A massive fire broke out at a gaming zone in Gujarat's Rajkot city on May 25 evening resulting in the loss of 27 lives including children. "It is an unfortunate incident...for the inquiry into this an SIT team has been formed...which department has done what all, a full probe will be conducted on this. Who is responsible for this and what all mistakes have happened, to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, what needs to be done, all these things, we will go to the root of the matter. A complete probe will be conducted," <keyword id="21812005" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SIT-Head-Subhash-Trivedi" source="Orion">SIT Head Subhash Trivedi</keyword> said while talking to ANI. Earlier, <keyword id="763625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gujarat-Home-Minister" source="Orion">Gujarat Home Minister</keyword> Harsh Sanghvi on Sunday took stock of the area where a massive fire broke out inside a gaming zone and said that one person is still missing after the tragic incident. He said that it is on priority to find the missing person. "Our first priority is that...as per the information we have, one person is still missing and it is our responsibility to look for the person. We are deploying maximum teams for that...," Sanghvi told reporters. Sanghvi also informed that all officials have been instructed to be present at the Collector's office by 3 am and he will also be sitting in the Collector's office. "A very sad incident took place at Rajkot, many family members lost their loved ones and many children have also died in the incident...SIT has been instructed to start the investigation by 3 am... all officials of those depts under which the responsibility of game zone construction lies, have been instructed to be present at the Collector's office by 3 am today. All types of investigations will begin today itself and soon action will be taken to serve justice. After doing the inspection here I will be sitting in Collector's office," Harsh Sanghvi said. Chandigarh, May 11 () The Haryana government on Monday appointed senior IAS officer T C Gupta as head of the special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged theft of seized liquor from two godowns in Sonipat district.About the liquor stock going missing, Home Minister Anil Vij had on Sunday said it is not an ordinary theft case and an in-depth probe is needed to uncover those involved in it.He had recommended to the chief minister that the three-member SIT should be headed by a senior IAS officer for a thorough probe looking into all possible angles involved in the case.Vij had given names of senior IAS officers Ashok Khemka, Sanjeev Kaushal and T C Gupta, requesting Chief Minister M L Khattar to pick up any one of these officer to head the SIT or suggest a name on his own.Gupta, who is additional chief secretary in the department of power, employment and renewable energy, will head the team, an order issued by the state home department said.The other members of the SIT will be Subhash Yadav, additional director general of police, State Vigilance Bureau, Gurgaon, and Vijay Singh, additional excise and taxation commissioner. The SIT will check the actual availability of stock in all warehouses and godowns that were sealed by the excise department during the last two years for any violation, it said. This means that the SIT will check whether the stock of liquor which was there on the date of sealing is actually the same or not."The SIT will also examine cases of seizure of illicit/non-excise duty paid liquor in Haryana from the period, April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020, both by the police and excise departments separately with special reference to the action taken and the fines imposed by the excise department pursuant to the recovery of the liquor," the order said.It will also collect and collate the result of investigation of the FIRs registered from March 15 till April 10 in different parts of the state for pilferage of liquor from the godowns and also from the Malkhanas (strong rooms) of police stations, as per the order.The report will be submitted by the SIT by May 31, the order issued by the home department.The Haryana Police on Saturday seized Rs 97 lakh in cash, two pistols and three mobile phones besides a sports utility vehicle following a raid in a house to nab the prime accused in the case of missing liquor stocks from the two godowns in Sonipat.The Sonipat police raided the house of accused Bhupinder Singh, but he managed to escape, said officials. However, later on, he surrendered before the police.The godowns in Sonipat from where the liquor stock was reported missing are stated to belong to accused Bhupinder Singh's wife. SUN VSD ANBANB

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased in the <keyword id="21806490" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajkot-game-zone-fire" source="Orion">Rajkot game zone fire</keyword> incident, his office said on Sunday. The injured persons would be given Rs 50,000, the <keyword id="99985" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Ministers-Office" source="Orion">Prime Minister's Office</keyword> said on X. The Gujarat government has also announced an <keyword id="113765" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ex-gratia" source="Orion">ex gratia</keyword> of Rs 4 lakh to kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured persons. Twenty seven persons, including four children, were killed and three others injured in the massive fire that swept through the game zone in Nana-Mava locality of Gujarat's <keyword id="6361800" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajkot" source="Orion">Rajkot</keyword> city Saturday evening, as per officials. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and PM Modi had expressed grief over the incident. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited Rajkot on Sunday morning. He inspected the fire tragedy site and also met family members of the victims. He offered condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a press statement. Patel later held a high-level review meeting at the Hirasar Airport in Rajkot regarding the rescue and relief work, treatment of the injured, and other measures taken by the local administration. During the meeting, he instructed the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict and punitive action against those responsible for the tragedy, the CMO said. The CM was briefed about the prompt action taken by fire teams of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and police in carrying out the rescue and relief operations soon after the fire incident was reported. For the identification of the bodies, their samples were collected and sent for DNA analysis to a forensic science laboratory in Gandhinagar through an air ambulance, officials informed the CM. They also told the CM that priority was given to shifting the injured persons to hospital and saving people from the fire. A burns ward with a capacity of 100 beds was set up at the civil hospital and surgeons and trained nurses were immediately called to Rajkot from Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Morbi, Junagadh, and Bhavnagar, as per the release. Additional Director General of Police Subhash Trivedi and other members of the state-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) reached Rajkot late Saturday night to carry out a probe into the cause of the incident and hand over a preliminary report to the Gujarat government within three days. Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay has ordered the closure of all game zones in different cities of the state as a precautionary measure, and safety measures including related to fire are being verified, the chief minister was told in the meeting.
