Police in and around <keyword id="19900176" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hyderabad" source="keywords">Hyderabad</keyword> have imposed curbs on vehicular traffic and certain restrictions for hotels, restaurants and bars in view of New Year celebrations. Roads around <keyword id="20016246" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hussain-sagar" source="keywords">Hussain Sagar</keyword> lake in the city centre, Nehru Outer Ring Road, PVNR Expressway, flyovers and a few roads will remain shut for traffic between 10 p.m. on December 31 and 5 a.m. on January 1. Police Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have issued orders imposing. restrictions to prevent accidents or any untoward incident during the celebrations. Police have set up special checkposts in the limits of all three commissionerates to check drunk driving, rash driving, overspeeding, triple riding and other traffic violations. Special drive to check drunk driving will begin in the city from 8 p.m. For the first time the <keyword id="20016249" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="telangana-state-narcotics-bureau" source="keywords">Telangana State Narcotics Bureau</keyword> (TSNAB) will also conduct drug tests on suspects. TSNAB personnel will collect the urine samples from suspects and conduct tests, whose results will be known in five minutes Organisers of New Year parties, hotels, restaurants, farm houses, resorts, pubs and bars have been warned of stringent action if they allow use of drugs in their premises. As a large number of revellers gather around Hussain Sagar lake, police have announced traffic diversions. Police Commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy announced that vehicular traffic will not be allowed on NTR Marg, PVNR Marg (Necklace Road) and <keyword id="20016248" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="upper-tank-bund" source="keywords">Upper Tank Bund</keyword> from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Motorists have been requested to take alternate routes. Traffic coming towards Hussain Sagar from different routes will be diverted All flyovers in the city will be closed for traffic. PVNR Express flyover will be available for the passengers who are bound for the RGI Airport on showing the air ticket. Travel buses, Lorries and Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Heavy Passenger Vehicles (HPVs) will not be allowed into the city till 2 a.m. Hyderabad traffic police will be undertaking extensive checks to curb drunk driving, rash, dangerous and negligent driving, over speeding and triple riding on two wheelers and other traffic violations in the interest of public order and road safety, he said. Cyberabad police have announced that Nehru Outer Ring Road will be closed for light motor vehicles except the vehicles bound towards the RGI Airport from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. PVNR Express Way will be closed for vehicles except for the vehicles bound towards the Airport. Shilpa Layout flyover, Gachibowli flyover, Bio-diversity flyovers 1 &amp; 2, Shaikpet flyover, Mind space flyover, Road No.45 flyover and Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, Cyber tower flyover, Forum Mall-JNTU Flyover, <keyword id="20016247" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kaithalapur-flyover" source="keywords">Kaithalapur Flyover</keyword>, Babu Jagjivan Ram flyover (<keyword id="20016250" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="balanagar" source="keywords">Balanagar</keyword>) and AMB Flyover (Kondapur) will be shut for traffic. The drivers/operators of cabs/taxi/auto rickshaws have been directed to be in proper uniform and carry all their documents. They shall refuse ride on hire to any public. Penalty of Rs 500 will be imposed in the form of e-challan on such refusal to ply. They shall stop drunk persons from driving a vehicle from their premises," reads an order by the Police Commissioner. Usage of high-decibel sound/music systems in the vehicles is prohibited and vehicles will be detained and sent to RTO for further action. Overcrowding in vehicles/travelling on the top of vehicles/creating nuisance in public places will also lead to strict action as per law.

