It comes off as no surprise why Indian e-commerce companies are increasingly drooling over their apps. These apps are stickier, and help build a loyal user base. Snapdeal has announced a whopping 70% of their transactions are from <keyword id="6354485" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="mobile">mobile</keyword> devices. 
 
In such a scenario, one would expect the share of price comparison websites to thin as people increasingly ‘go mobile’. On the contrary, MySmartPrice recently raised $10 million in Series B by Accel Partners and Helion Venture Partners. The company aims to expand its service to over 50 Indian cities with this funding. It currently boasts of a 10 million user base. 
 “We believe the market will not consolidate into a ground for two or three big players, and since users would prefer to have 2-3 <keyword id="235499" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="APP">app</keyword>s, this gives us a tremendous opportunity”, Sulakshan Kumar, Co-founder &amp; CEO, MySmartPrice says. When asked if mobile apps are the future of the business he says, “The conversion rate is better on the app but there is a scope for all the platforms.” 
 
The common perception about online shopping remains that it’s popular because of the outrageous discounts it offers. But do they? Kumar begs to differ 
 
“It is a false perception that online prices are always cheaper. While that may be the case for popular products, on an average, at least 65% prices are head-to-head across online and offline platforms. In the next 2-3 years the online and offline difference will further narrow”, Kumar says. 
 
While the market matures and online shoppers get stuck to their favorite apps, won’t the user base for price comparison websites be affected as people may not be motivated to compare prices? 
 
 “We have expanded our role to be a discovery platform more than a price comparison website. We would facilitate users to search, decide and buy any product from any store, whether online or offline”, Kumar maintains.

But they ignore the fact that, in May 2020, the <keyword id="34412" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="economy">economy</keyword> was mired in lockdowns, daily COVID-19 case counts were higher, and, critically, prices were significantly lower than their pre-pandemic levels.The pandemic's hit to the US economy led prices to broadly decline in March and April of last year as businesses closed and spending froze. The Fed has maintained its view that stronger inflation will soon fade, but Republicans and even moderate Democrats have raised fears that the economy is overheating.Still, to peg the rising prices to Biden's stimulus package alone is irresponsible and ignores other factors that are just as relevant. Rep. Banks also notes that another $5 trillion in spending would spark even more stifling inflation, but he fails to add that Biden's follow-up spending proposals are meant to be spent over eight to 10 years. That compares to the rapid rollout of Democrats' March stimulus bill.Until more economic data comes in and the US settles into a new normal, it's unclear whether elevated inflation will intensify or prove to be merely transitory. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Fox News and Republican politicians are comparing <keyword id="6359726" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="colorado">Colorado</keyword>'s <keyword id="43546" type="EVENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Voting">voting</keyword> laws to <keyword id="6385073" type="LOCATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="georgia">Georgia</keyword>'s.</li><li>But that comparison is "laughable," said Paul Teske of the University of Colorado, Denver.</li><li>Colorado has fully embraced voting by mail, automatically sending ballots to all registered voters.</li></ul>When Major League Baseball announced it was <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/georgia-lose-100-million-after-mlb-decision-tourism-official-2021-4">moving its All-Star Game</a> from Georgia to protest new restrictions on voting, local Republicans and conservative media outlets bemoaned the rise of "woke capital" and created a false equivalence. Colorado, they said - the game's new home - was really no better when it comes to voting rights."I think it's a little bit laughable," Paul Teske, dean of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver, told Insider of the comparison. "Colorado is such an easy place to vote."Georgia is not so easy, and it will now become more difficult.Among other things, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/georgia-new-election-law-means-for-voters-and-officials-explainer-2021-3">Georgia's new elections law</a>, passed by the state's Republican-led legislature following a campaign by party leaders to paint the 2020 election as fraudulent, curtails the use of <keyword id="9295414" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="mail-in-ballots">mail-in ballots</keyword>. Brain Kemp, is no different than Colorado. In an appearance on Fox News this week, Kemp said he was confused by MLB's decision to move its All-Star contest to Colorado where, "I'm being told, they also have a photo ID requirement."He was told wrong. What counts as an "ID" in the Rocky Mountains is not the same as in Georgia. According to Colorado's Secretary of State, <a href="https://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/elections/vote/acceptableFormsOfID.html">acceptable forms of identification</a> include not just those issued by the state or federal government, but those printed by colleges and universities. Don't have one of those, either? Not a problem: the state also accepts utility bills, bank statements, and paycheck stubs.In 2020, a super-majority of voters in Colorado cast their ballots by mail - all registered voters receive them automatically, as they have for years prior to the pandemic, with bipartisan support."The truth is Colorado's election model works," Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a Democrat, said in a statement on Tuesday. The off-price retailers, which are both owned by TJX Companies, buy <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-tj-maxx-keeps-its-prices-so-low-2023-3">surplus inventory</a> from department stores and specialty retailers at discounted rates. This is how they sell brand-name merchandise and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-tj-maxx-and-marshalls-dont-say-name-of-designers-on-websites-2020-7">keep their prices low</a>. While many retailers have struggled during the economic downturn, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tj-maxx-homegoods-benefitting-from-retail-store-closures-2023-2">TJX has benefitted from other brands' store closures</a>. Every product in TJ Maxx, whether it's a t-shirt or candle, has a recognizable tag attached. Apart from being notoriously difficult to peel off, these tags show shoppers the deal they are getting.The large price is what you pay. A small price above gives a "compare at" price, or what the customer would have paid for the product at full price. But how TJ Maxx comes to that price isn't always straightforward. Sometimes an identical product isn't available for comparison, so the company estimates the price based on similar styles. "Prices vary among other sellers and change over time," TJX states on its website. "But our buying staff's goal is always to provide you with a useful comparison based on prices at which we believe substantial sales of the same or a similar item have been made at full-price department or specialty retailers in the area or online." "Which makes people feel good about themselves and that they are smart shoppers."But the ambiguous approach to comparison pricing has drawn criticism and legal action. In 2015 and 2018, two class-action lawsuits accused TJX of misleading customers with its comparison prices. The first lawsuit, filed in California, argued that the company used the comparison prices to "trick its customers into mistakenly believing they are saving specific and substantial amounts on name brand items," <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Business/tj-maxx-sued-compare-prices/story?id=32636566" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC news</a> reported. To Stewart, it's hard to overstate how bad the rollout's been. Hard, but not impossible. Stewart reserved his harshest criticism on "The <keyword id="818861" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="daily-show">Daily Show</keyword>" Monday night for the media, which has engaged in a comparison frenzy of <keyword id="6579869" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="ObamaCare">Obamacare</keyword> being the political equivalent to Obama what Hurricane Katrina was to President George W. Bush. 
"Look, I'm not trying to polish the [dot]turd that is HealthCare.gov," Stewart said of the dysfunctional website. "But comparing the government abdication of responsibility after Katrina, the death of hundreds of people, the displacement of thousands of people to a f- website is offensive."
Stewart then cut to clips of some in the media, and some from the Bush administration, who thought it was offensive - to Bush. 
"Are you out of your f- mind?" he said.
