<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vijay+Mallya">Vijay Mallya</a> led <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=United+Breweries">United Breweries </a>said today they haven’t received any notice from the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Serious+Fraud+Investigation+Office">Serious Fraud Investigation Office</a> (SFIO) in connection to alleged fund diversions by the group’s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kingfisher+Airlines">Kingfisher Airlines</a>. 
 
"We would like to inform you that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=United+Breweries">United Breweries</a> Ltd (UBL) has not received any kind of notice from SFIO nor is aware of any development in this regard," the company said in a filing to the BSE. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=United+Breweries">United Spirits</a> had confirmed yesterday that the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Serious+Fraud+Investigation+Office">Serious Fraud Investigation Office</a> (SFIO) has asked for information about the diversion of company funds. The company they have only received a letter from the SFIO. 
 
UBL's filing is in response to BSE’s instruction to clarify if funds were diverged to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kingfisher+Airlines">Kingfisher Airlines</a>. 
 Shares of <keyword id="81868" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="United-Breweries">United Breweries</keyword> fell 1.84% to Rs 851.45 on the BSE today.

Breweries denies Fraud Investigation notice

Vijay Mallya-led <keyword id="81868" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="United-Breweries">United Breweries</keyword> reported more than elevenfold rise in net profit to Rs 67.71 crore in the last quarter of FY2013-14. 
 
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 5.85 crore during the corresponding period of FY2012-13. 
 
For FY2013-14, the company reported a net profit of Rs 226.02 crore as compared to Rs 172.11 crore in the previous fiscal (2012-13). 
 
"The fourth quarter performance was in line with expectations and similar to that in the previous quarter," the company said. 
 
“The positive development in revenue has been partly driven by price increases and partly through optimisation of sales mix,” it added. 
 
The Bangalore-based firm, which markets various beer brands, including Kingfisher and Zingaro, said its board has approved to acquire assets of Pacific Spirits for Rs 105 crore. 
 
The brewery is located at Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan. The acquisition is subject to due diligence and securing necessary approvals, United Breweries added. 
 
"The parties are in the process of completing various formalities for issue of statutory licenses and permissions in the name of United Breweries Ltd. Upon receipt of necessary approvals and completion of due diligence, requisite documents for sale of brewery assets shall be registered," it said.

United Breweries’ Q4 Net Profit Rises More Than
Elevenfold

<keyword id="219798" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Heineken-NV">Heineken NV</keyword>, the world's third-largest brewer, is seeking to raise its stake in <keyword id="240103" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="United-Breweries-Ltd">United Breweries Ltd</keyword> to gain full management control as it bet on the country’s growing market for beer, sources with direct knowledge of the matter said. The Dutch brewer, the single largest shareholder in United Breweries with a 42.07 percent stake, plans to take that holding beyond 50 percent by buying shares from liquor baron <keyword id="14678" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vijay-Mallya">Vijay Mallya</keyword> and his group firms, the sources said. 

	The stake hike, a bet on one of the world's fastest growing beer markets, will be completed in a phased manner over the next couple of years, said the two sources, who declined to be named as the talks are private. 
 A spokeswoman for Heineken in <keyword id="22442" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amsterdam">Amsterdam</keyword> declined to comment. A spokesman for UB Group, Mallya's group holding company, said that there had been no discussions on a stake sale in United Breweries.

Heineken seeking controlling stake in United Breweries

New Delhi, Feb 6 () United Breweries on Thursday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 107 crore for quarter ended on December 31, 2019, against Rs 109.48 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Consolidated total income from operations of the company stood at Rs 3,257.61 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was Rs 3,191.32 crore for the same period year ago. United Breweries posts Q3 net profit at Rs 107 cr

<keyword id="6376435" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ministry-of-corporate-affairs">Ministry of Corporate Affairs</keyword> and the <keyword id="65338" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Income-Tax-Department">Income Tax Department</keyword> has issued notices to <keyword id="6355394" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="United-Spirits">United Spirits</keyword> after the company’s current administration ordered an enquiry over loans given away by <keyword id="14678" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vijay-Mallya">Vijay Mallya</keyword>’s <keyword id="81868" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="United-Breweries">United Breweries</keyword>. 
 
According to media reports the company has asked the present CEO Anand Kripalu to look into "possible existence of any other transaction of a similar nature". "The Board also believes that it is necessary to assess whether additional matters or the transactions with the additional parties were improper." USL asserted. 
 
In September 2014, USL ordered an investigation into the “role of individuals involved and potential non-compliance” of the Companies Act, 1956. This happened after Diageo bought a whopping 55% stake in the company for around $3 billion. 
 
Come April this year, the Diageo led new management asked Vijay Mallya to give up chairmanship of USL. It alleged that several legal violations were found in an enquiry into loans worth Rs. 1,337 crore given by USL to United Breweries. 
 
Mallya however refused to quit saying that Diageo has ‘contractual obligation’ to support him as Chairman and Director.

MCA and I-T would probe United Spirits

UB group chairman <keyword id="14678" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vijay-Mallya">Vijay Mallya</keyword> has said that he would pursue legal action against the ‘<keyword id="2168141" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wilful-defaulter">wilful defaulter</keyword>’ tag. 
 “We were not given a hearing, we have not appeared before them, we disagree with their action and we shall pursue legal action. I have great faith in the judicial system of our country and as I have said, I will pursue the legal remedies that are available to me,” Mallya said after the annual general meeting of <keyword id="81868" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="United-Breweries">United Breweries</keyword>. 
 United Bank of India declared Mallya ‘wilful defaulter’ on Monday as his company <keyword id="6373962" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kingfisher-Airlines">Kingfisher Airlines</keyword>, which is now grounded, had allegedly diverted funds by opening multiple accounts. 
 