Curbs imposed in Hyderabad in view of New Year celebrations

India is set to host the coveted G20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, 2023. The event will have world leaders like US President Joe Biden in attendance and as a result, to enhance security measures in the capital, a number of restrictions have been announced by the government which will make daily commute a hassle starting September 7 when the guests start arriving. Here is what the residents of the National Capital Region (NCR) will have to keep in mind: Commercial vehicles: All types of goods vehicles, commercial vehicles, interstate buses and local city buses such as Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System (DIMTS) buses shall not operate on Mathura Road (beyond Ashram Chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Quila Road and inside Pragati Maidan Tunnel from 00:00 hours on the intervening night of September 7 to September 10 midnight. Goods vehicles: Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), Medium Goods Vehicles (MGVs) and Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs) will not be allowed to enter into Delhi from 21:00 hours on September 7 to September 10. However, goods vehicles carrying Essential Commodities such as milk, vegetables, fruits, medical supplies, etc., having valid ‘No Entry Permissions’ will be permitted. For the entire New Delhi district: The entire area of New Delhi District will be considered as “Controlled Zone-I '' from 05:00 AM, September 8 to September 10 midnight. However, bonafide residents, authorised vehicles and vehicles dealing with housekeeping, catering, waste management, etc. for hotels, hospitals &amp; other important installations in New Delhi District will be allowed. Roads and junctions being treated as “Controlled Zone-II”: For 14 hours on September 10 (midnight to 14:00 hrs) the following roads will have restricted access: W-Point, A-Point, DDU Marg, Vikas Marg (till Noida Link Road – Pusta Road), Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (from Rajghat to Guru Nanak Chowk), Chaman Lal Marg (from Guru Nanak Chowk to Turkman Gate), Asaf Ali Road (from Turkman Gate to BSZMarg), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Marg (from Barakhamba – Tolstoy crossing to Guru Nanak Chowk on Chaman Lal Marg), Mahatma Gandhi Marg (from Delhi-Meerut Expressway T-Point to Kashmere Gate), IP Flyover, Shanti Van Chowk, Hanuman Setu, ISBT Kashmere Gate and Salimgarh Bypass. No TSR &amp; Taxi: No prepaid or any other taxi will be allowed to enter or ply in New Delhi District from 05:00 hours of September 9 to September 10 midnight. However, movement of following categories of vehicles shall be exempted from the above restrictions: - i) All types of commercial vehicles including buses which are already present in Delhi shall be allowed to move on Ring Road &amp; road network beyond Ring Road towards the borders of Delhi. ii) Taxis carrying bonafide residents and tourists having valid bookings in hotels located inside New Delhi District, and intending to go to New Delhi Railway Station will be allowed to ply on the road network inside New Delhi District. iii) General traffic, except goods vehicles and buses, will be allowed into Delhi from Rajokari Border. Compulsory diversion: Further, the above mentioned traffic will be compulsorily diverted from NH-48 to Rao Tula Ram Marg – Olof Palme Marg. No vehicular movement will be allowed on NH-48 towards Dhaula Kuan. Defence and emergency vehicles: Vehicles of Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, Police, Disaster Management, Fire tenders, Ambulance and those engaged in emergency services like road maintenance, maintenance of electric supply, water/sewage line, communication network, etc. will be allowed to move throughout Delhi. The existing prohibition as notified from time to time for different categories of vehicles shall also prevail.

There was a time when Bengaluru became the start-up city as well as the hub of several multinational companies, because of the suitable conditions that this coming-of-age city offered. However, worsening traffic conditions in the city and government’s lethargic attitude towards taking any steps to improve these conditions have forced Bengaluru’s outer ring road (ORR)-based MNCs to look outside the city for their next round of expansions. 
 
Apparently, traffic has resulted in these companies facing productivity loss, estimated at hundreds of crores. Factors that are forcing companies to think of downsizing in Bengaluru also include road-safety issues, mental and physical stress and resulting health issues in their employees. 
 Three months ago, a group of heads of companies based along ORR met <keyword id="6354466" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Siddaramaiah">Siddaramaiah</keyword>, the CM of Karnataka, to find a solution to the increasing traffic; however, two meetings and three follow-up letters have not resulted in anything substantial. 
 
If these companies shift base outside Bengaluru, the city stands at a risk of losing thousands of crores in investment, not to forget the dent to its reputation as a tech and startup hub. 
 
Cities that emerge as an option for these companies include Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai, where traffic problem exists but much lesser as compared to Bengaluru.

