The company will be looking to hire more than 100 employees for its tech team by March 2022. The company has also announced a first-of-its-kind ‘Referral &amp; Joining Policy’, under which it will offer incentives to both new employees and the existing employees who refer fresh talent. These range between gadgets, appraisals and other perks. For instance, all new tech team joinees will have the option to choose between bike or gadget packages. The Bike Package and Gadget Package is available to anyone referring tech talent to the company. The stock value of diversified conglomerate <keyword id="186707" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="itc-limited" source="Orion">ITC Limited</keyword> saw a fresh three-year high of Rs 316.65 on the stock exchange in Tuesday's intra-day trade. The share value was up by 3 per cent. The development came soon after the company declared its results for the first quarter of FY23, recording an all-round robust growth across businesses in terms of both revenue and profitability. On Monday, <keyword id="1968926" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sanjiv-puri" source="Orion">Sanjiv Puri</keyword> led <keyword id="6357073" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="itc" source="Orion">ITC</keyword> reported a 38 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in its consolidated net profit which stood at Rs 4,169 crore, as compared to Rs 3,013 crore last crore. The company's net sales too saw a 41 per cent spike and stood at Rs 18,164 crore, while EBITDA was up 41.5 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. According to ITC, a strong performance by all business segments is responsible for the Q1 growth. Some of the highlights of the company's performance in FY23 include a record quarterly growth in the revenue and profits for Paperboards, Paper, and Packaging segments; highest quarterly revenue, highest profits in over 14 years, and highest ever Q1 profits in the Hotels segment; and highest quarterly revenue for the Agri and <keyword id="34523" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="fmcg" source="Orion">FMCG</keyword> segments. According to ITC, the out-of-home, and education and stationery segments too performed strongly. People aware about developments within the conglomerate said that through the strategic initiatives led by Sanjiv Puri, ITC's attempts to mitigate high input costs through strategic cost management, premiumization, supply chain agility, judicious pricing actions, fiscal incentives, leveraging digital, optimizing channel assortments, and favorable business mix can be credited for this robust growth. The company's deep and wide multi-channel distribution network with growing presence in emerging channels and tailored channel-specific assortments continue to deliver competitive advantage through superior product availability, visibility, and freshness. "While inflation continues to be a big concern for the industry, moderation in prices of key commodities in recent times, along with strategic interventions by the central government and the <keyword id="6354335" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Reserve Bank of India</keyword>, could result in economic recovery. This could lead to companies like ITC faring well in the coming quarters of FY23 and beyond. In a recent interaction with the media a day after the company's AGM, ITC Chairman Sanjiv Puri had highlighted how an asset-right strategy for Hotels, focus on consumer needs and newer segments for FMCG, and the launch of ITC MAARS for Agri business will create new vectors of growth for the group and enable it to perform better than the industry average. ITC's stock hit a 52-wwek high of Rs 308.80 on Monday ahead of the company announcing its quarterly results. The stock is already up 40 per cent year-to-date. "The industry had expected a strong fiscal quarter show from the company but the Q1 FY23 numbers reflect a performance above expectations. This development is likely to give a fresh upward push to ITC stock in the near future, as is being predicted by most experts," added Rahul Sharma of Equity99. ITC stock hits a 3-year high after strong Q1 results

<ul><li><keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword> and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) are investigating some <keyword id="6367820" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="adani-group">Adani Group</keyword> companies for non-compliance of rules, said Minister of State for finance in parliament.</li><li>Shares of Adani group companies headed by billionaire Gautam Adani have taken a hit on an investigation report.</li><li>However, Adani Group put out a statement saying that it believes in ‘compliance of applicable laws’.</li></ul>On Monday, July 19, Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of State (MoS) for finance told India’s parliament that the country’s market regulator and customs authorities are investigating some Adani Group companies for non-compliance of rules. Shares of Adani Group companies took a hit after news came out that Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) are investigating the group companies. Stocks of Adani Enterprises, <keyword id="895682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Adani-Ports">Adani Ports</keyword> and Special Economic Zones, Adani Green Energy, Adani Power and Adani Transmission closed 1-5% lower on July 19 on such a report. To clear air around the matter, the company released a statement saying, “We have always been transparent with all our regulators and have full faith in them... Adani Group is a responsible corporate citizen and strongly believes in compliance of applicable laws and adheres to prudent corporate governance framework.” Last month, on June 14, shares of these companies had fallen on reports that the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) suspended the accounts of three foreign funds ⁠— all reportedly based out of the same address ⁠— that have over ₹43,000 crore invested in the Adani Group. An Economic Times <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/a/cs-of-3-fpis-owning-adani-shares-frozen/articleshow/83496483.cms">report </a>had stated that the market regulator, SEBI, is investigating if the share price of Adani Group companies has been manipulated. The investigation is still ongoing, the report added. The three accounts in question were Albula Investment Fund, Cresta Fund and APMS Investment Fund. Notably, the accounts were suspended on or before May 31. According to an Economic Times <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/a/cs-of-3-fpis-owning-adani-shares-frozen/articleshow/83496483.cms">report</a>, the suspension could be due to insufficient disclosures under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Adani Group companies in regulator’s radar for non-compliance of rules

<ul><li>The upcoming <keyword id="6358021" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="budget" source="Orion">budget</keyword> may set aside big bucks to support new capacity in solar, wind and hydropower.</li><li>However, experts say, Prime Minister Modi needs the support of state governments to execute these projects and build up India’s capacity to meet the emission targets by 2030.</li><li>The reluctance at the level of states may not even be political. Based on that, expectations are rife that there may be big bucks allocated in the budget to promote the construction of new capacity in solar, wind and hydropower projects. <div type="image" title="2 (2)" height="900" width="1200" msid="89000322" hostid="261"></div>However, the government has been wanting to build up renewables capacity in a big way for a while now. But even for the current year, India is well short of the targets. <div type="image" title="renewable kotak" height="900" width="1200" msid="89000432" hostid="261"></div>The lack of support at the level of state governments is the reason for the shortfall, according to one expert. “The problem is to make those things happen (meet renewable energy commitments) the central government actually has very little tools and resources. These decisions are actually dealt at the state level and frankly states aren't always bought in for these commitments that the central government puts out there,” said Richard Rossow, the Wadhwani Chair in US India Policy Studies at the influential think-tank CSIS. Rossow points out that the states’ reluctance may not even be political. Even states ruled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ⁠— which is also ruling at the Centre ⁠— have not backed the Prime Minister’s agenda wholeheartedly. “Sometimes of the BJP states are some of the worst laggards. And sometimes states that oppose Modi’s agenda are the fastest to jump on board,” added Rossow. Among the top 10 states that have made the best progress in building up renewable energy ⁠— solar, wind and hydropower projects ⁠— sources, only three of them are ruled by, or aligned with, the BJP. <div type="image" title="renewable-states" msid="89000399" hostid="261"></div>Karnataka is the top state because of several reasons like offering incentives and subsidies to promote green buildings, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure deployment, and energy-efficient technology adoption in industries. Recently, <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/renewables/karnataka-invites-elon-musk-to-set-up-tesla-plant/articleshow/88973765.cms">Karnataka also invited Elon Musk </a>to set up a Tesla unit in the state. However, efforts are underway to boost India’s ability to curb emissions and combat climate change. On January 19, the Cabinet cleared ₹1,500 crore for the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA). This will enable IREDA to lend ₹12,000 crores to the renewable energy sector. State-owned lenders like the Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation have cut interest rates for long term loans to renewable energy projects to 7.85%.
