Going forward, analysts recommend investors to employ a ‘buy on dips’ strategy. Key amongst the drivers of Indian equity markets in April will be the earnings season, with TCS kicking it off on April 12, followed by Infosys and HDFC Bank. “We believe the macro and the upcoming earnings season will drive the market direction moving forward and hence Q4 FY23 earnings remain critical at this juncture,” said a report by Axis Securities. Foreign institutional investors (FII) have so far sold equities worth $6.1 billion in 2023 so far, but the analysts at Axis Securities believe that the worst of FII selloff is behind us now. Going forward, the brokerage believes that economic recovery and corporate earnings will take centrestage. Nifty50’s current valuations provide a ‘good entry point’ The benchmark Nifty50 index declined by 3.3% in 2023 so far, and the recent correction has dragged down the index’ price-to-earnings multiple to 17.4x on a 12-month forward basis. This is below its 5-year average of 18.8x. “Current valuations are below the 5-year average (18.8x), providing a good entry point for long-term investors,” said the Axis Securities report. In terms of sectors, the brokerage says that valuations of PSU banks, metal, and energy look attractive, while IT, pharma and auto sectors look expensive. Analysts at Goldman Sachs are overweight on banks, industrials and cement companies, while those at Morgan Stanley are bullish on the financial and consumer discretionary sectors. Capitalise on dips, say analysts Following on from the see-saw movement seen in March, analysts expect volatility to persist in the Indian equity markets in April due to global uncertainties. However, investors can capitalise on this volatility to employ a ‘buy on dips’ strategy. “Bouts of volatility cannot be ruled out owing to global uncertainties. Thus, dips should be capitalised on to accumulate quality stocks,” the analysts at ICICI Direct said. Echoing similar sentiments, analysts at Goldman Sachs recommend buying on dips, saying, “The valuation of the stocks is reasonable, though still not cheap. The relative premium to the region has halved from a record peak and the returns would be driven by 17%/15% earnings growth in 2023/24.” There is also a growing consensus amongst brokerages that Nifty50 might end this year around 20,000. While Axis Securities maintained its target of 20,400 for the benchmark index by the end of this year, Goldman Sachs said in a note that Nifty50 is likely to touch 20,000 in the next 12 months thanks to double-digit earnings growth in FY24. After the Ides of March, analysts pick best stocks that can be bought on dips

<ul><li>In December, <keyword id="6357979" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mutual-funds" source="Orion">mutual funds</keyword> deployed ₹14,700 crore in the secondary market.</li><li>Mutual funds participated in the IPO of five of the seven companies that debuted on the stock exchanges during December.</li><li>Key stocks that mutual funds bought in the month of December include HDFC, Reliance Industries and Maruti Suzuki.</li><li>While smallcap funds and midcap funds witnessed highest flows during December, multicap, largecap , flexicap and focused schemes were out of flavour as they either saw outflow or negligible inflows.</li><li>SIP inflows hit an all-time high of ₹13,573 crore in December. </li></ul>In December, mutual funds deployed ₹14,700 crore in the secondary market while foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold ₹6,300 crore, says a report by Nuvama Institutional Equities (previously known as Edelweiss Institutional Equities). Mutual funds have also participated strongly in initial public offerings (IPOs) in December – investing in five of the seven initial public offers that made their debuts on the stock exchanges during the month. The fund houses deployed ₹440 crore in Kfin Technologies, ₹150 crore in Sula Vineyards, ₹120 crore in Landmark Cars, ₹100 crore in Elin Electronics and ₹20 crore in Radiant Cash Management. Inflows into equity mutual fund schemes also more than tripled to ₹7,303 crore in December, from ₹2,258 crore in November, according to Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). This means that inflows into equity MFs have been positive for 22 months straight now. This has been the trend for quite a few months now, says Nuvama. Strong inflows in mutual funds is because of consistent commitment made by retail investors through systematic investment plans (SIPs). The number of SIP accounts in the industry reached 6.12 crore in December against 6.04 crore in November. In fact, SIP inflows are at an all-time high, hitting ₹13,573 crore in December. These companies might see their stocks come under pressure on the bourses due to the weakness in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Brazilian+economy">Brazilian economy</a>. 
 Moreover the US rating agency said mounting political turmoil and the difficulties faced by President <keyword id="440692" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dilma-Rousseff">Dilma Rousseff</keyword>'s government in tackling growing debt was the main reason behind the downgrade. 
 The Indian companies, which have sizeable exposure to the Brazilian market, include United Phosphorous and <keyword id="6773472" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Torrent-Pharma">Torrent Pharma</keyword>, whose revenue shares from this market go into double digits, besides Glenmark, KEC International, <keyword id="107782" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rallis-India">Rallis India</keyword>, Cadila, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata Motors</a>, Havells India and <keyword id="6357150" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="TCS">TCS</keyword>. 
 There are also others like Lupin, <keyword id="44642" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sun-Pharma">Sun Pharma</keyword> (through Ranbaxy), <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Godrej">Godrej</a> Consumers, <keyword id="6359783" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bajaj-Auto">Bajaj Auto</keyword>, MM Forgings, <keyword id="73067" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Praj-Industries">Praj Industries</keyword> (has a Petrobas order) and ONGC, which generate 2-3% of their total revenues from Brazil. 
 