Bengaluru’s traffic nightmare is turning MNCs away

Hyderabad, Despite the economic slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, <keyword id="68884" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword> is focusing on the expansion of the <keyword id="617811" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="information-technology-sector">information technology sector</keyword> to further strengthen its standing as a leading global technology destination. It is not only setting up <keyword id="763883" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="IT-parks">IT parks</keyword> in tier-II cities but within Hyderabad, it is taking up initiatives to ensure the expansion of the sector in all corners of the city. For over two decades, the IT presence in Hyderabad was confined to Madhapur and Gachibowli clusters in the western part of the city and it is only in recent years that few companies started their operations in the east. The state government has now drawn up ambitious plans to take the IT growth to all corners of the city. Under the GRID (Growth in Dispersion) policy of the state government, as many as 11 industrial parks within Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits will soon be converted into IT parks. This week, the authorities issued detailed guidelines pertaining to the zones, incentives, and <keyword id="1088961" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="government-support">government support</keyword> for the conversion. The IT towers will come up in industrial parks at Balanagar, Kukatpally, Moula Ali, Mallapur, Patancheru, Katedan, and Sanatnagar, covering all corners of the city excluding the west. This followed the government's order to all polluting industries within the ORR to shift outside it. Non-polluting industries were also given the option to shift. Officials say the conversion of industrial parks into IT Parks will improve the elevation and the quality of living in the city. Home to 1,500 IT/ITES companies including global majors Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Apple, <keyword id="18635" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>, and nearly six lakh employees, Hyderabad is recognized as one of the leading Information Technology hubs globally. The new initiatives including GRID are expected to help achieve the state government's vision to increase the IT exports to $25 billion (₹1,87,000 crore) by 2025. The officials said the government embarked on dispersion as there is a resurgence of interest among the global investor's community, due to the state's investor-friendly and proactive policy measures. It is estimated that about 30% of the IT talent pool resides in the eastern part of the city and commutes to western IT Corridor on a daily basis. Similarly, a large part of the IT workforce resides in the northern parts of the city including Kompally, Bahadurpally, Bachupally, and Dundigal. This has led to overall city congestion and an increase in commuting time for IT employees. Dispersing the IT sector will not only decongest the western corridor and reduce the infrastructural burden but also makes it convenient for the IT workforce to commute to work and reduce the transportation burden on the IT companies. This is part of the objective to make Hyderabad the most preferred technology investment destination in the country and to attract niche segments that are fast emerging and evolving new verticals in technology sectors. The IT, Electronics and Communications Department has announced various incentives for units, anchors, developers, infrastructure development and institutional measures, and branding and promotional activities. The IT and ITeS units coming up in the industrial parks would be eligible for GRID benefits like an additional power subsidy of ₹2 per unit on the industrial power tariff on a reimbursement basis for a period of five years, with the total incentive for the unit not exceeding ₹5 lakh per year. According to the Government Order, the units will also get a lease rental subsidy of 30% for a period of five years with the total subsidy for the unit not exceeding Rs 10 lakh per year. The department announced concessions on land conversion for industrial lands under the Telangana State <keyword id="418609" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Industrial-Infrastructure">Industrial Infrastructure</keyword> Corporation (TSIIC) or industrial area local authorities that are converted to IT or ITES use. The developer has to utilize a minimum of 50 of the total built-up area for IT purposes. The remaining 50% can be utilized for non-IT use including commercial and residential use. In addition to converting industrial parks into IT parks, the government will also build an IT park at Kompally in the northern part of the city and another facility at Kollur or Osmannagar in the north-western part of the city. The government chose the areas for creating IT parks based on representations from various players. The eastern part of the city already has NSL IT Park, Genpact, Infosys, and others. Minister for Information Technology and Industry K. T. Rama Rao in July announced that the government permitted the conversion of five industrial parks into IT parks in east Hyderabad. In these five parks, IT firms will be set in about 25 lakh square feet which will create employment opportunities to 30,000 employees. He handed over conversion letters to the five companies. Hyderabad Distilleries and Wineries Limited's IT park will come up at IDA-Uppal over 12.40 acres. Minacto Chem will set up another park in the same area over 2.66 acres. Swamy Soaps and Oils Pvt Limited's park will also come up in IDA-Uppal over 2 acres. Gokuldas Exports Ltd's Mini Textile Park will set up an IT park in Nacharam over 8.93 acres while Bakelite Hylam Limited's facility will come up at IDA, Nacharam over 8 acres. The minister says that Hyderabad has no geographical hurdles and has the scope to develop in all the corners. Telangana clocked over Rs 1.28 lakh crore of IT exports during 2019-20, a growth of nearly 18% over the previous year. The growth rate was more than double the national average of 8.09% and more than two-and-a-half times the rest of the nation's average of 6.92%. The share of Telangana in overall IT exports from India went up from 10.61% to 11.58%. The number of jobs in the IT sector in the state went up from 5,43,033 to 5,82,126, a growth of 7.20% compared to the national average of 4.93%. This growth was registered despite the onset of the Covid-19 during the last quarter of 2019-2020. The Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for IT exports for the last six years is 14.46%. Industrial parks conversion into IT parks to further boost Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (IANS) Envoys of 64 countries on Wednesday visited the facilities of Bharat Biotech and Biological E, which are developing vaccines for coronavirus. After landing in Hyderabad by a special Air India flight, the Ambassadors and High Commissioners from the countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania reached Genome Valley on the city outskirts to visit the two companies. The visit by the heads of foreign missions was organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and was part of India's efforts to develop partnerships for the manufacture and delivery of vaccines. Last month, the diplomats were briefed on trials of vaccines underway in the country and efforts to manufacture and deliver the doses. Officials said the diplomats were divided into two batches and they went around the two companies to see for themselves the facilities developed for research and manufacturing of vaccines. Top officials of both the companies briefed the envoys about the progress made so far in the development of the vaccines and the rollout plans by both the companies after their vaccines get the approval from regulators. At Bharat Biotech, the delegation was briefed about company's vaccine development programme by Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director, spearheading Covaxin research, development, clinical trials and production teams. The delegates were explained about Bharat Biotech's research process, manufacturing capabilities, expertise through virtual and physical tours of the facilities. The envoys voiced their appreciation of the company's work of national and global public health significance. Covaxin, India's indigenous Covid-19 vaccine, is developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - National Institute of Virology (NIV). This indigenous, inactivated vaccine is developed and manufactured in Bharat Biotech's BSL-3 (Bio-Safety Level 3) bio-containment facility. Covaxin is a highly purified and inactivated 2 dose SARS-CoV2 vaccine, manufactured in a vero cell manufacturing platform with an excellent safety track record of more than 300 million doses. According to Bharat Biotech, Covaxin has been evaluated in approximately 1000 subjects in Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials, with promising safety and immunogenicity results. The Phase 3 human clinical trials of the vaccine began in November, involving 26,000 volunteers across India. This is India's first and only Phase 3 efficacy study for a Covid-19 vaccine, and the largest phase 3 efficacy trial ever conducted for any vaccine in India. "The development and clinical evaluation of COVAXIN marks a significant milestone for novel vaccinology in India. Covaxin has garnered interest from several countries worldwide for supplies and introduction," said Suchitra Ella, Joint Managing Director of Bharat Biotech while addressing the foreign envoys. Biological E last month initiated clinical trial of its Covid-19 subunit vaccine candidate in India following approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI). It is making the vaccine in collaboration with Dynavax Technologies Corporation (Dynavax), a US-based vaccine focused biopharmaceutical company, and Baylor College of Medicine, a health sciences university in Houston. Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar also addressed the diplomats and showcased the potential of the state. He said though being the youngest state in the country, Teangana achieved tremendous progress under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He also informed that the combined value of the pharma sector in the state is around $50 billion. Hyderabad is the vaccine hub of not only India but the entire world with 33 percent of the entire vaccine production being done in Hyderabad. During the last six years, the state has been a front ranker in the ease of doing business in the country. The state is home to some of the top valued companies such as Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft etc. Most of these companies have their largest establishments outside the US in Hyderabad. The Chief Secretary told the diplomats that the state has formulated a new TSiPASS policy for speedy approvals to the industries. Industries who do not get permission within 15 days are deemed to have been approved. This policy has proved to be a game changer and during the last six years around 14,000 units have been grounded in the state. Principal Secretary Industries and IT, Jayesh Ranjan, also made a power point presentation and showcased the investment potential of the state to the visiting dignitaries. Hyderabad lockdown pictures reveal its old-world charm and new age vibrancy

