Chennai, Dec 19 () Hyundai Motor India on Thursday unveiled its upcoming compact sedan Aura which it plans to launch in the country next month.
 The company aims to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki's Dzire and Honda Amaze with the introduction of the model.
Hyundai plans to target customers in the personal mobility space with Aura while it would continue to cater to the fleet segment with Xcent.
 The domestic compact sedan market is currently pegged at around 25,000 units a month and dominated by Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze.
 "With Aura, we will cater to the demand in personal segment while Xcent would continue to service the fleet segment," Hyundai Motor India Ltd MD and CEO S S Kim told .
 When asked if the company has set a sales target for the new model, he added: "We are doing well in SUV and compact hatchback segments, it is only in the compact sedan segment that our performance is not satisfactory. "
 He further said: "With this new vehicle we strongly believe that we can be a meaningful player in the segment and compete with the likes of Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze."
 The vehicle comes with various segment first attributes, including a trim powered by a BS VI compliant one litre turbo engine.
 The vehicle will also have variants powered by BS VI diesel engine as well as trims with AMT technology.
 Based on a new platform, the model also comes with features like wireless charging and driver rear view monitor.
 "With 12 segment unique features, we are confident that it will meet the aspirations of millennials setting a new trend in modern mobility," Kim said. MSS MR

Hyundai unveils new compact sedan; to compete with Dzire, Amaze

If you have been planning to buy your dream car for long, then this is the right time to buy one because major car brands in India are offering highest discounts nowadays. According to The Economic Times, car manufacturers are offering discounts, freebies, exchange bonuses and heavy deals on their car models to boost sales in the fiscal end to show better numbers and improve their annual performance. 
 You must be surprised to know that in the current scenario, only 6 out of 150 different car models are attracting customers at full ex showroom price.  "There has been a consistent slowdown with only three top carmakers able to manage positive sales in the current fiscal. March is proving to be tough — retail sales are not picking up as corporate spend has dried up," Rakesh Srivastava, senior VP, marketing and sales, at <keyword id="152634" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Hyundai-Motors">Hyundai Motors</keyword> told the financial daily. 
 Even the market leader <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is feeling the heat. No wonder, it is offering upto 15% off the on-road price on all of its car models except DZire. "Market conditions are tough. Discounts have peaked as retail sales haven't picked up on a lacklustre Budget for the industry, and we are battling to beat last year's sales to remain positive on the sales chart," Maruti Suzuki executive director for (marketing &amp; sales) RS Kalsi told the Economic Times.

<keyword id="6365618" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki-India">Maruti Suzuki India</keyword> (MSI), which is India’s largest car maker, ended the financial year on a good note by posting a 15.9% rise in total sales in March at 1,29,345 units as against 1,11,555 units in the same month last year. 
 
Domestically, the company's sales increased 14.6% during the month to 1,18,895 units as against 1,03,719 units this time last year. 
However, it was in the sale of mini segment cars, like Alto and WagonR, that the company’s growth was halted since the sales declined 8.7% to 36,678 units from 40,159 units in March 2015. 
 
Sales of the compact segment, including Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire and Baleno, registered an increase of 20.9% to 46,786 units in March this year as compared to 38,710 units last year same month. 
 
The compact sedan Dzire Tour increased its sales by 21% during the month under review at 3,161 units as against 2,613 units in March 2015, while sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz rose 28.9% to 5,480 units during the month. Sales of utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross and recently launched compact SUV Vitara Brezza surged over two-folds to 13,894 units in March this year from 6,218 units in the corresponding month last year. 
 
"The company ended 2015-16 with its highest ever sales of 14,29,248 units, a growth of 10.6 per cent. This comprises highest ever domestic sales of 13,05,351 units and 1,23,897 units of exports," MSI said. 
 
It added that the top four best-selling models in India were Alto, Dzire, Swift and WagonR, all of which are from Maruti Suzuki, for the fourth year in a row.

Maruti's sales rose 16% in March, making it a good way to end FY 15-16

India's leading car manufacturer, <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is bullish about the new Maruti Ciaz - its latest mid-sized sedan for the country. Maruti had unveiled the concept version of the Ciaz earlier this year at the 2014 <keyword id="73154" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Auto-Expo">Auto Expo</keyword> and as these first undisguised pictures suggest the production version of the Maruti <keyword id="6911" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="suzuki">Suzuki</keyword> Ciaz looks like a promising sedan.
 The company has been struggling to have a successful run with its sedan models above the <keyword id="484565" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Dzire">Maruti DZire</keyword>, while arch rival <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> has hit the sweet spot with Indian car buyers with its sedans like the Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Elantra. But, this time around Maruti Suzuki is taking no chances as the Ciaz appears to have most things working in its favour as of now.