Let’s see what happened after the US rating agency downgraded Brazil: Ø Stocks of companies with revenue exposure or investment plans in Brazil fell in Thursday's trade. Oil and Natural Gas Corp and <keyword id="6354248" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Videocon">Videocon</keyword> Industries, which have heavy investments in Brazil's oil and gas sector, fell 2.36% and 0.7%, respectively. 
 
Ø Shree Renuka Sugars, which made acquisitions in Brazil recently, fell 1.6%. UPL plunged 4.5%. 
 
Ø Torrent Pharma dropped 3%, Glenmark Pharma fell 1.9%, while Cadila Healthcare was down half a per cent. 
 
Ø Lupin declined 2%, while Sun Pharma was down 0.3%. KEC International slipped 2.3%, while Rallis India was trading flat. Praj Industries and MM Forgings fell 2.6% each. 
 
In April 2008, Brazil was awarded an investment-grade rating by the US rating agency. At that time the country's economy was on rise. However, sliding commodity prices and austerity have created a recession. 
 
Earlier this week, economist said Brazil's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Gross+Domestic+Product+">Gross Domestic Product</a> is expected to contract by 2.3% and the nation will have to borrow to cover all its interest payments (if interest payments are included, the total deficit this year is projected to be 8-9%). 
 
The faster-than-anticipated downgrade of the nation from investment grade will likely rock Brazilian financial markets and increase borrowing costs for the government and Brazilian companies.

The government on Thursday permitted the use of sugarcane juice and sugar syrup for ethanol production in the 2024-25 ethanol supply year, reversing last year's ban. In December 2023, the government prohibited the use of sugarcane juice or sugar syrup for ethanol production in the 2023-24 ESY (December-November) to ensure adequate sugar availability for domestic consumption and keep prices in check. "Sugar mills and distilleries are allowed to produce ethanol from sugarcane juice/sugar syrup, B-Heavy molasses as well as C-Heavy molasses for ESY 2024-25 as per the agreement/allocation with OMCs (oil marketing companies)," the food ministry order said. The Food Ministry and Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry will periodically review the diversion of sugar for ethanol production vis-a-vis sugar production in the country to ensure year-round availability of sugar for domestic consumption, it added. India is the world's second largest sugar producing country after Brazil.

Sensex, Nifty50 trade higher with all sectoral indices in the green

Flows into equity mutual fund schemes tanked in November to ₹2,258 crore as against ₹9,390 crore in October, according to AMFI, the regulatory body for the mutual funds sector. Meanwhile, debt schemes of mutual funds, which are considered relatively safer, witnessed inflows of ₹3,668 crore during the month against outflows of ₹2,817 crore in the previous month. “Market continues to react to global headwinds. Rate hikes will continue to impact global markets but not for long, irrespective of that, (the) mutual fund industry has performed well. There have been outflows from the retail schemes as people are encashing profits,” said NS Venkatesh, chief executive at AMFI in a statement. He cited the festive season as the reason for people taking out profits. The net assets under management (AUM) of the mutual fund industry stood at ₹40.37 lakh crore as on November 31, 2022. On the bright side, SIP (systematic investment plan) inflows in November were at an all-time high at ₹13,306 crore. In October, the inflows were ₹13,040 crore. In November, mutual funds deployed ₹1,700 crore into the market while foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought ₹34,900 crore in the Indian secondary market, said a report by Nuvama Institutional Equities (previously known as Edelweiss Institutional Equities). Inflows into equity mutual funds plunge sharply in November; MFs trim holdings in ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, Kotak Mahindra Bank