The government has granted permission to the Telangana Prohibition and Excise department to allow sale of liquor at retail outlets till midnight. It has also given permission for liquor to be served in bars, New Year events and in-house parties till 1 a.m. The department made it clear that this will be subject to observance of <keyword id="162487" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Standard-Operating-Procedures">Standard Operating Procedures</keyword> (SOP) for Covid-19. All the three police commissionerates have announced a slew of measures to check drunken driving and New Year revelry on the roads. "So what are your plans tonight? Will meet you at special drive on drunken driving," the Hyderabad police tweeted. <keyword id="483117" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="traffic-movement">Traffic movement</keyword> has been restricted on NTR Marg, Necklace Road and Tank Bund Road around Hussain Sagar lake. All flyovers in the city, except Begumpet flyover, will be closed on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1. Traffic will be diverted at various points to prevent gathering of revellers around the lake in the heart of the city. Buses, lorries, and heavy vehicles will not be allowed inside the city limits till 2 a.m. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that extensive checks will be undertaken to curb drunken driving, rash and negligent driving, over speeding, and triple riding on two-wheelers and other traffic violations. Cyberabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar appealed to people to celebrate the New Year at home with family. "We all know that we are fighting Covid-19 and during these pandemic times it is important that we first think about our safety. Let's not celebrate New Year by organising social gathering, mass gathering, musical programmes and musical events. This time let us spend the New Year with our family and near and dear ones. Stay Home-Stay Safe." Every year, the Commissioner used to celebrate New Year Eve with police personnel by cutting a cake at the Cyber Towers junction. However, the celebration will not take place this tear due to the pandemic. Voicing his concern over the growing number of accidents due to drunken driving, the Commissioner announced that an intensive drive will be conducted to check the menace. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat also advised people to stay home safely and restrict their movements. He said New Year celebrations are restricted in resorts, parks, hotels, bars, pubs and public places. Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be closed for light motor vehicles and passenger vehicles from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. in view of the safety of road users. However, medium and heavy goods vehicles will be allowed. Bonafide passengers travelling to the Airport on light motor vehicles will be allowed on ORR subject to production of tickets. Kamineni flyover, LB Nagar flyover, Sagar Ring Road flyover, LB Nagar underpass and Chintalkunta underpass will be closed for light motor vehicles, two-wheelers and passenger vehicles from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Police have warned that stringent action will be taken against those found driving under the influence of alcohol. The violators will be booked under section 185 of the <keyword id="6377804" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="motor-vehicles-act">Motor Vehicles Act</keyword>, 1988. The offenders may face a penalty of ₹10,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 6 months for the first offence and a penalty of ₹15,000 and/or imprisonment up to 2 years for a second or subsequent offence. The police also warned that their driving licenses will be seized and sent to concerned road transport officers for suspension as per section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. New Year celebrations: Hyderabad police imposes restrictions, select flyovers to be closed from 10 pm to 5 am

