Mumbai, Apr 24 () Bank credit and deposits grew by 7.20 per cent and 9.45 per cent to Rs 103.39 lakh crore and Rs 137.14 lakh crore, respectively in the first fortnight, which ended on April 10, of the current fiscal, according to the latest data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).In the year-ago fortnight, bank advances had stood at Rs 96.44 lakh crore and deposits at Rs 125.30 lakh crore. In the fiscal ended March 31, 2020, bank loans had decelerated to 6.14 per cent, a near five-decade low, due to slower economic growth, lower demand and as banks remained risk averse. Loan growth in FY20 was the slowest since the fiscal ended March 31, 1962, when it had increased by 5.38 per cent. During FY20, bank deposits grew by 7.93 per cent to Rs 135.71 lakh crore as against Rs 125.73 lakh crore, the RBI data showed.When compared with the previous fortnight which ended on March 27, 2020, bank credit de grew by 0.3 per cent in the fortnight ended on April 10, 2020.Similarly, the growth in deposits was just 1.1 per cent in the reporting fortnight when compared with the fortnight which ended on March 27, 2020, data showed. Kolkata, Outlook for bank <keyword id="6354680" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="credit" source="Orion">credit</keyword> offtake remains positive in 2024 while deposit growth is expected to improve, according to the latest research report of <keyword id="19974164" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="careedge-ratings" source="keywords">CareEdge Ratings</keyword>. The report said that credit offtake continued to grow, increasing 20.3 per cent year-on-year to reach Rs 159.7 lakh crore for the fortnight ending January 12, 2024. The rise was due to the impact of the merger of <keyword id="19896378" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hdfc" source="keywords">HDFC</keyword> with <keyword id="19895995" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hdfc-bank" source="keywords">HDFC Bank</keyword> along with growth in personal loans. If the impact of the merger is excluded, credit grew at a lower rate of 16.1 per cent year-on-year for the fortnight compared to last year's growth of 16.5 per cent, the report said. Deposits also grew 13.1 per cent year-on-year the fortnight (including the merged impact). The report said that deposit growth is expected to improve in 2024. The outlook for credit offtake continues to remain positive in 2024 supported by factors like economic expansion and continued push for retail credit supported by increasing digitalisation, according to the report. Unsecured personal loans and <keyword id="19938496" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nbfc" source="keywords">NBFC</keyword> advances might witness a certain level of cooling off, the report said, adding that currently, capital levels are quite comfortable for banks and NBFCs. Higher interest rates, inflation and global uncertainties regarding geo-political issues are other key factors which could weigh on credit growth, the report said. The credit-deposit (CD) ratio has been generally hovering below 80 per cent since September 2023, the report said. The CD ratio saw an uptick of 44 basis points and stood at 79.9 per cent in the fortnight ending January 12, 2024, reaching a three-year high. Deposits have seen relatively steady performance since the COVID times, the report said. However, in recent years, credit growth has been significantly outperforming deposit growth, it said.

Outlook for bank credit offtake remains positive in 2024: CareEdge Ratings

Mumbai, Jun 5 () Bank credit and deposits grew 6.25 per cent and 10.64 per cent year-on-year to Rs 102.23 lakh crore and Rs 138.30 lakh crore, respectively, in the fortnight ended May 22, according to the latest data from the Reserve Bank of India. In the fortnight ended May 24, 2019, bank loans had stood at Rs 96.21 lakh crore and deposits at Rs 124.99 lakh crore, the RBI data showed. On a fortnightly basis, bank advances de-grew by 0.3 per cent or Rs 28,683.47 crore to Rs 102.23 lakh crore in the reporting period from Rs 102.51 lakh crore as on fortnight ended May 24, 2020. Deposits' growth remained stable on a fortnight basis. In April, the outstanding incremental non-food credit growth contracted by 1.2 per cent to Rs 91 lakh crore from Rs 92.12 lakh crore in March, the RBI data had showed. On a year-on-year basis, non-food credit growth decelerated to 7.3 per cent in April 2020 from 11.9 per cent in the same month last year, the data showed. Loan growth to agriculture and allied activities decelerated to 3.9 per cent in April 2020, against 7.9 per cent in April 2019. Growth in advances to the services sector decelerated to 11.2 per cent, from 16.8 per cent in April 2019. ISRO To Face A Tough Time In Communicating With MOM For A Fortnight In June