The fall was led by losses in the FMCG, metals and auto sectors. The Sensex closed 0.31%, or 187 points, lower at 60,858 while the Nifty50 ended 0.32%, or 57 points, lower at 18,107. “Domestic indices snapped their previous gains amid negative sentiments from their global counterparts. Weak US consumer data and hawkish comments from the Fed's policymakers on Wednesday hammered investor risk appetite. Lingering fears of recession dragged global bourses down, leaving the market volatile,” said Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Financial Services. The US commerce department on Wednesday reported a 1.1% drop in retail sales in December after it fell 1% in November. Reports say that economists had expected retail sales to decrease by 0.8% in December. Besides that, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard and Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester stressed on the need to raise interest rates beyond 5%. Adani Enterprises (-3.7%), Asian Paints (-3.1%), Tata Motors (-1.9%), IndusInd Bank (-1.8%) and Adani Ports &amp; SEZ (-1.7%) were the top five losers on the Nifty50 index. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 1.81% lower while the S&amp;P 500 declined 1.56%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq closed 1.24% lower. “The uncertain global market environment coupled with a hawkish stance by the US Fed officials on interest rate hikes kept the mood gloomy throughout the trading session. Although inflation is showing signs of some moderation, concerns over a likely recession in the US and western economies is prompting investors to turn risk-averse toward equities,” said Shrikant Chouhan, head of equity research (retail) at Kotak Securities. They are also burnt at 800 degrees with a process called incineration, producing hazardous waste, toxic smell and smoke,” said 26-year-old <keyword id="16342958" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ajinkya-dhariya" source="Orion">Ajinkya Dhariya</keyword> on Shark Tank India. Earlier while working for ISRO as an R&amp;D engineer, Dhariya visited a landfill in Pune, and saw rag pickers picking up sanitary waste and diapers with their bare hands. This is how healthtech startup PadCare was born. “A woman spends 5 days a month and approximately five to six years of her life experiencing a menstrual cycle. She consumes over 7,500 sanitary napkins in a lifetime. Our rag pickers pick these up with their bare hands. But in embarrassment, in villages, these are either buried or burned. 1,200 crore sanitary napkins are used every year in India,” Dhariya, who is also the CEO of PadCare. To solve this, Padcare offers three products – PadCare bin (stores hazardous waste for 30 days without bacterial growth or smell), PadCare X (recycles 15,000 sanitary napkins into wood pulp and high quality plastics) and PadCare Vend (a sanitary napkin vending machine). The Padcare bin is also India’s first 5D-technology-based patented sanitary napkin disposal and recycling system, the founder said. “The wood pulp and plastic is sold in the market to paper and packaging industries. These can be converted into creating a PadCare bin as well,” he added. Scaling Padcare across India With the help of earlier clients State Bank of India and Praj Industries, PadCare installed 3 PadCare bins in the beginning. Today, the company has 150 clients including Facebook, Capgemini and Goldman Sachs and has installed over 5,500 PadCare bins. PadCare is currently present in 6 cities across over 100 organisations and its products are being used by 1 lakh women, conserving 15 metric tons of carbon emissions, as per Dhariya. US, Canada, Singapore and African countries have expressed interest in using PadCare products, he said. The startup was also supported by Tata Trust, Infosys Foundation and additionally received a ₹2.25 crore government grant to develop the PadCare X machine. In FY22, the startup had sales of ₹1.05 crore. Dhariya was part of the <a href="https://www.forbes.com/profile/ajinkya-dhariya/?sh=5851d146717c">Forbes</a> Asia 30 under 30 list under healthcare and science category in 2021. However, the journey to create a sanitary disposal system, especially by a man, is not a common sight and Dhariya faced a lot of ridicule. But his family became his support system. “Sanitary pads were needed everyday for research. I thought I would have to seek the help of my friends. He is my brother so I gave him my pads. Ajinkya is a brother to all the women out there,” Aishwarya Mapara, Dhariya’s sister said. Moved by the social cause Dhariya was tackling, Lenskart’s Bansal offered a blank cheque to Dhariya. “He is the Padman of 2022,” said shark Aman Gupta referring to the Bollywood movie Padman and its lead character played by Akshay Kumar, who resolves to address social stigma associated with menstrual hygiene. Kumar’s character is based on real-life hero Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur and the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad-making machine. While Dhariya’s ask was ₹50 lakh for 2% equity at valuation of ₹25 crore, he ended up getting ₹1 crore for 4% equity, for the same valuation. New Delhi, May 4 () Several manufacturing companies, ranging from auto to textiles, breweries to chemical and fertilizers, have resumed manufacturing operations after getting permission from the respective state governments under the third phase of the lockdown, which begins from Monday.The manufacturers have informed the bourses about partial resumption of their manufacturing facilities with adherence to the safety precautions mandated by the government and the local authorities, and are also waiting for the approval/nod for other units.The development comes after a recent notification from the Union Home Ministry, which had last week permitted companies to resume manufacturing operations in red, green and orange zones with certain riders. Commercial vehicle maker SML Isuzu has got permission from Punjab government to start its manufacturing plant situated in district Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab."We wish to update that the Company has got the State Government permission to restart manufacturing operations at its Plant with limited workforce effective from today - 4th May, 2020," the company said in a regulatory filing adding "Work from Home Policy" will continue as per the government directions from time to time".Rajasthan-based Chambal Breweries and Distilleries has also informed the exchanges about resumption of operations. "As per the orders and directions issued by the Government of India and respective State Governments for lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus , now the operations at the Company have started," it said in a regulatory filing. Automotive and industrial lubricant manufacturing company Castrol India has also started operations at its plant in Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli."The operations at Silvassa are being carried out in complete compliance with the precautionary measures, conditions and directions as mentioned in the guidelines / orders from respective Government authorities regarding the COVID-19 safety advisories," it said.Hardware manufacturer Cerebra Integrated Technologies said that the company has resumed its manufacturing operation after receiving the required permission from the local authorities."The Company has resumed its manufacturing operations at its facilities located in the States Peenya Industrial Area Bangalore and Narasapura KIADB Industrial Area Kolar District in the state of Karnataka and will gradually scale up its production," it said.Pune-based process and project engineering company Praj Industries has also resumed operations in certain areas. "The Company has obtained permission from the Office of the Development Commissioner, Kandla Special Economic Zone (SEZ) regarding partial resumption of operations at Company's SEZ Unit II and Unit I at Kandla with effect from 21st April, 2020 and 22nd April, 2020 respectively," it said.Similarly, Amines and Plasticizers Ltd, the largest producer of Ethanolamines, Alkyl Alkanolamines, Morpholine Derivatives, has also partially resumed operations. "We are pleased to inform that the Company has partially resumed its operations after receiving required permissions and having ensured all health and safety measures as prescribed by the local authorities and State Government," it said.Ferro alloys manufacturer Nava Bharat has resumed operations (Power and Ferro Alloys) at plants situated in Paloncha, Telangana and Dhenkanal, Odisha, after receiving the "permissions with restrictions" from the respective state governments."However, the operations of our subsidiary, Nava Bharat Energy India Limited (150 MW Unit) at Paloncha, Telangana continue to be under shutdown, as there is no bilateral contract and there being no alternative viable market on the power exchange," it said.Integrated Printing, Logistics and Courier solutions provider DJ Mediaprint &amp; Logistics has also informed exchanges that it has got permission from Maharashtra government to start factory in few shifts from Monday."We have received the Permission for Commissioning of Factory under lockdown from the Government of Maharashtra, Department of Industries , Enery &amp; Labour started few shifts effective from today with limited manpower adhering to all compliances as mentioned in the permission as well as various Central/State/District Authority Orders," it said.Export-oriented terry towels and tufted rugs manufacturer Riba Textiles has also got the nod to start manufacturing operation. "We are pleased to inform that the Company has partially resumed its operations after receiving required permissions and having ensured all health and safety measures as prescribed by the local authorities and State Government," it said.On Friday, the Home Affairs Ministry issued new guidelines to regulate different activities in this period based on risk profiling of all the districts into Red (hotspot), Green and Orange zones.India is under a lockdown since March 25 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Lockdown 3.0: Several firms resume manufacturing after getting nod from local authorities

