The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday deputed high level Central teams to Kerala, <keyword id="6354780" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Karnataka">Karnataka</keyword>, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and <keyword id="6357783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="West-bengal">West Bengal</keyword>. These States have been reporting a surge in the number of new Covid cases in the recent days. Each team comprises of a Joint Secretary, who is the nodal officer for the respective state, one public health expert to look after the public health aspects, one clinician to look after infection prevention practices, clinical management protocol being followed by the state. The teams will support the state efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of the positive cases. The Central teams shall also guide in effectively managing the challenges related to timely diagnosis and follow up. The total cases in Kerala are 3,17,929 which form 4.3 per cent of the total cases. The Cases per million stand at 8,906. Total number of recovered cases is 2,22,231 accounting for recovery rate of 69.90 per cent. The active Cases are 94,609, comprising 11.8 per cent of the total national figure. Total deaths in the state are 1,089 with case fatality rate of 0.34 per cent and deaths per million of 31. The TPM of Kerala stand at 53,518 and the positivity rate is 16.6 per cent. Karnataka has 7,43,848 total cases accounting for 10.1 per cent of the national figure. It has 11,010 cases per million population. 6,20,008 patients have recovered in the state resulting in a recovery rate of 83.35 per cent. The active cases are 1,13,557, 14.1 per cent of the national figure. The state has reported total of 10,283 fatalities, CFR of 1.38 per cent and 152 deaths per million population. The TPM is 95,674 and positivity rate is pegged at 11.5 per cent. Rajasthan has registered 1,67,279 total cases, 2,064 Cases per million and 1,43,984 total number of recoveries with recovery rate of 86.07 per cent. The active cases as on date are 21,587, 2.7 per cent share in the national numbers. The numbers of fatalities in the state is 1,708; case fatality rate is 1.02 per cent; and deaths per million stands at 21. TPM is 38,605 with positivity rate of 5.3 per cent. West Bengal has 3,09,417 total cases, 4.2 per cent of the national cases amounting to 3,106 cases per million population. Total recovered are 2,71,563 and the recovery rate is 87.77 per cent. With 31,984 active cases, the state accounts for 4.0 per cent of the total pie. Total deaths are 5,870; case fatality rate is 1.90 per cent whereas the deaths per million population are 59. With 37,872 TPM, the positivity rate is 8.2 per cent. Chhattisgarh is reporting 1,53,515 total cases, 5,215 cases per million, 1,23,943 total recovered and 80.74 per cent recovery rate. It has 28,187 active cases comprising 3.5 per cent of the national figure. There have been 1,385 total deaths in the state accounting for the case fatality rate of 0.90 per cent and 47 deaths Per million. The TPM are 50,191 and the positivity rate is 10.4 per cent. As an ongoing effort to strengthen efforts of various State and UT governments for Covid management, the Central government has been deputing Central teams from time to time to visit various States and UTs. These teams interact with the the authorities and get a first hand understanding of the challenges and issues being faced by them so as to strengthen their ongoing activities and remove bottlenecks, if any. Health Ministry rushes expert teams to 5 states reporting high COVID-19 cases

<ul><li>India will now have three <keyword id="8411238" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="central-sanskrit-universities">central Sanskrit universities</keyword> — <keyword id="2802845" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rashtriya-Sanskrit-Sansthan">Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan</keyword>, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya <keyword id="6390141" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sanskrit">Sanskrit</keyword> Vidyapeeth, Delhi, and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in Tirupati. </li><li>This is after the Parliament gave a nod to the Central <keyword id="7792758" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanskrit-universities">Sanskrit Universities</keyword> Bill, 2020, which sought to convert the three deemed-to-be universities into central universities. </li><li>The move will promote Sanskrit at a global level and offer integrated courses in humanities, social sciences, and science, thereby preserving Sanskrit and other allied subjects. </li></ul>The Indian government has given central university status to three Sanskrit universities, allowing them to gain international recognition.. Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Delhi, and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in Tirupati received recognition from the government. “Sanskrit language is not only a language but an identity of the great cultural diversity of this country and hence it is known as an unique language. Due to these factors, it has become imperative to promote the study and research in Sanskrit language. Hence, the government proposed to convert these three deemed-to-be universities into Central Sanskrit Universities,” <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=1606638">said</a> the Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank.’ Nishank elaborated that Sanskrit is a unique language in terms of grammar, meaning, pronunciation and accuracy, adding that Devanagari script is also derived from Sanskrit. The Parliament gave a nod to the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2020. The bill had sought the conversion of the three deemed-to-be universities into central universities. The aim is to promote Sanskrit at a global level and offer integrated courses in humanities, social sciences, and science along with it. “These three universities will have more opportunities to spread the knowledge of Sanskrit language not only in India but also across the world in a better way. The world is looking towards Sanskrit language therefore it is being taught not only in Indian colleges and universities but also in top universities across the globe,” he added. As of now, India nearly has <a href="https://theprint.in/india/education/how-modi-govt-plans-to-get-international-recognition-for-indias-sanskrit-universities/379101/">18 Sanskrit universities</a> with over 100 colleges teaching the language. However, none of them had National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation.  After becoming central universities, they will be able to participate in university rankings — both national and international — such as the <keyword id="3171143" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Institutional-Ranking-Framework">National Institutional Ranking Framework</keyword> (NIRF) and the QS Rankings. The development will<a href="https://prsindia.org/billtrack/central-sanskrit-universities-bill-2019"> allow the universities to create their own courses of study</a> and training programmes, grant degree certificates, distance education and an autonomous status. “The Central University status awarded to these three universities will enhance the status of these universities and will give a boost to postgraduate, doctoral, post-doctoral education and research practices in the field of Sanskrit and Shastraic education. This will pave the way for many people from abroad to learn Sanskrit and Shastraic lore from these prestigious central Sanskrit universities in our country,” the ministry said. India’s 3 central Sanskrit universities hope to spread Shastraic education globally

The Indian Government released the India Rankings 2017 and assessed the educational institutions on a number of factors, including number of research papers submitted, patents obtained, campus placement figures, etc. 
 
The ranking has been charted out by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which works with the education ministry. 
 
This is the second edition of India Rankings and a total of 2995 institutions have participated this time. This included 1024 Engineering Institutions, 546 Management Institutions, 318 Pharmacy Institutions and 637 General Degree Colleges, etc. Many of these have participated in multiple disciplines, adding to a total of 3319 participants across disciplines. 
 
The rankings were also done for Indian universities in which 232 universities participated.

The announcement was made on Monday under National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) – a first-of-its-kind indigenous ranking framework for higher education institutions. 
 
IIT Madras topped the list followed by IIT Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur. 
 <keyword id="60501" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIM-Bangalore">IIM Bangalore</keyword> was declared the best management institute followed by IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta as the first and second runner up respectively. 
 
The top 3 in Pharmacy were announced in this order: MCOPS (Manipal), UIPS (Chandigarh) and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi as the top 3 in this segment. 
 Then came the top 3 in Universities Category where IISc Bangalore topped the list followed by Institute of Chemical Technology and <keyword id="6356383" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="JNU">JNU</keyword> ranked third. 
 The report by Smriti Irani's department - <keyword id="3309858" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-Rankings-2016">India Rankings 2016</keyword> - seeks to "empower students and parents" while creating healthy competition among educational institutes, the ministry said. 
 
The rankings -which cover government and private institutions -have been released ahead of the next academic year which starts in the summer for college students.
