New Delhi, Jan 22 () The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said its BS-VI compliant vehicles have reached cumulative sales of 5 lakh units ahead of the implementation of stricter emission norms from April 1.
The company is now offering ten models with BS-VI compliant petrol engines, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in a statement.
"This achievement reaffirms the growth potential of new engines and technologies in India," MSIL Managing Director &amp; CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said.
He further said,"Early introduction of the BS-VI compliant engine in our popular models represents our commitment to the government's vision for clean and green environment."
 MSIL introduced its first BS-VI compliant petrol car in April 2019, a full year in advance from the mandatory deadline. The company's range of BS-VI compliant petrol models includes Alto, Eeco, S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Swift, Baleno, Dzire, Ertiga and XL6. 
 "These contribute nearly 75 per cent of the company's petrol volumes," MSIL said.
Upgrading from the current BS-IV, from April 1, 2020 BS-VI will be mandatory and automakers will be able to sell only those vehicles complying with the stricter emission norms in India. RKL ANU

New Delhi, Jun 23 () Seventeen employees of a security agency employed at Maruti Suzuki India's (MSI) Manesar (Haryana) plant have disappeared after testing positive for COVID-19. The employees, who belong to security agency SIS India, had tested positive for the infectious disease on June 17 and were supposed to be quarantined as per the law. An FIR has now been lodged at Industrial Sector-7, Manesar against the missing employees and their manager for the disappearing act. As per the FIR lodged by the government doctor posted at PHC Bhangrola, Gurugram, the workers tested positive for COVID-19 on June 17, and their manager was informed on the same day about their status. The manager informed the health authorities that the workers have been quarantined and were asymptomatic, as per the FIR. "But when our medical team reached the site on June 18, all these 17 patients have already left without any information. This is for your information and action to be taken as per Disaster Management Act," the FIR read. When contacted, a MSI spokesperson confirmed the incident. "The people in question who tested positive are not Maruti Suzuki employees. They are outsourced/contractual vigilance staff deputed with the company," the spokesperson told . The company is following all the government guidelines and directives and will extend all assistance and cooperation wherever required, the spokesperson added. MSI, however, did not say if the production at the plant has been impacted because of employees involved in security process turning out to be COVID-19 positive. Comments from SIS India could not be obtained immediately. Last month, MSI had reported one coronavirus case at the Manesar plant. The auto major had resumed operations at Manesar plan in May after around 50 days of closure due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. The facility produces high selling models like Alto, Swift, Dzire, S-Presso, Ertiga and Baleno. The company's other plant at Gurugram rolls out models like S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ignis and Super Carry light commercial vehicle. The Manesar and Gurugram plants have a combined installed capacity to churn out over 15.5 lakh vehicles per annum. New Delhi, May 17 () The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Sunday said it will resume production at its Gurgaon plant from Monday, after 57 days of closure due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.The company would re-start production of vehicles at its Gurgaon plant from May 18, MSI said in a statement.All activities will be carried out strictly in accordance with the government regulations and guidelines and observing the company's own concern for the highest standards of safety, it added.The auto major has resumed operations at its Manesar-based plant (Haryana) last week after around 50 days of closure.Both Manesar and Gurugram plants have an installed capacity to churn out over 15.5 lakh vehicles per annum.The Gurugram facility rolls out models like S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ignis and Super Carry light commercial vehicle.The Manesar plant, on the other hand, produces high selling models like Alto, Swift, Dzire, S-Presso, Ertiga and Baleno.MSI had suspended work at both of its plants on March 22 after nationwide lockdown was announced to fight spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country.On April 22, the Haryana government had granted permission to the auto major to restart its Manesar manufacturing facility, but the company had said it will resume operations only when it can maintain continuous production and sell vehicles, "which is not possible at this point of time".The Gurugram district administration had allowed the auto major to run the facility on a single shift basis, while fixing the total number of employees at plant at 4,696.The company has already announced opening of about one-third of its dealers, with 60 per cent of them having commenced operations in rural areas.MSI has around 3,080 dealerships