<ul><li>The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to win most of the seats in India’s national capital, New Delhi. </li><li>Keeping star power on its side, like Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari and Olympic boxer Vijender Singh, seems to have worked in the party’s favour. </li><li>The results of the Lok Sabha election haven’t been announced yet, but the BJP is reportedly already gearing up for the city’s assembly elections next year.</li></ul>India’s national capital, Delhi, is home to seven of the 545 seats up for grabs in the <keyword id="4577611" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha-election-2019">Lok Sabha election 2019</keyword>. The number of seats may not matter as much as the significance of winning in Delhi. Any constituency that’s not going to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is being credited to Congress. Since 1998, the political party that won the general election in Delhi has gone on to form the government. Bringing contestants like the former Bhojpuri actor, Manoj Tiwari, in North East Delhi, singer, Hans Raj Hans, in North West Delhi and former cricketer, Gautam Gambhir in East Delhi may have worked in the BJP’s favour with different exit polls predicting that the national party is set to take home at least five seats from Delhi. BJP relied on star power during the polls, Congress stuck to legacy politics and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s platform was based on their municipal successes. During the 2014 election, BJP’s victory was unanimous with the political party winning over all seven seats. Now, the party is taking the exit polls an indication of their majority, has already planning for the Delhi’s assembly elections scheduled to take place in 2020 with reports of Tiwari taking meeting with official from municipal boards in the city. Before the polls, traders in the city already opined that while AAP was good for the city, they would still like to see a national party in power to represent the Delhi’s interests in Parliament. Past electoral experiences show that the city’s voting pattern differs greatly when it comes to the national elections versus state elections.

Delhi Lok Sabha Election Results 2019: BJP prepares to celebrate its win in Delhi

The <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> is likely be invited by Lieutenant governor <keyword id="2029087" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Naseeb-Jung">Naseeb Jung</keyword> to form the government in Delhi, which has been under the President's rule since February. Jung has reportedly sought President <keyword id="6359124" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pranab-Mukherjee">Pranab Mukherjee</keyword>'s nod to invite the single-largest party to form the government. 
 It may be noted that Delhi has been under President's Rule since February when <keyword id="6354944" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aam-Aadmi-Party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> leader Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the chief minister. The President is believed to have forwarded the Lieutenant Governor's letter to the Union Home Ministry for its opinion. 
 
The BJP, with 29 legislators, is the single-largest party in the Delhi Assembly. It had won 32 seats in the last year elections that gave a fractured verdict, but three of its members later won the Lok Sabha elections. 
 
The Aam Aadmi Party has 28 MLAs and it is the second-largest party.

The Bharatiya Janata party was leading with seven out of seven seats in Delhi. Axis My India Exit Poll predictions forecast that <keyword id="6356115" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword> might not score any seat in the capital of India where the party has fielded its candidates from all the 7 constituencies. Even in 2014 elections, the AAP could not secure a single seat in Delhi as the election proved a clean sweep for the BJP from the capital giving it all the 7 seats. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the AAP contested 432 seats out of 543. The party secured 4 seats among all of them. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AAP contested all 13 seats in Punjab. The key candidates for Arvind Kejriwals’ party from Punjab who repeated the elections after having fought in 2014 elections are Peter Masi Chira from Gurdaspur, kuldeep singh dhaliwal from Amritsar, Jora singh from Jalandhar, Dr. Ravjot Singh from Hoshiarpur, bhagwat mann from Sngrur, and Baljinder singh Chonda from Fatehgarh Sahib. From Delhi constituencies, AAP fielded the following candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections who are now eagerly waiting to know their results. The AAP candidate for New Delhi is Brijesh Goyal, for East Delhi seat Atishi, for the West Delhi seat Balbir Singh Jakhar, for the South Delhi constituency Raghav Chadha, for the Northwest Delhi seat Guggan Singh, for Northeast Delhi Dilip Pandey, and for Chandni Chowk Pankaj Gupta. AAP fielded its candidates from all the constituencies in Haryana for the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. The party also contested from three seats each in Bihar and UP. In Delhi Lok Sabha elections 2019, there was a triangular contest between Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP, BJP and the Congress Party.