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/48385901.cms" /> The <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> slipped in early deals on Friday as traders remained on sidelines ahead of the weekend even as stock specific action was seen on mid caps. 
 
The Nifty was flat at 8,588 points in initial trades. The Advance-Decline Ratio was at 22/26 with Lupin, Bank of Baroda, ITC and State Bank of India dipping below Thursday's close compared with Vedanta, Sun Pharma, Idea and Cairn that posted early gains on the Index. 
 
Minor skids were seen on broader indices as investors refrained from longs at the start of trade. The CNX 100, CNX 200 and CNX 500 Indexes were in light shades of red. The Bank Nifty slumped 36 points in initial trades. Sectoral indices such as CNX FMCG, CNX Finance and CNX PSU Bank were in the red, while CNX Pharma Index, CNX Metals and CNX Energy Indices showed a small upticks on the National Stock Exchange. 
 And on the Bombay Stock Exchange, the <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> rose 24 points to 28,322 points in initial trades on Friday. As a consequence, the Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 16/14. Hindalco, Sun Pharma, Reliance Industries and Cipla were top on the list of gainers while ITC, TCS and Bajaj Auto posted modest losses on the Index. 
 
Trade was absolutely flat in the futures and options space with Ceat, CESC, Apollo Tyres and Amara Raja Batteries on top of the gainers’ list versus Motherson Sumi, Adani Enterprises, Sun TV and JP Associates that fell in early deals. The Advance-Decline Ratio, meanwhile, stood at 93/60. 
 
But the broader market was dominated by the bulls in the first half hour of trade with 961 shares rising compared with 527 that fell. 
 
Minda Corporation, Monte Carlo Fashions and Praj Industries made it to the volume buzzers list in early deals.

Indian stocks consolidated on Friday after a 4-day drop in prices prompted investors to bottom fish among beaten down valuations. Traders, meanwhile, hunted for price action on the first day of the new monthly series in the derivatives space. 
 
The Nifty rose 5 points to 8,117 points at the start of trade. Dr. Reddy's, ICICI Bank, Yes bank, NTPC and Vedanta gained ground on the index while ONGC, M&amp;M, ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Infosys dropped in trade. The Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 28/20 on the Nifty. 
 Dr. Reddy's, ITC and Axis Bank were the top traded stocks on the index while Suzlon, Unitech and HCC topped the most traded chart on the <keyword id="53581" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="NATIONAL-STOCK-EXCHANGE">National Stock Exchange</keyword>. 
 
Bits of green were seen on the broader markets where the CNX 100, CNX 200 and CNX 500 indices inched up a little. The trend was mixed in the sectoral space with the FMCG benchmark dropping the most, about a percent. Small dips were seen on Auto, Media and software sectors while the pharma index gained more than 1 percent. The Banking sector perked up as well with modest gains seen on private and PSU banks. 
The Sensex inched up 18 points to 26,856 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma and Lupin were among gainers. Maruti, Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto dropped in trade. The Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 14/18 in the first half of trade with Dr. Reddy's, Axis Bank and Larsen being the top traded shares on the Sensex. 
 
The wider market saw bulls dominating the first 30 minutes of trade with 928 stocks gaining compared with 439 that fell. 
 
Trade was tentative in the futures and options space where the first day of the new monthly series took root. Traders whetted out winners from losers with Glenmark, Bharat Forge and Dr. Reddy's Futures gaining ground. Dips were seen in futures of Hexaware, Apollo Tyres and Just Dial. Most sectors were in the green except for futures belonging to the capital goods, FMCg and Technology spaces. 
 State Bank of Travancore, TRF and Praj Industries made it to the top volume buzzers list on the <keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword>. Bombay Rayon, LT Foods and NIIT Technologies hit fresh highs in early deals while JM Financial and Murli Industries sunk to new lows.