The <keyword id="541763" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="telangana-government" source="Orion">Telangana government</keyword> has cancelled the land pooling process for development of Outer Ring Road (<keyword id="6361571" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="orr" source="Orion">ORR</keyword>) in Warangal in the wake of protests by farmers. An order to this effect was issued on Monday night. This comes amid the growing protests by the farmers against the proposal to acquire land in 28 villages around Warangal city Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, municipal administration and urban development, stated that the government directed the <keyword id="3806680" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kakatiya-urban-development-authority" source="Orion">Kakatiya Urban Development Authority</keyword> (<keyword id="1956766" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kuda" source="Orion">KUDA</keyword>) to forthwith withdraw the notification issued on April 30 seeking consent of land owners for land pooling. KUDA, which proposed to develop ORR for a stretch of 41 km, had taken up this through land pooling process and commissioned survey work covering 28 villages in three districts -- Hanmakonda, Warangal and <keyword id="171610" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jangaon" source="Orion">Jangaon</keyword>. The farmers have been protesting against the notification. They have formed a Joint Action Committee to fight against land acquisition. Last week they staged a road blockade on the Warangal-Hyderabad highway, disrupting traffic for a few hours. The protest was supported by the Congress, Left parties and the BJP. The KUDA had proposed to acquire 21,510 acres of the land in 28 villages for the ORR. Though KUDA had announced that it has deferred the process in view of the opposition from the farmers, the JAC of farmers had vowed to continue the protest till the government scraps the move. Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA from Wardhannapet Aroori Ramesh had also called on minister for municipal administration and urban development K.T. Rama Rao and discussed the issue in the wake of the protest by farmers. Telangana govt rolls back land pooling process after farmer protests

