New Delhi, Nov 29 () Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TPDDL) on Friday said Ganesh Srinivasan has been appointed as its new chief executive officer (CEO).
 The appointment is with effect from December 2, TPDDL said in a statement.
 "Srinivasan will take over from Sanjay Banga, who has been elevated to the position of president of transmission and distribution (T&amp;D) at Tata Power, Mumbai. In his new role, Banga will take care of all-India operations of Tata Power related to transmission and distribution sector," it said.
 Prior to moving to TPDDL, He was the chief of transmission and distribution at Tata Power, Mumbai.
 He has been with Tata Power since September 2012 and has also headed Strategy &amp; Corporate Planning Division there. He brings with him two decades of experience in areas like power utility, infrastructure (cement, steel), product development &amp; manufacturing and automotive sector.
 Srinivasan, a BTech from IIT-Madras, also holds an MBA degree from the Indian School of Business and has pursued Masters in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, USA.
 "Srinivasan has a proven track record and he is a passionate leader. His ability to drive performance and work seamlessly with stakeholders will be valuable for Tata Power-DDL," Praveer Sinha, chief executive officer &amp; managing director of Tata Power and chairman of Tata Power-DDL, said.

Ganesh Srinivasan appointed TPDDL CEO

New Delhi, Dec 23 () Tata Power on Monday said it has emerged as the successful bidder to own the licence for distribution and retail supply of electricity in Odisha's five circles together constituting Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (CESU).
 In a regulatory filing the company said the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has awarded the Letter of Intent (LOI) to Tata Power Company Ltd for the acquisition of CESU Power Distribution in Odisha.
 The five electrical cirlces constituting CESU are the areas of Bhubaneswar (Electrical Circle - I and II), Cuttack, Paradip and Dhenkanal.
 The license is being offered for 25 years initially.
 "The proposed sale of CESU to Tata Power will be through the formation of a special purpose vehicle entity. Tata Power has been informed that Government of Odisha will own 49 per cent equity stake in the proposed SPV and Tata Power will hold 51 per cent equity with their management," the filing added.
 Presently, Tata Power has total consumer base of 2.5 million across Mumbai, Delhi and Ajmer and with the acquisition of CESU, its consumer base would double and touch five million consumers.
 CESU is spread over 30,000 Sq km with population of over 1.4 crore and consumer base of 2.5 million. The average demand of CESU is around 1,300 MW with the annual input energy of 8,400 MUs (FY2018).
 "Recently, our focus has been on increasing the company's existing footprint in distribution of electricity through Public-Private-Partnerships (PPP) with discoms. This tie up with CESU is the latest such partnership in the distribution business," Tata Power CEO &amp; MD Praveer Sinha said.
 "We hope to transform Orissa distribution system with 24x7 reliable power and unmatched customer services with extensive social engagement using our existing experience in distribution of electricity in Delhi, Mumbai and Ajmer," Tata Power President-T&amp;D Sanjay Banga said.
 Tata Power is a leading integrated power company and, together with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed capacity of 10,763 MW.
 The shares of Tata Power were trading at Rs 55.50, up 0.18 per cent on the BSE in morning trade. SID DRR