	Recently, a bunch of production ready Maruti Suzuki Ciaz were caught resting their heels in the company's Manesar manufacturing facility in Haryana. The company is working on a war footing to meet the scheduled launch of the Ciaz by second half of September 2014.
 Design wise the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz strikes a good balance between the last generation SX4 and the Kizashi luxury sedan. The four slat chrome grille features a large Suzuki logo, while the headlight design is very distinct in the segment and is expected to feature projector lamps as standard fitment. The multi-layered bootlid design and shape of the taillight makes the Ciaz resemble the new <keyword id="31353" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda-city">Honda City</keyword>'s rear end quite a bit.

	The interiors are inspired by the more premium Maruti Kizashi and would feature a two-tone dashboard with integrated entertainment system, steering wheel mounted audio controls, electric OVRMs and AC vents even for rear seat passengers among others.

	Optional features could include 5-inch display for the infotainment system, reverse parking camera, ABS, 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control air-conditioning, additional airbags and push button start to name a few.
 Pricing of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz would be on par to the <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword> City and Hyundai Verna and is expected to start from Rs 7.5 lakh onwards

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz production begins

New Delhi, Mar 20 () Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Friday said it has launched an updated version of its compact sedan Dzire priced between Rs 5.89 lakh and Rs 8.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The manual variants are priced between 5.89 lakh and Rs 8.28 lakh, while the trims with automated gear shift are tagged between Rs 7.31 lakh and Rs 8.8 lakh. "With over 55 per cent market share in its segment, Dzire is the preferred sedan of over 20 lakh customers. Building on overwhelming customer response, 2020 Dzire offers next generation K-series engine with segment first idle start-stop technology (ISS), upgraded premium exterior design, refreshed interiors and advanced features," MSI Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) Shashank Srivastava said in a statement. The introduction of BS-VI petrol engine with start-stop system makes it more desirable, low on emissions and high on fuel efficiency, he added. The manual variants of the model come with a fuel efficiency of 23.26 km per litre, while the trims with AGS technology return a fuel economy of 24.12 km per litre, the company claimed. The model now comes with features like cruise control, auto-foldable outer rear view mirrors with key sync, dual airbags and a new 17.78 cm infotainment system. MSS HRS

Maruti drives in updated version of Dzire priced up to Rs 8.8 lakh

<keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India Ltd, the country's leading carmaker, will recall 77,380 vehicles to upgrade the airbag controller software and replace a <keyword id="3381469" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="faulty-fuel-filter">faulty fuel filter</keyword>, the company said in a statement on Friday. Maruti, controlled by Japan's <keyword id="111052" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suzuki-Motor">Suzuki Motor</keyword> Corp, will recall 75,419 <keyword id="3381468" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baleno-cars">Baleno cars</keyword>, including 17,231 units of exports, manufactured between August 3, 2015 and May 17, 2016 to upgrade the airbag controller software. 

	Of these, 15,995 Baleno diesel cars, manufactured between August 3, 2015 and March 22, 2016, will also be inspected for a faulty fuel filter, which will be replaced.
 

	Maruti will also recall 1,961 DZire diesel hatchback cars, with auto-shift gear technology, to inspect and replace a faulty fuel filter, it said in the statement.
 

	Dealers will start reaching out to buyers from May 31.

Maruti Suzuki to recall 77,380 vehicles

On a monthly basis, its July sales have fallen by 12.3% from its June. Maruti’s sales are worse than what the market expected. Market research firm Emkay Global forecasted that its year-on-year sales would fall by 20.9%.

 This fall is in spite of increasing discounts. Bowing down to the intense sales pressure, Maruti had also been increasing its ‘total cash discounts’ offered to consumers. While Alto models saw an 8% increase in discounts as compared to June, the Celerio Automatic and Dzire Diesel versions saw a steep increase of 23% and 27% respectively. India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki’s profits fell by 27.3%. It total sales for the first quarter of FY20 fell by 17.9% as compared to the same quarter last year. July brought no cheer for carmakers who are hoping for a possible turnaround. “Volume performance is expected to remain weak across segments due to a high-base effect, increasing cost of vehicle ownership, monsoon deficit and financing issues,” said a report by Emkay Global.