United Bank of India is the first PSU bank to declare Mallya ‘wilful defaulter.’

Mallya To Explore Legal Option Against ‘Wilful Defaulter’ Tag

A consortium of 17 banks, led by State Bank of India, has slapped a contempt case against liquor baron <keyword id="14678" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vijay-Mallya">Vijay Mallya</keyword>, his grounded airline <keyword id="6373962" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kingfisher-Airlines">Kingfisher Airlines</keyword> and United Breweries Holdings Limited (<keyword id="6656246" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="UBHL">UBHL</keyword>). In the petition that they have filed in the Karnataka High Court, they have alleged violation of an oral undertaking that he had given to the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT). 
 
“We have filed a contempt application in the High Court against Kingfisher Airlines, United Breweries Holdings Limited (UBHL) and Dr Vijay Mallya for violating an undertaking given before DRT…,” PTI quoted N Chintan Chinappa, counsel for consortium of banks as saying. 
 
Chinappa argued in the court that “an undertaking was given before the DRT that neither would the unencumbered assets be alienated nor dealt with, but Mallya went ahead and created pledges in violation.” The High Court then issued a contempt notice against Mallya. 
 
In total, all the banks had lent more than Rs 7,000 crore to Kingfisher Airlines, which has been grounded for long.

The 8,000 barrel brewery will be in Stockholm, <keyword id="23050" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sweden">Sweden</keyword>, and it should be open by the end of 2013. The plant and restaurant will look over Stockholm's harbor.
So, why Sweden?
It's actually the brewery's second-largest market, behind New York City and has a vibrant <keyword id="6359860" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="beer">beer</keyword> culture.
“This is a project that takes us deeper into the Swedish market with a local brewing presence and allows us to get into the fabric of the Swedish brewing culture,” <a href="http://www.brewbound.com/news/brooklyn-brewery-opening-new-5-million-facility-in-sweden">COO Eric Ottoway told Brewbound</a>. “It will give us the flexibility to do small, locally produced batches where we collaborate with local brewers and chefs in a way we can’t currently.”
The project will cost around $5 million and will be managed and operated by a wholly-owned subsidiary in Sweden. <keyword id="71339" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Brooklyn">Brooklyn</keyword> will oversee parts of the business.

BROOKLYN, NY—Brooklyn Brewery, D. Carnegie &amp; Co., and Carlsberg Sweden today announced the launch of a new brewery and restaurant in central Stockholm.
The Brooklyn- New Carnegie Brewery will be built in the landmarked Luma Factory buildings in Hammarby Sjöstad , a residential and commercial complex that fronts on Stockholm harbor. The waterfront brewery will have brewing capacity for 8,000 BBL’s and restaurant capacity for 100 visitors inside and another 150 visitors outside.
The Brooklyn Brewery will manage and operate the project through a wholly owned Swedish subsidiary, and Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver and his team will be brewing special Brooklyn beers and developing new beers for the New Carnegie brand.
“We love Stockholm, and the whole Brooklyn brewing team is looking forward to their stints at Brooklyn-New Carnegie. We’re going to have a lot of fun brewing and creating beers with our Swedish team,” said Oliver.
In 2011, the Brooklyn Brewery collaborated with Carnegie to produce a bourbon barrel-aged version of the world classic beer Carnegie Porter to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Carnegie Brewery.
“We distributed Carnegie Porter years ago in New York,” said Brooklyn Brewery Chief Operating Officer Eric Ottaway, who is spearheading the project for the Brooklyn Brewery. “We have great respect for the tradition that Carnegie represents, and we look forward to developing the portfolio of beers.”
Joakim Losin, CEO of New Carnegie, said the brewery and restaurant would be a meeting place for Sweden’s craft brewers and their followers, and a school for Swedish beer lovers to learn more about craft beer. The new brewery/restaurant will be open for tours and regular lunches and dinners. It also will host special events in a demonstration kitchen.
Carnegie is the oldest trademark in Sweden. The company was purchased by Carlsberg when it bought the Pripps Brewery in 2001, and Carlsberg Sweden was established.
Brooklyn Brewery brands have been imported by Carlsberg Sweden since 2006. Sweden is the largest export market for the Brooklyn Brewery.
Brooklyn ships many of its bottled beers to Sweden, including its flagship Brooklyn Lager and its 750-ml bottle-conditioned beers like Brooklyn Local 1 and Brooklyn Sorachi Ace. It also ships tankers of beer to Sweden which are kegged in Falkenberg. Brooklyn Lager and Brooklyn East India Pale Ale are available on draft all over Sweden.
Brooklyn Brewery is America’s leading craft beer exporter. Brooklyn also has a joint venture partnership with the Amarcord Brewery in Apecchio, Italy. Brooklyn imports Amarcord’s Ama Bionda and Ama Bruna beers to the United States.

Recycled wastewater tends to actually be cleaner than the water breweries can get on-site, multiple brewery owners told the Times. And their claim is backed up by environmental engineers. Last year, Stanford professor William Mitch <a href="https://engineering.stanford.edu/magazine/cleanest-drinking-water-recycled#:~:text=Mitch%20and%20his%20colleagues%20discovered,rivers%20across%20the%20United%20States.">published a study</a> showing that wastewater recycled using reverse osmosis resulted in a product as clean as groundwater, sometimes even more so. There is, of course, still a level of squeamishness among customers — though it helps that the taste of the recycled wastewater is no different than tap water, brewer Chris Garrett told the Times.Researchers are actively working to further refine the efficiency of water recycling technology. Just last month, NASA <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/news/water_recovery_milestone">reported</a> that scientists on the International Space Station had successfully recycled 98% of their wastewater for the first time.
