 Reliance Retail's strong 27% growth in quarterly revenue would come as a surprise even for the company that did acknowledge a slowdown in consumption. Subscriber addition by Reliance Jio slowed, so did the average revenue per user, but the company managed to cut costs and make more margin out of its telecom business. Reliance Jio'subscriber addition has been less than estimates but margin has improved sharply. 7. Jio reported a 45.40% rise in profit at ₹990 crore compared to the same time last year 8. The average revenue per Jio user was ₹120. 9. Outstanding debt at September end was ₹2.91 lakh crore ($41.2 billion). 10. Petrochemicals revenue fell 11.9% compared to the same period last year. "We continue to build our consumer businesses. The strategic partnership with Aramco highlights its value to all stakeholders. The petrochemicals will benefit from both rising demand in India and our feedstock," Chief Financial Officer Alok Agarwal said in his post-earnings webcast. Reliance Industries posts record profit-- retail shines despite a slowdown

Reliance’s revenue for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2021 stood at ₹172,095 crore, while its net profit doubled to ₹14,995 crore. But some of the company’ major focus areas seemed to be wearing off their sheen. While the oil to chemical vertical saw a growth of 4.5% in revenue, the profit shrunk by just as much despite a one-time gain of ₹4,420 crore from sale of its petrol pumps. Even the much talked about Reliance Jio reported a profit decline of nearly 4% with net profit of ₹3,508 crore. The company also cited the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on its business as a factor it continues to consider. “The outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic globally and in India is causing significant disturbance and slowdown of economic activity. The Group’s operations and revenue during the period were impacted due to COVID-19,” the company said in a statement on Friday. For Ambani, the growth was led by Reliance Retail. The retail arm, of Reliance Industries, clocked a 50% growth in its profits to ₹3113 crore, while its revenue has grown by 21% to ₹46,099 crore in the months from January through March, compared to the same period, last year. Reliance also announced on Saturday that it produces over 1000 MT of medical grade liquid oxygen per day — or over 11% of India’s total production. This the company claims meets “the needs of nearly every one in ten patients”. “This oxygen is being provided free-of-cost to several state governments across the country to bring immediate relief to over 1 lakh patients on a daily basis,” said the company.

Reliance Industries’ earnings disappoint markets – stocks fall by over 2% in morning trade

New Delhi, May 4 () Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) on Monday fell over 2 per cent after the company posted its biggest drop in its quarterly net profit. The scrip of the country's most-valued firm closed 2.16 per cent lower at Rs 1,435.40 after declining 3.22 per cent to Rs 1,419.75 during the day on the BSE. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), it fell 2.11 per cent to close at Rs 1,435. In terms of traded volume, 9.79 lakh shares were traded at the BSE and over 2 crore shares on the NSE during the day. The company's market valuation was at Rs 9,09,947.98 crore. The firm's net profit in January-March fell 37 per cent to Rs 6,546 crore, the lowest in three years, as a rise in consumer-facing business was not enough to shield the firm from fall in the petrochemical business. The profit was also down due to a one-off spending. The company's board approved a rights issue of Rs 53,125 crore, which it said was the biggest in India and the first by RIL in three decades. "The price of rights issue has been determined at Rs 1,257 per share and the share ratio at 1:15," the company said in a statement on Thursday. Domestic equity markets were closed on Friday on account of 'Maharashtra Day'. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Silver Lake, one of the world's largest tech investors, agreed to invest Rs 5,655.75 crore to buy a 1.15 per cent stake in Jio Platforms.  Refining margins have been muted last few months due to the fall in demand for oil products. Oil product demand growth stalled to nearly zero and there is oversupply of gasoline and naphtha, Morgan Stanley said in a report on July 10. However, According to research firm CGSCIMB, margins from petrochemicals have dropped sharply since April 2019 and the decline has been sharpest in paraxylene, which has flowed through across the polyester chain. That would mean the decline in profit would be pronounced in Reliance mainstay business, the report added. Gross refining margin of $8.1 per barrel in the last quarter was the lowest in 18 quarters. The fear of slump in one of the important business segment has weighed on Reliance's share price in recent months.  While Jio may be the rising star in Reliance Industries portfolio spanning from oil and gas exploration to petrochemicals to retail, the telecom venture brings its share of anxiety to the investor's mind-- debt. The company's total debt has increased over 58% in the last two years largely due to the investments made in Jio as well as the cash burnt in winning over the millions of customers. Reliance Jio has today managed to raise as much as ₹25,215 crore from a Canadian asset management company, Brookfield’s subsidiary--BIF IV Jarvis India. The revenue from Reliance Retail grew to ₹41,202 crores as opposed to ₹32,436 crores in the same quarter last year.  The retail segment of Reliance industries saw its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) grow over one and half times to ₹2,727 crore compared to the same period last year. “Retail is our hyper growth business. Our consumer business grew 12%, retail business delivered 15 consecutive quarters of revenue and EBITDA growth and 7 quarters of margin profit,” Agarwal added. The ‘future’ of Reliance Brands Reliance Brands, a subsidiary of the retail unit, increased its equity shareholding in Future101 by 2.5% for a consideration of ₹2 crore, taking its total stake in Future101 to 17.5%.