Hyderabad, Buses of state-owned Road Transport Corporation in <keyword id="68884" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana">Telangana</keyword> went off road on Tuesday amid growing <keyword id="6367209" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="support">support</keyword> for farmers groups-called <keyword id="6379373" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharat-bandh">Bharat Bandh</keyword> that received support from all parties in the state except the BJP. With employee unions of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) backing the shutdown call, buses were confined to depots. <keyword id="3614635" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahatma-gandhi-bus-station">Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station</keyword> and Jubilee Bus Station, two biggest and busiest bus stations in Hyderabad, wore a deserted look. Some commuters who reached the bus stations early morning to board buses to their destinations were seen returning disappointed. Most of the cabs and auto-rickshaws also went off the roads as the unions of taxi and auto drivers backed <keyword id="10393033" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-bharat-bandh">the Bharat Bandh</keyword> in support of the demand by farmers' groups asking for rollback of the new farm legislations by the central government. With the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) declaring total support to the bandh, it is likely to evoke good response across the state. Opposition Congress, Left and other parties, farmers' and people's organizations and trade unions are also backing the protest. Ministers, MPs, state legislators and other public representatives will be participating in protests across the state. Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has appealed to party cadres to make the bandh a total success. TRS has called upon its leaders to stage road blockades on highways to show solidarity with agitating farmers. Backing the struggle by farmers against the three farm laws, Rao said the laws adversely impacted their interests. It was precisely because of that the TRS opposed the Bills in Parliament, he said and stressed the need for the agitation to continue until they were repealed. Rao's son, cabinet minister and TRS working president K. T. Rama Rao will be leading the protest at Borgula on Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway. The chief minister's daughter and member of legislative council K. Kavitha will lead rasta rook near Kamareddy. Home minister Mohammed Mehmood Ali, finance minister Harish Rao, agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy and other ministers will also lead the protests on highways. K. T. Rama Rao Mr. Rao urged owners of shops and business establishments to reopen their premises after 12 noon. He also wanted transport companies to resume their operations only in the afternoon. Dubbing the new farm legislation as 'black laws', Rama Rao called for raising a unified voice against a conspiracy to hand over the farm sector to the corporate entities and make farmers labourers at the hands of the big corporate players Leaders and workers of Congress, CPI, CPI (M), other Left parties will also stage protests. Telangana Non Gazetted Officers Union also extended support to the nationwide bandh call. Welfare Party of India, Jamaat-e-Islami, Student's Islamic Organization (SIO), Jamiatul Ulema and several other groups have also announced support to the shutdown. Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy directed police officials to take all preventive steps to maintain law and order in view of the bandh call. "It has also been instructed that none should be allowed to take law in their hand," said a statement from DGP's office. Cyberabad police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the bandh. Several protests might be held at various places, including on roads and junctions in and around the city, affecting regular movement of traffic, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S.M. Vijay Kumar said. People going to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport are advised to take the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and plan their travel accordingly, he said. Free passage for emergency services and ambulances will be ensured on all roads. Osmania University and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad have postponed the examinations scheduled for Tuesday. The exams would be held later. BJP has opposed the bandh call. Party's state union leader appealed to farmers and citizens at large not to support what they call 'sarkari bandh'. They also appealed to people not to fall into the political trap of the opposition parties. Union minister of state for home G. Kishan Reddy said it was unfortunate that a state government has officially declared that it is supporting the bandh. He urged the farmers not to mortgage their interests by believing the TRS and other opposition parties on the propaganda unleashed against the three farm laws. Bharat Bandh: Bus movement affected in Telangana as TSRTC backs shutdown

