Its $12 million investment in Caelux will help speed up the latter’s product and technology development. Reliance says its agreement with the company also includes technical collaboration and commercialization of Caelux’ technology. “The investment in Caelux aligns with our strategy to create the most advanced green energy manufacturing ecosystem, backed by world class talent, and built on the pillars of technological innovation achieved through strategic partnerships. We believe Caelux’s proprietary perovskite based solar technology provides us with access to the next leg of innovation in crystalline solar modules,” said Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director, Reliance Industries. In August, Mukesh Ambani announced a new Gigafactory for power electronics, wherein it will manufacture photovoltaic panels, and energy storage solutions like battery packs, apart from other things. Caelux is an industry leader in the research and development of perovskite-based solar technology. Perovskite is a semiconductor that is used to transport electric charge, and researchers have found out that it can be used as a replacement for thin-film solar cells. It has also partnered with Denmark’s Stiesdal A/S for its next-gen electrolyser technology to reduce the cost of producing hydrogen from water. So far, Reliance has committed $10 billion in capex for green energy, and analysts at UBS suggest the company will need an additional capex of $26 billion by the end of this decade. Those investments will add $35 billion value to the company, according to UBS, which also notes that new energy is a $20 trillion opportunity. Reliance New Energy picks up 20% stake in Caelux to shore up its position in advanced solar tech

A proposal in this regard was approved by the Board of the company on Thursday, it said. Tata Steel further said the proposed amalgamation is aimed at driving synergies, simplifying the group holding and management structure, and consolidating and strategically growing downstream operations and engineering capabilities. The Board has considered the proposal based on independent fairness and valuation opinions. It followed the process laid down under the Companies Act, 2013 and Securities and Exchange Board of India Regulations. The proposed amalgamation will enhance management efficiency, drive sharper strategic focus and improve agility across businesses based on the strong parental support from the Tata Steel leadership. "On completion, there will be further opportunities towards reduction of overhead and corporate costs. Each of the proposed amalgamations will be value-accretive for shareholders," the company said. TheBoards of all the amalgamating companies have also considered the proposals following due process and have unanimously approved the merger. The proposed amalgamation is also part of Tata Steel's continuing journey to simplify the group holding structure, the company said. Tata Steel board approves merger of six subsidiary companies

However, 35% of Indian households said that they didn’t plan to spend anything this festive season. The report also found that about 12% Indians plan to spend ₹50,000 or more this season. Also, a lot of brands are offering attractive discounts to attract youngsters and family shoppers during the festive season – another big draw. “Some of the contributors to the phenomenon of consumers going back to visiting malls, retail stores, market shops, etc. can be attributed to people spending money in categories like jewellery, automobiles, home renovation/furnishings etc. some of which are traditionally more touch and feel than packaged groceries, consumer electronics, gadgets, etc,” the report said. However, 38% of the respondents are likely to rely on e-commerce websites or depend on the local stores for their purchases this festive season. The report also highlighted that despite low Covid numbers, around 5% still chose home delivery options after selecting from online catalogue by local stores mainly due to lingering fears of the infection. The survey got 58,000 responses from household consumers located in 362 districts of India, including tier 1, 2, and 3 cities and rural districts. One in three Indians to spend more than ₹10,000 on shopping in the upcoming festive season, says report

For FY23, the IT major forecast revenue growth of 8% to 11% in local currency factoring the challenging macro environment. For Q1 FY23, the company gave a revenue guidance of $15.2 billion-$15.75 billion. Accenture follows a September-August financial year. Moreover, the company expects attrition to continue to be an issue for the sector and has factored wage inflation in the revenue growth guidance for next quarter. “We do expect wage inflation to continue, and we have factored that into our guidance,” KC McClure, chief financial officer at Accenture said in a transcript of an earnings conference call. Tight labour markets are a problem as well. Accenture reported attrition levels of 20%, unchanged on a quarterly basis. “Accenture's attrition remained steady QoQ at 20%, implying that labour markets remain tight. Management expects wage inflation to continue going into FY23. Accenture's net hiring in 4Q moderated further to 11K - the lowest in seven quarters, which although higher than pre-Covid levels, does indicate moderation in growth expectations,” said analysts at Jefferies. Disappointing guidance by peer Accenture indicates slowdown for the Indian IT space as well. “Weak revenue guidance for Q1FY23 and FY23, below-consensus expectations, point towards slowing demand ahead for the Indian IT services industry. Plus, slowing pace of hiring for the last two quarters (despite elevated attrition) implies weak demand visibility. We expect a similar slowdown in hiring to continue for Indian IT services as well,” said analysts at ICICI Securities. Meanwhile, shares of most Indian IT companies were trading on a positive note. Analysts say it was a recovery buying following a huge sell off during the year. “After a fall of 30-40% from highs, some recovery is expected to happen in most IT stocks.
