart from this, MG will install a 7.4kW AC charger at the home or office of the car owners. This charger can fully replenish the battery of the ZS EV in 6-8 hours. MG ZS EV’s advance bookings are higher than all of 2019’s EV sales

<ul><li><keyword id="5985844" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="MG-Motors">MG Motors</keyword> is launching its electric car <keyword id="8107599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mg-zs-ev">MG ZS EV</keyword> in early December.</li><li>India is still warming up to <keyword id="186291" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="EV">EV</keyword> adoption and the biggest roadblock is the lack of charging infrastructure. </li><li>In 2017, India had 222 publicly accessible charging points located in top cities. </li></ul>Iconic carmaker MG Motors has had a warm welcome in India, and now its charging things up with an electric car. It’s launching the MG ZS EV in early December – a car that will hopefully make electric cars in India sexy. The British company which is now owned by Chinese SIAC entered the India automobile market with a mid-size SUV, MG Hector in June 2019 and received an overwhelming response. It had to stop bookings after receiving<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/mg-hector-suv-stops-bookings-as-demand-is-high-with-21000-bookings-in-a-month/articleshow/70287617.cms"> 21,000 of them within a month</a>. Now, it hopes to have a similar path with its electric car with the launch slated to be on December 5. It will join the two other EV options in India – Mahindra eVerito and Hyundai Kona Electric. Lack of charging infrastructure All the <keyword id="6354973" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-vehicles">electric vehicles</keyword> launched and yet to be launched have a rocky road ahead. And not just because the car sales in general is on a slow lane for the last one year. The cars need an extensive charging infrastructure and India had a mere 222 publicly accessible charging points in 2017 and that too in top cities. So MG is developing charging infrastructure as well. Days ahead of its EV launch, MG Motors launched the first 50 kW DC charging station at its flagship showroom at Gurugram – n partnership with Fortum Charge &amp; Drive India. They plan to add four more stations across Delhi NCR. It is planning to open them in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. “With an aim to be the leader in the EV segment in India, we are pulling out all the stops to ensure adequate charging infrastructure for our first EV customers. Our endeavour is to create a robust ecosystem for EVs, right from charging to end-of-life for electric vehicles in India and the installation of the first public fast charger is the first major step in this direction,” said Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director at , MG Motor India. However, it’s not alone. Tata Motors too is setting up 500 EV charging stations in five cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad – over the next two years. What the Indian government is doing The Indian government has set a mission – to convert 30% of cars on the roads to electric by 2030. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, has been given the authority to set up charging stations across the country. In a study done by the BEE and Ernst &amp; Young, it was projected that by 2030, Delhi would have 22.6 lakh charging stations, Lucknow would have 6.3 lakhs while Nagpur would have 2.6 lakhs. And there is the problem of the cost. “The retail pricing has been determined to be ₹4 per minute of charging that the operator is likely to charge the EV user with capital subsidy,” the study said. “At least one charging station should be available in a grid of 3 Km X 3 Km in the cities and one charging station at every 25 km on both sides of highways/roads,” Power Minister RK Singh said recently. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also announced tax subsidy for people who buy electric cars during the Union Budget. “To make electric vehicles affordable to consumers, our government will provide additional income tax deduction of ₹1.5 lakh on the interest paid on loans taken to purchase electric vehicles. This amounts to a benefit of around ₹2.5 lakh over the loan period to the taxpayers who take loans to purchase electric vehicles,” she had said. MG Motors' second car in India will be electric – and so it has to offer charging stations too

New Delhi, Jan 27 () State-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) on Monday got delivery of the first ZS EV of MG Motor India.
 EESL placed the order for 5 MG ZS EVs that will be used by government officials to further the cause of electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its National E-Mobility Programme, according to a statement.
 This procurement by EESL is driven by the objective of facilitating faster adoption of disruptive solutions while balancing economic development and environmental sustainability, the statement.
 With this initiative, EESL seeks to create a market for electric vehicles through its unique business model of aggregation of demand and bulk procurement.
 EESL is seeking to leverage the immense potential of replacement of existing vehicles in the government departments for initial demand aggregation.
 Saurabh Kumar, managing director, EESL, said in the statement: "India stands at the cusp of a new era that will be driven by sustainability. EV adoption is the future of mobility and will play a huge role in curbing the growing pollution crisis, as well as reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels."
 Commenting on the showcase of the ZS EV, Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director, MG Motor India, said: "Through several progressive measures such as the launch of FAME-II and BS-VI standards, the Indian government has been making major efforts to promote cleaner technologies in the country."
 The Government of India launched the National E-Mobility Programme to provide an impetus to the entire e-mobility ecosystem including vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure companies, fleet operators, and service providers.
 EESL is aggregating demand by procuring electric vehicles in bulk to leverage economies of scale. Till date, a total of 1,510 e-cars have been deployed and another 500 are under registration.
 Energy Efficiency Services Ltd has signed agreements with various public sector undertakings, government departments, and state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and others for deploying e-cars. EESL gets first electric vehicle from MG Motor

New Delhi, Nov 29 () MG Motor India on Friday said it has partnered with battery life-cycle management firm Umicore for recycling end-of-life batteries of its upcoming electric SUV ZS EV.
 The partnership will allow end-of-life ZS EV batteries to be recycled, thus ensuring greater peace of mind to MG customers about their ecological footprint, the company said in a statement.
 "Our partnership with Umicore focuses on end-of-life applications for used EV battery packs and ensures that exhausted battery packs of MG ZS EV are recycled in keeping with the global best standards, to ensure environment-friendly battery disposal," MG Motor India Chief Commercial Officer Gaurav Gupta said.
 Over the past few months, the company has worked towards creating the right ecosystem for its customers ahead of the launch of the ZS EV, including charging infrastructure, he added.
 Umicore India Country General Manager and spokesperson Kedar Rele said MG is addressing concerns about the disposal of end-of-life EV batteries for recycling.
 The company will offer its 'closed loop' sustainable recycling solution that ensures minimal waste and impact on the environment.
 "This is vital to the commitment of facilitating EV adoption and catalysing India's nascent EV revolution," Kele added.

New Delhi, Apr 1 () MG Motor India on Wednesday reported total retail sales of 1,518 units in March 2020, including 116 ZS EV and 1,402 Hector SUV, the company said in a statement."Both MG Hector and MG ZS EV have made a mark in the Indian car market. Despite supply chain disruption globally, MG Motor continues to serve its customers."In February, our sales were impacted due to the disruption, while the situation improved during March before the lockdown was announced, resulting in the shutting down of our manufacturing plant," MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba said.The company's current focus is on the health and well-being of its employees and their families, as well as the society at large, Chaba said."In this pursuit, we have also announced Rs 2 crore grant towards procuring gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators, and beds; and are working closely with the local administration in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara) to support their requirements," he added.Despite the ongoing situation, the carmaker said it has assured its employees that there would be no layoffs and all payments to suppliers and vendors would be completed on time.MG Motor India, which initiated the 'Disinfect and Deliver' initiative to sanitise cars and ensure a near-zero contact with customers, before the lockdown was imposed, also said it has decided to formalise this as a permanent process across the company after the lockdown is lifted.With zero stock of BS-IV units of Hector across its dealerships and factory, the company has recently started production of BS-VI variants.