National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) spokesperson Sushma Gaur said, "NHSRCL is exploring all the possibilities to plan two high speed rail stations in Delhi." She said that one of the stations is in close proximity of Sarai Kale Khan and Nizamuddin railway station for Delhi-Varanasi high speed rail corridor, which may provide road connectivity to the high speed rail users through outer ring road, metro connectivity through pink line metro, interstate bus connectivity through Sarai Kale Khan ISBT and regional rail connectivity through RRTS system. The NHSRCL has started the aerial LiDAR survey for the 800km Delhi-Varanasi high speed rail corridor earlier this month. She said that the tenders related to <keyword id="387162" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-collection">data collection</keyword> and various other activities including LiDAR survey, required for the preparation of Detail Project Reports for Delhi-Varanasi, for which the first draft of the DPR has already been submitted. The NHSRCL on January 10 this year launched the LiDAR survey for the Delhi-Varanasi route from Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, wherein a helicopter fitted with state-of-the-art aerial LiDAR and imagery sensors will capture data related to the ground survey along the proposed route. Another official related to the development told IANS that there will be two high speed rail stations in the Gautam Budha Nagar. Another official related to the development said that one of the high-speed rail station will come up near the proposed Jewar International Airport while the another one near Sector 148 in Noida. Talking about another station of the High Speed rail in Delhi, she said, "Locations are being explored for the other station for Delhi-Ahmedabad and Delhi-Amritsar high speed rail corridor, in close proximity of Sector-21, Dwarka Metro station and Bijwasan Railway station." She said that this may provide connectivity to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport and central Delhi through Airport Express Metro Line and West Delhi, Central Delhi, East Delhi and Noida through Blue line Metro Line, upcoming <keyword id="9565" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Convention-Centre">International Convention Centre</keyword> at Sector-25 and Gurugram. The Delhi-Amritsar-Chandigarh is 459 km long high speed rail corridor while the Delhi-Ahmedabad is 886 km long High speed rail corridor. The official said that the high speed rail stations in the national capital will be finalised only after the DPRs are submitted. Besides these three corridors, the <keyword id="76223" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Railways">Ministry of Railways</keyword> has entrusted the work to the NHSRCL to carry out the detailed project report (DPR) for the 711-km-long Mumbai-Hyderabad high-speed rail corridor, which will pass through Pune; 753-km-long Mumbai-Nagpur and as well as the 711-km-long Mumbai-Hyderabad bullet train corridor. The NHSRCL has also invited tenders for preparing the DPR for the 435-km-long Chennai-Mysuru and 760-km-long Varanasi-Howrah high speed rail corridors'. The NHSRCL is collecting data on these new proposed corridors for the preparation of the DPRs. LiDAR survey alignment or ground survey is a crucial activity for any linear infrastructure project as it provides accurate details of areas around the alignment. This technique uses a combination of laser data, GPS data, flight parameters and actual photographs to give accurate survey data. "Based on the findings of the survey, designing of the vertical and horizontal alignment, structures, location of the stations and depots, land requirement for the corridor, identification of project affected plots/structures, right of way etc are decided," Gaur said. The work on the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project is also in full swing. This means that no more than five people can gather in public. New Year celebrations and gatherings will not be permitted at public places. To prevent private events, the Delhi Police has warned the people not to hold any parties or root-top celebrations during the designated curfew timings. "To ease overcrowding on New Year's Eve (31 December), exit from Rajiv Chowk metro station will not be allowed 9 pm onwards. Entry of passengers will be allowed till the departure of the last train. Mumbai In Mumbai, night curfew will be imposed from 11 PM on December 31 to 6 AM on January 1. While there will be no restrictions on visiting friends and family, a maximum of four persons will be allowed to travel in a vehicle. The Mumbai Police has said that it will conduct blood tests instead of breathalyser tests to ward against drinking and driving. Bengaluru The Bengaluru city police in its guidelines has stated that gatherings of more than four people will not be allowed in public areas. The prohibitory orders in the city will start from 12 noon on December 31 and end at 6 AM on January 1. Apartments and societies have also been instructed to not organise New Year celebrations. Restaurants will be allowed to operate but customers will be allowed only with advance booking. Chennai The Chennai Police has instructed resorts located along the Old Mahabalipuram Road and Chennai's East Coast Road to not organise parties. Guests who are presently staying at these resorts will be allowed to take these routes till 10 PM on December 31 after providing a valid ID proof. No parties will be allowed at beaches, restaurants, pubs, clubs and bars. Hyderabad The Cyberabad Police have instructed that New Year celebrations should be held between 8 PM on December 31 to 1 AM on January 1. The Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be open only to airport passengers from 10 PM on December 31 to 5 AM on January 1. The police have also instructed hotels, resorts, pubs and bars to not organise any party without the prior permission of the police. Jaipur The Rajasthan government has imposed night curfew in all cities with a population of more than 10 million. The restrictions will be in place from 8 PM on December 31 till 6 AM on January 1. New Year celebration guidelines for Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/53915707.cms" /> <keyword id="6385438" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="heavy-rains">Heavy rains</keyword> lashed parts of the national capital today leading to waterlogging and traffic jams in many areas at several places, Gurgaon being the most affected. 
 
