Every single student in 98 schools failed class X. The class XII exams were no better, as all the students in 52 schools failed. The schools in question were a mix of both government and private schools. Class X and XII are high school equivalents in the Indian education system. "This year strict measures were adopted by the state government to check copying. Apart from it, there is a possibility of only a dozen or so students appearing from such schools so we will decide on the fate of all such educational institutes when the board will reopen," Secretary, UPSEB, Neena Srivastava told the <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home/education/dubious-distinction-all-students-fail-in-150-schools/articleshow/63980370.cms">Times of India</a>. She also added that “the board will analyse the results and after that explanation could be sought from principals of these schools in case of a negative report." The board’s office was closed for three days post Sunday. Reports of incessant cheating over the last few years forced the government to take some strict measures this year. Some of these measures <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/india-news/up-board-exam-2018-cheating-mafia-up-in-arms-as-yogi-aditynaths-crackdown-sanitizes-centres/1065550/">included</a> installing CCTV cameras in examination halls and getting rid of people who used to carry loudspeakers, dictating answers to students. A Special Task Force and local intelligence were also brought in to check activities of the so-called ‘cheating mafia’. Sources within the mafia told <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/agra/-exams-turn-serious-now-with-sanitized-centres/articleshow/62906590.cms">The Times Of India</a> that students had three ‘packages’ available to them to aid them with cheating - students who were equipped with their own cheating material and wrote the papers themselves paid ₹5,000. Those who chose to be dictated the correct answers were charged ₹10,000 and the highest amount of ₹15,000 was charged for students who just marked their attendance and had touts/agents write the exams for them. This crackdown has, however, led to a mass dropout of students planning to take the exams - says the report. Over one million students dropped out of the board exams (Class X and XII exams) in 2018. All in all, around 6.7 million students were slated to appear for the exams - 3.7 million for the class X exams and 3 million for class XII. This year, 50 out of a total of 75 districts were declared ‘sensitive’ by UPSEB. In Ghazipur district, not one student in 17 schools passed. Of these, all students in 11 schools failed to clear the class X exam and in six schools, all students of class XII failed to pass. This was closely followed by the Allahabad district where none of the students in six schools passed. There are even instances of schools in bigger cities like the state capital Lucknow and Agra that had not one student clear the exams.

All the students from 150 schools in India’s most populous state failed their high school exams

The <keyword id="6354977" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> on Monday told the Centre to give reasons if the government is departing from the decision taken last year, amid the Covid pandemic, in connection with the <keyword id="4571860" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="class-XII-board-exams">class XII board exams</keyword>. The top court suggested that the policy adopted last year can also be adopted this year. Attorney General (AG) <keyword id="349004" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="K-K-Venugopal">K.K. Venugopal</keyword>, representing the Centre, urged the top court to give him time till Wednesday to come back with a decision on cancelling of class <keyword id="155806" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="XII">XII</keyword> <keyword id="32862" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="board-exams">board exams</keyword> due to the pandemic. A bench comprising Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and <keyword id="1553728" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dinesh-Maheshwari">Dinesh Maheshwari</keyword> told the AG, "you take a decision, but if you are departing from the decision taken last year in connection with the exams, then you must give us good reasons." The government will take a final decision within the next two days on whether to conduct class 12 board exams amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Supreme Court was informed on Monday. Attorney General K K <keyword id="15333" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Venugopal">Venugopal</keyword> told this to a bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari which was hearing a plea seeking directions to cancel the class 12 exams of the <keyword id="6356155" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword> and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) in view of the current situation. "No issue. You take the decision. You are entitled to it. If you are departing from the policy of last year, then you must give tangible reasons for it," the bench told Venugopal. The bench emphasized that the policy which was adopted previous year can be adopted this year too and reiterated that if Centre is departing from the notification issued earlier then it should have good tangible reason. The AG replied that a meeting has been called to take a decision on the issue. The bench responded, "Take whatever decision that's appropriate but what has been expressed by the petitioner is that last year's policy should be followed." The bench further queried the AG, a notification was issued last year, why can it not be continued this year? After a brief hearing in the matter, the top court adjourned the case to Thursday. The petition filed by advocate Mamta Sharma urged the top court to issue directions to the boards to cancel the Class XII examinations, instead devise an objective methodology to declare the result within a specific time-frame. "The Covid-19 situation is more severe in comparison to last year and require the respondents to adopt the same criteria of assessing the grading/marks of class XII students as done in the last year", said the plea. The plea contended that notifications issued by CBSE and ICSE deferring the exams to an unspecified date should be quashed, adding that students cannot be subjected to suffer uncertainty amid unprecedented public health crisis. The plea contended that it is a fit case wherein the top court may exercise its power under Article 142 of the Constitution to direct the respondents to implement the same methodology, which is being adopted for class X to declare the result and cancel the examination for Class XII. Last year, amid the pandemic the top court had asked boards to determine and declare Class 12 exam results on the basis of earlier assessment of students. Government to take decision on Class 12 board exams in two days — Supreme Court suggests using same policy as last year

