Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) also raised ₹1,140 crore through a 3-year debenture issue on a private placement basis at an interest rate of 4.64% per annum payable annually. The shares of ONGC ended 3% lower on Tuesday. Cipla The pharma major Cipla launched generic Nintedanib used for the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) under the brand name ‘Nintib’ in India. IPF is a rare lung disease that impacts ten in one lakh people, but it is a chronic progressive form of lung disease with an average survival rate of three to five years if left untreated. The shares of Cipla ended flat on Tuesday. Motherson Sumi Motherson Sumi Systems (MSSL), through its Mexican subsidiary, has acquired the activities of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) performed at Bombardier Transportation’s manufacturing site in Huehuetoca, Mexico. The deal is valued around $10 million. The shares of Motherson Sumi ended 2% higher on Tuesday. Prabhat Dairy The markets regulator SEBI has directed Prabhat Dairy to cooperate with the forensic auditor and deposit over ₹1,292 crore in a nationalised bank within seven days until the conclusion of the audit. The auditor was appointed to ascertain manipulation of books of accounts of the firm, misrepresentation of financials or business operations by the company, wrongful diversion of funds by promoters. The shares of Prabhat Dairy ended 5% higher on Tuesday. Bajaj Auto The state-owned Life Insurance Corporation increased its stake in Bajaj Auto from 4.76% in the June quarter to 6.4% in the September quarter. The shares of Bajaj Auto ended 1% higher on Tuesday. L&amp;T Infotech (LTI) The IT major L&amp;T Infotech (LTI) reported a 26.7% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹456.8 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company’s overall revenue grew 16.6% to ₹2,998.4 crore in the quarter under review. The shares of LTI ended 2% lower on Tuesday. Mastek The software major Mastek’s UK subsidiary has sold its entire stake in Majesco’s US subsidiary for a total value of $32.3 million. The company aims to use the funds for helping the UK arm drive its growth strategy and reduce borrowings. The shares of Mastek ended 1% higher on Tuesday. Equitas Small Finance Bank The ₹518 crore IPO of Equitas Small Finance Bank has so far seen a subdued response from the investors. <ul><li>The decades-old practice of getting milk delivered to the doorstep is a big reason. </li><li>Dairy companies spend between 1-2% of sales in advertisements, which is far less compared to other consumer staples companies. </li><li>This is a huge advantage for branded milk sellers at a time when consumers are moving away from unorganised local vendors. </li></ul>Do you get your milk delivered to your doorstep every morning? There is a good chance that you do not have up-to-date information on other brands of milk, competing prices and offers, if any, which may be available. Consumers are less likely to frequently shift from one dairy brand to another because of this decades-old practice. This has also meant that dairy companies in India have had to spend very little on advertisements and promotions.

 An urban consumer in India spends 20.3% of the monthly spend on milk and milk products, according to a survey by the National Sample Survey Organisation released in 2012. Milk is a staple and there is big money to be made in the segment. And yet, dairy companies spend only 1-2% of sales on advertisements, compared to online marketplace Flipkart, which <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/advertising/at-30-of-annual-revenues-flipkart-spends-thrice-as-much-on-ads-as-hul/articleshow/66611156.cms">reportedly</a> spends over 30% of its revenue. While Hindustan Unilever spends about 10% of its sales. “An effective advertisement of soap can win new consumers and additional revenues of ₹20 per new consumer per month whereas an advertisement of dairy brand can win revenues of ₹1,000 per new consumer per month,” an <keyword id="7442614" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-Securities-report">ICICI Securities report</keyword> explained. This would also explain why dairy companies do not offer any freebies to consumers and any discounts to distributors are negligible. However, on the down side, the same stickiness in consumer preference also makes it difficult for new entrants to capture customers from established players. The good news is a lot of people are yet to move from buying milk from unorganised neighborhood vendors to picking up branded milk and related products off the shelves. The Indian dairy sector is expected to grow at about 15% compounded annual growth rate, according to ICICI Securities, and there is possibility of steady shift of consumers from unorganised sector to organised sector. The fact that this growth does not need high promotional expenses is an added advantage for newer companies.