The mercury, however, settled at the normal level. The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 34.7 and 26.5 degrees Celsius respectively, both normal for this time of the year, according to the MeT Department. 
 
However, vehicular movement was affected across the city, including at ITO, Vikas Marg, South Extension, Khanpur, Mahipalpur, Hari Nagar, IIT crossing, Nehru Place, Yusuf Sarai Market and Munirka. 
 
Traffic also crawled at various major intersections such as Laxmi Nagar, Kashmere Gate, Dwarka, Dhaula Kuan, Sarai Kale Khan, Moolchand, Karkarduma, Rajghat, Kalindi Kunj. 
 
Heavy traffic and bottlenecks were also witnessed on road stretches from Punjabi Bagh flyover to Rajouri Garden flyover, Mandi House to W-Point, Baraf Khana, Minto Road, Leela Palace and on Meerabagh Outer Ring Road. 
 
Meanwhile, Gurgaon saw waterlogging at a number of key intersections, including Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, Manesar, Udyog Vihar, old Gurgaon Road and a few areas in New Gurgaon.

Heavy rains cripple Delhi, bring Gurugram to a complete standstill

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/50512719.cms" style="width: 800px; height: 600px;" />Delhi Transport Minister <keyword id="6391020" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gopal-Rai">Gopal Rai</keyword> on Saturday asserted that the government has no intention to take the road-rationing experiment odd-even formula beyond January 15 amid reports that the <keyword id="6830867" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="odd-even-scheme">odd-even scheme</keyword> may be extended,. 

	The pilot plan for cutting vehicular emission was launched on January 1.

	 Rai said that some confusion is also being spread that the plan was illegally imposed by the government, and claimed that under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act, they have power to implement this scheme as such provisions were also made during the <keyword id="6354367" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Commonwealth-Games">Commonwealth Games</keyword> as per this law. 

	“Government is neither going to extend odd-even scheme beyond January 15 nor finish it before the 15-day trial period,” Rai said, terming some of media reports of extending the car-rationing scheme as “false”.
 

	He further said the traffic-restriction is just only for 15 days and after the trial period, government will study the data collected through it and will do a proper analysis, adding, it will then be able to take a final decision.
 

	Rai, who was at his residence held a meeting of Coordination Committee with officials concerned on the scheme, said from January 1-8, traffic police, transport and revenue departments have issued 5,893 challans for the violation of odd-even rules so far.
 

	“Out of these numbers, 2,912 challans were issued by SDMs and 2,260 by traffic police. Besides, enforcement wing of the transport department has issued 721 challans for violating odd-even rules so far,” he said.

	Apart from this, 1,943 challans were issued by the transport department to auto drivers for different violations including refusal to drive.
 

	The government has also received 13,528 calls on its two helplines in the last one week and most of them were related to queries about the scheme. Out of these calls, 395 were related to complaints against bus, auto drivers, and other issues.
 

	According to the minister, in view of traffic rush on some road stretches during peak hours, government has decided to deploy additional teams of transport department and traffic police to manage traffic there from Monday. The areas include, ITO, Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Connaught Place, Mathura Road, Ashram, New Friends Colony, Nehru Place, Sarai Kale Khan, Hanuman Mandir Marg and Dhaula Kuan.
 

	“Government has also decided to do a close monitoring on the assigned works of civil defence volunteers. Teams of SDM have also formed in this regard,” he said.
 The fate of the odd-even vehicle scheme will be decided on January 11 by the <keyword id="6355014" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-High-Court">Delhi High Court</keyword> which had yesterday reserved its order on various pleas challenging the AAP government’s ambitious pilot project which will continue till then. 

	A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath reserved the order after the Delhi government informed it that the pollution level of particulate matter across the national capital showed a declining trend due to implementation of the scheme.