across 1,960 cities.It is the latest carmaker to restart operations in the third phase of the nationwide lockdown, which has significantly impacted economic activity.Various other automakers like Hyundai, Toyota, Renault and Nissan have also announced partial resumption of operations in the last few days. New Delhi, Mar 6 () The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India cut production by 5.38 per cent in February at 1,40,933 units, according to a regulatory filing by the company. Maruti Suzuki India had produced a total of 1,48,959 units in the same month last year. Total passenger vehicle production stood at 1,40,370 units last month as against 1,47,550 units in February 2019, a decline of 4.87 per cent, it added. The company increased production of its mini cars comprising Alto, and S-Presso by 5.16 per cent at 29,676 units as against 28,221 units in the year-ago month. However, it reduced production of compact cars, including WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, OEM Model (Glanza supplied to Toyota) and Dzire by 5.55 per cent at 75,142 units as compared to 79,556 units in February last year. Production of mid-sized sedan Ciaz was at 2,950 units last month as against 2,729 units in the same period a year ago, an increase of 8 per cent, the company added. Similarly, utility vehicles consisting of Gypsy, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL-6 and S-Cross models also witnessed increase in production by 7.9 per cent at 21,737 units as compared to 20,146 units in the year-ago period. Vans, comprising Eeco and Omni, production stood at 10,865 units as compared to 16,898 units in February last year, down 35.7 per cent. New Delhi, May 23 () An employee at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a company spokesperson. The company is also looking at "a possibility of a second case" of infection at the facility but has ruled out any impact on the business part due to the situation. The country's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) had re-opened the Manesar facility earlier this month after around 50 days of closure due to coronavirus-led lockdown. "One employee of the company's Manesar plant tested positive on May 22, 2020 for COVID-19," the spokesperson told when contacted over the matter. The said employee had last attended the plant on May 15 with normal health after which his residence area came into a containment zone and he did not join work thereafter, he said. The district administration was informed about the employee who has since been admitted in the hospital and his condition is stable, he added. MSI is providing all medical help and assistance to the infected employee as per government guidelines, the spokesperson said. On the status of another employee possibly infected with the virus, the spokesperson said: "There may be a possibility of a second case of infection that has just been reported. More information is being sought." The automaker, in the confirmed case, has undertaken a contact tracing exercise and out of abundant caution, all employees who could have come in contact are advised to stay in home isolation, he said. The company has in place a robust and carefully designed standard operating procedure (SOP) for maximum safety against infection spread at the workplace and transit, which goes well beyond compliance requirement, the spokesperson said. In addition, there is also a COVID-19 Task Force that closely monitors adherence to the SOP in the company, the spokesperson added. MSI had resumed production at its Gurugram plant from May 18. Employee at Maruti's Manesar plant tests positive for COVID-19

New Delhi, Jan 8 () The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Wednesday reported a 7.88 per cent increase in production in December at 1,15,949 units, the second successive month of hike after reducing it for nine months in a row due to demand slump.
 The company had produced 1,07,478 units in December 2018, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing.
 The biggest hike in production was in the compact segment comprising new WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, OEM Model and Dzire, at 62,448 units as against 44,329 units in the year-ago month, an increase of 40.87 per cent.
 The mini segment consisting of Alto, S-Presso, old WagonR saw a 9.54 per cent decline at 25,613 units as compared to 28,314 units in the same month in 2018, it added.
 Utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL-6, S-Cross production stood at 19,825 units in Decmber 2019 as against 16,436 units in the same month a year ago, up 20.62 per cent, the company said.
 MSI said mid-sized sedan Ciaz production stood at 894 units as compared to 1,516 units in the corresponding month in 2018, while those of vans Eeco and Omni saw 62.16 percent cut at 6,182 units as compared to 16,338 units in the same month a year ago.
 Production of light commercial vehicle Super Carry increased to 987 units in December 2019 from 545 units in the year-ago month, the company added.
 In November last year also the company had increased its production 4.33 per cent, after having reduced output for nine straight months due to lower demand. The company produced a total of 1,41,834 units in November 2019 as against 1,35,946 units in the year-ago month. RKL RUJ