<keyword id="1373364" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="UPSEB">UPSEB</keyword> board has declared the result for class X and class XII for the year 2019. 58.06 lakh students had registered for the 10th and 12th class board exams this year with around 31.95 lakh students from High school and 26 lakh students from the Intermediate level registering themselves for the board exams. There were more than 3 crore answer sheets to be checked for the exam that was conducted across 8354 exam centers. The exams started on February 7 for both 10th and 12th class simultaneously. The UP board class X an XII exams got completed on 28th February and March 2 respectively. Class 12th students of the board have recorded a pass percentage of 70%. Gautam Raghuvanshi has topped the Uttar Pradesh Board High School exam with 97.17% marks. Shivam has secured the second rank with 97% marks and Tanuja Vishwakarma has secured the third rank with 96.83% marks. UP Board Result 2019: Class 10th and 12th results declared, Gautam Raghuvanshi from Kanpur bagged the first rank

Panaji, <keyword id="168730" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Higher-Secondary">Higher secondary</keyword> and college examinations will be held offline this academic year in <keyword id="826" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goa">Goa</keyword>, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday. Speaking at a function organised to felicitate meritorious students at the Harmal Panchkroshi educational institute in North Goa district, Sawant said that there was anxiety among students about when and how the exams would be conducted. "A lot of students are wondering when higher secondary schools or colleges will resume classes. We are stressing on offline exams this year. Class XI, XII as well as <keyword id="2802459" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="college-exams">college exams</keyword> will be held offline," Sawant said. Currently, schools in Goa are only allowed to hold offline classes for Class X and Class XII students, while other students are taught online by educational institutions. Higher secondary and college exams to be held offline this year, says Goa CM

<ul><li>The draft National Education Policy(NEP) 2019 proposed a common entrance examination for admission to all colleges in various subjects. </li><li>As per the proposed scheme, the examination will test students for their logic, reasoning, language skills and focus subjects. </li><li>The policy also proposed reforms in the existing pattern for board examinations for Class X and XII.</li></ul>Students applying to colleges can breathe easy with one common entrance examination for admission instead of different exams for each university. This is if a proposal by the <keyword id="7127412" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Draft-National-Education-Policy">draft National Education Policy</keyword> (NEP) 2019, goes through. According to the draft rolled out by the government, the entrance examinations for the Class XII students must be conducted several times during the year, to allow students to choose when they want to sit for it, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/a-common-entrance-exam-for-all-colleges/articleshow/69817819.cms">TOI reported</a>. Colleges and universities can select students based on the scores in the common entrance examination. Easy, with a dash of logic The proposal is also going beyond rote learning. It says that the will test students for logic and reasoning, language skills and focus subjects. The exams should be ‘easier’ and test their capabilities and knowledge and not necessarily their ability to memorize, the proposal added. The proposal which is currently seeking public feedback, also believes that Class X and Class XII exams need reformation. “Board exams are systematically preventing optimal learning, exam should also be a learning experience. The current board exam system is not in line with these goals,” the New Education Policy Committee told the Times of India. The committee said that the board examinations should aim at holistic growth of students that is flexible enough to let students choose the subjects of their choice and interest. To address the loopholes in the education process, the upcoming Budget will also emphasize on<a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/economy/policy/budget-2019-national-education-policy-2019-what-the-new-budget-could-reflect-4097741.html"> training teachers</a> and boosting international research projects. India may have one common exam for all college admissions-- if the draft National Education Policy is passed

The class XII results declared by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) today brought cheers for girls as they outshone boys. 
 
While the overall passing percentage this time was 82, the pass percentage of girls stood at 87.56 as compared to 77.77% of the boys. 
 
However, the overall pass percentage was marginally lower than last year where 82.70 per cent students had passed the exam. 
 
Total 10,40,368 students had registered for class XII examination this year, an increase of about 1.2% students against last year. 
 
Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram registered the highest pass percentage at 95.41. 
 
M Gayatri of New Green Fields School topped the CBSE board in the country securing 99.2% as she scored 496 marks out of 500. 
 
The second rank is shared by three students- Mythili Mishra (Noida), B Arun (Trivandram) and Saurabh Bhambri (Delhi), scoring 495 marks. Students who got third rank scored 494 out of 500 marks. 
 
Also, 13,284 students in foreign countries had also appeared in the class XII exams and their pass percentage is 92.31.