The Hyderabad-based dairy company saw its shares listed at ₹582 -- a jump of almost 38% from its initial price ₹421-428 apiece. The shares of Dodla Dairy continued to rise and were trading at ₹600 at 10.27 a.m. The grey market had indicated a strong listing of Dodla Dairy company as it stayed around ₹70-90 premium per share, according to <a href="https://www.ipowatch.in/p/ipo-grey-market-premium-latest-ipo-grey.html">IPOwatch</a>. However, the grey market is not an official measure of the market premium. The 26-year-old company operates in south India. It is the third largest milk producer in the country, with its milk procurement standing at 1.03 million litres per day. Their operations in India are primarily across the five Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Their overseas operations are based in Uganda and Kenya. Dodla Dairy's ₹520 crore initial share-sale was subscribed 45.62 times at a price band of ₹421-428 apiece. The company has delivered consistent growth over the last three financial years both in terms of financial and operational metrics, mentions a report by HDFC Securities. Its revenue from operations increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.98% from FY18 to FY20 and amounted to ₹21,393.73 million in FY20. This milestone figure was attained within two months of opening of bookings on August 20, 2020." Kia Motors said that last month 9,266 units of the Sonet were dispatched, making it the leader of the compact SUV segment within 12 days of its price announcement and market launch. Curiously, the announcement comes on the day when Japan's Nissan Motor Corporation world premiered its new compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Magnite and said it would be made in India for Indian and the global market. Mumbai, Feb 13 () <keyword id="108820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="milk-prices">Milk prices</keyword>, which have risen by Rs 4-5 per litre over the past nine months, are likely to stabilise in 2020-21 as production is expected to pick up due to abundant water availability and anticipated normal monsoon, according to a report. Production of <keyword id="6362951" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="milk">milk</keyword> has been shrinking since April last year due to high summer temperatures and lower availability of water, made worse by delay in rainfall, ratings agency <keyword id="6359483" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Crisil">Crisil</keyword> said in the report. This was followed by floods in various parts of the country, leading to poor animal health. Also, water logging in green pastures kept animals from grazing and damage to crops such as maize and sugarcane, which are used for fodder, crimped fodder availability, leading to lower milk production in the country, it added. This fiscal, milk production is expected to be lower by 5-6 per cent year-on-year at 176 million tonnes. The flush season that usually begins in November-December is estimated to have shifted by 1-2 months because of the delayed monsoon.

 Crisil said milk prices began moving up in May 2019, with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF, better known as Amul) and Mother Dairy hiking the maximum retail price of their full-cream milk pouches by Rs 2 per litre. The two giants followed this up with a further hike of Rs 2 and Rs 3 per litre, respectively, in December, taking it to Rs 55 per litre. Other large dairy processors have started following suit, spurred by the shortfall in milk production around the country, and thereby supply. However, Crisil said milk production is expected to pick up in 2020-21, given abundant water in reservoirs and expectations of a normal monsoon. That should arrest any further rise in milk procurement and retail prices. Further, rabi sowing area had increased 10 per cent as on January 31, 2020. This is expected to lead to a 12 per cent increase in crop production for the season and higher arrivals of key crops such as wheat, bajra, jowar and maize from March would mean copious fodder availability, which should raise milk production next fiscal, the report said. This is expected to stabilise milk procurement costs, bolstering the operating margins of dairy processors. So, milk prices are not expected to rise any further in the coming few quarters, unless monsoons spoil the game for processors, it added. Wisconsin lost 10% of its dairy farmers in 2019, marking its biggest decline ever as Trump's trade wars raged

New Delhi, Dec 14 () India's leading dairy firm Amul on Saturday announced hiking milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across various states, while Mother Dairy increased rates by up to Rs 3 per litre in Delhi-NCR due to rise in procurement cost.
 The new prices will be effective from Sunday (December 15), Mother Dairy and Amul said in separate statements.
 Prices of raw milk are generally lower in the winter season, but this year they have risen due to late monsoon followed by excess rains.
 Increase in milk prices by the two major dairy firms could impact retail inflation, which spiked to a more than three-year high of 5.54 per cent in November due to costlier food products.
 Mother Dairy has increased prices of token and poly pack or pouched milk by Rs 2-3 per litre.
 Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, said it has decided to revise milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets of Gujarat, Delhi NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and Maharashtra.
 GCMMF supplies 1.4 crore litres of milk per day across the country, of which 33 lakh litres is in Delhi-NCR.
 Mother Dairy too sells over 30 lakh litres per day of milk in the national capital region.
 Both the dairy majors attributed the price increase to higher procurement cost and said they pass on 80 per cent of the sales realisation from milk towards its procurement from dairy farmers.
 As per its rate chart, Mother Dairy has hiked the price of bulk vended milk (token milk) by Rs 2 to Rs 42 per litre.
 In poly packs, Mother Dairy's full cream milk has become costlier by Rs 2 to Rs 55 per litre. Price of half litre full cream milk has been hiked to Rs 28 from Rs 27.
 Mother Dairy's toned milk price has been hiked by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 45, while double-toned milk will now be sold at Rs 39 per litre compared to Rs 36.
 Price of Mother Dairy cow milk too has been raised by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 47 per litre.
 In NCR, Amul Gold and Amul Taaza will be costlier Rs 2 each to Rs 55 per litre and Rs 44 per litre respectively. Cow milk will now be sold at Rs 44 against Rs 42 per litre earlier.
 Amul said that in the last three years, it has made only two price revisions for pouch milk which is only Rs 4 per litre and less than 3 per cent per annum increase in MRP.
 "This year the price of cattle feed has increased by more than 35 per cent. Considering increase in cattle feed and other input costs, our member unions have increased milk procurement price in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 110 per Kg fat which is more than 15 per cent increase than the last year for the 36 lakh milk producers of Gujarat," Amul said.
 Mother Dairy said that milk availability across various states is under severe stress due to adverse climatic conditions including extended monsoon and delayed start of the flush season.
 Stating that adverse climatic conditions have resulted in a significant increase in feed and fodder prices, Mother Dairy said: "This has impacted the prices paid to milk producers. The raw milk prices, which in a normal year come down during the winter months, have firmed up substantially."
 The prices paid to milk producers have increased by about Rs 6 per litre, up by almost 20 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year, the company said, adding that it was compelled to raise milk rates. MJH ABM