New Delhi, Jun 1 () Tata Power on Monday said it has completed the acquisition of 51 per cent stake in TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL) for Rs 178.5 crore. TPCODL carries out the business of Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (CESU). The acquisition paves the way for taking over the power supply business of five cities in Odisha by Tata Power. "Tata Power has today acquired 51 per cent equity stake in TPCODL at a consideration of Rs 178.5 crore," a Tata Power statement said. According to the statement, GRIDCO will hold the rest 49 per cent stake in TPCODL. TPCODL was incorporated on April 6, 2020 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of GRIDCO to carry out the business of CESU. Tata Power said it has taken over the management of CESU, after receiving the Letter of Intent from the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) for the distribution and retail supply of electricity in Odisha's five circles consisting of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradeep and Dhenkanal. As per an order issued by OERC on May 28, 2020, Tata Power will hold 51 per cent equity with management control and state-owned GRIDCO will have the remaining 49 per cent equity stake in the company. New Delhi, Jun 2 () Shares of Tata Power on Tuesday settled nearly 8 per cent up after the company said it has completed the acquisition of 51 per cent stake in TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd for Rs 178.5 crore. The stock advanced 7.46 per cent to close at Rs 42.50 on the BSE. During the day, it zoomed 8.34 per cent to Rs 42.85. On the NSE, it gained 7.98 per cent to settle at Rs 42.60. In traded volume terms, 37.30 lakh shares were traded on the BSE and 7.55 crore on the NSE. State utility NTPC said distribution company BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, which sells electricity in the central and eastern parts of the city of about 16 million people, must clear its dues or else supplies would be cut from February 11.
Citing lower tariffs and a shortfall in revenues, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, an arm of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, has already expressed its inability to pay state-run power generation companies.
The row could result in an outage of up to 10 hours a day, exacerbating problems for Delhi's newly-elected Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, elected on the promise of cutting electricity tariffs for millions of Delhi's voters.
Kejriwal, a former anti-corruption activist, recently asked the state auditor to look into the accounts power distribution companies to see if they are profiteering. The companies have challenged the move in a court.
BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd are the other companies that sell electricity to consumers of Delhi.
BSES Yamuna Power Ltd on Friday warned the local government of power cuts and Kejriwal responded with a warning of a possible cancellation of its licences. But Delhi's power sector regulator approved a 6-8 percent tariff increase.

ADB's Hoe Yun Jeong said the project demonstrates an innovative financing arrangement, the first of its kind for ADB, by combining sovereign and non-sovereign loans for a state government-owned enterprise. This is intended to significantly reduce the sovereign exposure and help BESCOM move towards a market-based approach for raising funds for capital expenditure. In parallel to underground distribution cables, more than 2,800 km of fibre optical cables would be installed to strengthen the communication network. Moving about 7,200 km of distribution lines underground would help reduce technical and commercial losses by nearly 30 per cent. The fibre optical cables would be used for smart metering systems, distribution automation system (DAS) in the distribution grid, and other communication networks. The project would install 1,700 automated ring main units adapted with a DAS to monitor and control the distribution line switchgears from the control centre. ADB signs $100 million loan with government to boost power distribution system in Bengaluru

Ola Electric partners with BSES to set up EV charging stations in Delhi

The Tata Power CEO said the company has been engaged in power distribution across Odisha and is committed to ensure ease-of-doing business through quality power supply. "Tata Power is committed to ensure 'Udyog Ru Pragati' (progress through entrepreneurship) by offering high-quality and affordable power supply to enable a conducive environment for industrial development. Our clean and green energy products and solutions in e-mobility, decentralised generation, agriculture, and demand side management will further ensure an all-round sustainable development of the state," Sinha said. He said Tata Power is also working with Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in deploying charging infrastructure at multi-level car parking lots and public utilities like hospitals, universities, malls, and at important city hubs. The company is also in early stages to explore the development of green hydrogen hubs in the Paradeep region to meet industrial demands, he said, adding that Tata Power is also working towards the solarization of the agriculture sector in association with the state government. The company has already installed over 700 solar pumps in addition to 1,200 dual pump for community drinking application across the state. It has planned to install 30,000 solar pumps over the next five years, he said. Welcoming the state's new Renewable Energy Policy 2022, Sinha said the incentives provisions like electricity duty waiver, wheeling charge waiver, cross subsidy surcharge waiver, state transmission utility charge waiver are very encouraging. He said Tata Power is working towards the electrification of remote villages by setting up microgrids. A technical feasibility study has been carried out in several villages in the Mayurbhanj District to set up microgrids for transformation of the rural/ tribal economy.