CBSE class XII results are out! Girls perform better than boys

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class X results on Monday. The overall <keyword id="20123359" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pass-percentage" source="keywords">pass percentage</keyword> of 93.60 per cent was recorded. Passing percentage has increased by 0.48 per cent since last year. 25724 schools gave the CBSE class X examinations at 7603 centres. The Trivandrum region registered the highest pass percentage at 99.75 per cent whereas the lowest has been recorded at Guwahati which stood at 77.94 per cent. In the overall Delhi region, a 98.61 per cent pass percentage was recorded. 94.75 per cent of Girls passed the exam whereas 92.71 per cent of boys passed the exam with the Girls outshining boys by 2.04 per cent. Students who sat for the CBSE Class 10 board exams nationwide can view their mark sheets on the <keyword id="21637011" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CBSE-official-website" source="keywords">CBSE official website</keyword>, cbse.gov.in. The other official websites where CBSE 10th results can be checked are - cbseresults.nic.in, results.cbse.nic.in, cbse.nic.in, digilocker.gov.in, results.gov.in. The results can also be checked on mobile apps- Digilocker and UMANG. In regards to the Class 10 exams, CBSE stated that Science, Mathematics, and Social Science were chosen by 22,62,692 students each. These exams took place over three days at 7612 examination centres, utilising 94,279 rooms, with the assistance of 1,88,558 Assistant Superintendents. CBSE class X examinations were held from February 15 to March 13, 2024. Approximately 39 lakh students appeared for Class 10 and 12 examinations. Students must score a minimum of 33 per cent marks to pass the CBSE class 10 and 12 exams. Looking at the past year's trends, in 2023, the CBSE results were announced on May 12. While in the year 2022, it was declared on July 22. Earlier, CBSE declared Class XII. 87.98 per cent of students passed the board exams. Passing percentage increased by 0.65 per cent since last year. 18417 schools gave the CBSE class XII examinations at 7126 centres. This year the overall pass percentage is 87.98 a 0.65 percent increase since 2023. The Trivandrum region registered the highest pass percentage at 99.91 per cent. CBSE Class 10 board exam results declared

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> has announced that the government has cancelled the <keyword id="6356155" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword> <keyword id="6361875" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="class-12">class 12</keyword> board <keyword id="6359161" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="exams">exams</keyword>. <keyword id="6354642" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Modi">Modi</keyword>, in a statement, said that the decision on class 12 exams have been taken “in the interest of students.” The Prime Minister said, “COVID-19 has affected the academic calendar and the issue of board exams has been causing immense anxiety among students, parents, and teachers, which must be put to an end.” He also stressed that the health and safety of the children is utmost important and there would be no compromise on that. Modi also said that India’s <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword> situation is still “dynamic.” "Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams. After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth," the prime minister tweeted after the meeting. While the alternative assessment criteria for the exams has not been finalised by the board yet, officials said, it is expected to be on similar lines as announced for Class 10 which took into account the performance of a student in various tests and exams through the year. It was also decided in the meeting that in case some students desire to take the exams, such an option would be provided to them by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), as and when the situation becomes conducive. This is the first time that the CBSE has completely cancelled the board exam conducted by it. Last year, exams were midway when a nationwide lockdown was announced in view of the COVID-19 outbreak and the remaining exams were cancelled later. With the decision to cancel the exams coming amid high COVID-19 cases in several states and continuing health-related apprehensions about the future, Modi said the health and safety of students are of utmost importance, and there would be no compromise on this aspect. Anxiety among students, parents and teachers must be put to an end, and students should not be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation, a government statement quoted the prime minister as saying. Modi further asserted that all stakeholders need to show sensitivity for students as well as their parents and teachers. In the review meeting, officials gave a detailed presentation on the wide and extensive consultation held so far and views received from all stakeholders, including by state governments. "In view of the uncertain conditions due to COVID-19 and the feedback obtained from various stakeholders, it was decided that Class XII board exams would not be held this year," the statement said. Modi said at the meeting that COVID-19 has affected the academic calendar and the issue of board examinations has been causing immense anxiety among students, parents and teachers, which must be put to an end. He said the COVID-19 situation is dynamic across the country, and that the number of cases is coming down with some states managing the situation through effective micro-containment, while some states have still opted for a lockdown. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' tweeted, "I wish all the students very best in their careers. I would like to reiterate safety and career of students is of paramount importance for Modi government". Nishank, was earlier in the day hospitalised at AIIMS due to post-Covid complications. Students, parents and teachers are naturally worried about the health of students in such a situation, he noted, asserting that students should not be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation. Amid continuing demands for cancellation of exams by a large section of students and parents, the ministry had called a high-level meeting last Sunday to deliberate on the issue which was also attended by state education ministers and education secretaries. The CBSE had proposed two options -- conducting regular exams for only major subjects at notified centres or holding shorter-duration exams at the school where a student is enrolled. The proposed time-line for conducting the exams was between July 15 to August 26 and declaring the results in September. States were asked to submit detailed suggestions by May 25. Majority states opted for the second option which included conducting 90 minutes exams for major subjects at students' home schools. Few states also insisted on vaccinating students before going ahead with the exams. A group of students had also approached the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the exams. In a hearing on Monday, the government had told the apex court that The CBSE had on April 14 announced cancellation of Class 10 exams and postponement of Class 12 exams in view of the surge in coronavirus cases. According to the evaluation criteria announced for class 10 students , while 20 marks for each subject will be for internal assessment as every year, 80 marks will be calculated on basis of the students' performance in various tests or exams throughout the year. CBSE class 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces that government has decided to cancel the exams

Maharashtra School Education Minister <keyword id="249693" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Varsha-Gaikwad">Varsha Gaikwad</keyword> on Friday said the examinations of Class X and XII conducted by the state board will not be held before May 2021 due to the prevailing coronavirus situation.