The <keyword id="21570567" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="credit-offtake" source="keywords">credit offtake</keyword> continued to grow at the rate of 13.9% year-on-year to reach Rs. 168.1 lakh crore for the fortnight ending July 12, 2024. However, the pace of growth was slow, a Care Edge report said. Credit offtake is a type of <keyword id="19946069" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bank-credit" source="keywords">bank credit</keyword> that assists businesses in getting financing for future projects. The credit offtake increased by 14.0% year-on-year, but declined by 0.4% sequentially for the fortnight ended July 12, 2024. Over the last twelve months, credit offtake expanded by Rs. 20.4 lakh crore. The report attributed the sluggishness to the higher base effect and banks' focus on restraining the credit-to-deposit (CD) ratio. <keyword id="20218853" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="deposits" source="keywords">Deposits</keyword> grew by 11.3 % year-on-year for the fortnight, including the impact of the HDFC merger, reaching Rs. 211.8 lakh crore, driven by growth in time deposits. "The <keyword id="20575555" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="credit-to-deposit" source="keywords">Credit to Deposit</keyword> ratio stood at 79.4 % for the fortnight (July 12, 2024). Meanwhile, if we study the credit and deposit inflows over the past 3 months and 6 months, we can observe that credit offtake has lagged the deposit growth numbers. Hence, the <keyword id="20048508" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CD-ratio" source="keywords">CD ratio</keyword> derived from these flows from January would be around 70% and from March would be approximately 54%," the report added. The report added that going forward, bank credit offtake could face challenges, and is likely to be tepid for the entire year. Inflows over the past three and six months show credit offtake at 5.3% for six months and 2.3% for three months, lagging behind deposit growths of 6.0% and 3.4% respectively. Deposits rose by 11.3% year-on-year for the fortnight, but declined by 0.5 % sequentially. In absolute terms, deposits expanded by Rs. 23.9 lakh crore over the last twelve months. The report anticipated that the deposit is expected to be strong in FY25, as banks focus on strengthening their liability franchise, sourcing funds through certificates of deposit, despite higher costs. As per the data in the report, the absolute growth in credit offtake was Rs. 8.4 lakh crore for six months, and Rs. 3.8 lakh crore for three months, lagging behind deposit growth of Rs. 11.9 lakh crore and Rs. 7.0 lakh crore for the same periods. The CD ratio has floated around 80 % since September 2023, standing at 79.4 % for the fortnight ending July 12, 2024, as per the report.

In order to avoid customers from getting annoyed, it is critical for marketers to study the essential components of promotional emails. Results suggest that young customers in the age group of 18 to 24 years notice the subject line before opening a promotional email, whereas, customers in the age group of 46 to 54 years observe the content preview. Mumbai, Feb 3 () Banks credit and deposits grew 7.21 per cent and 9.51 per cent to Rs 100.05 lakh crore and Rs 131.26 lakh crore, respectively, in the fortnight ended January 17, according to the latest Reserve Bank data.
 In the year-ago fortnight, banks advance stood at Rs 93.32 lakh crore while deposits at Rs 119.85 lakh crore.
 In the previous fortnight ended January 2, credit had grown by 7.57 per cent to Rs 100.44 lakh crore and deposits by 9.77 per cent to Rs 132.10 lakh crore.
 Non-food bank credit growth decelerated to 7 per cent in December 2019 from 12.8 per cent in December 2018.
 Loans to the services sector decelerated sharply to 6.2 per cent in December 2019 from 23.2 per cent last year same period.
 Advances to agriculture and allied activities decelerated to 5.3 per cent from 8.4 per cent in December 2018.
 Personal loans growth decelerated marginally to 15.9 per cent from 17 per cent in December 2018.

Petrol prices have been cut by Rs 1.77 per litre and diesel by 88 paise a litre ever since the daily revision in rates was implemented just over a week back, according to PTI news report. State-owned oil companies this month dumped the 15-year old practice of revising rates on 1st and 16th of every month and instead adopted a dynamic daily price revision to instantaneously reflect changes in cost. Prices of petrol and diesel have been revised at 0600 hrs everyday since June 16 and the biggest beneficiary has been the consumer. Petrol price was at Rs 65.48 a litre on June 16 in Delhi and today it costs Rs 63.71 per litre, according to information available from oil companies. Similarly, a litre of diesel was priced at Rs 54.49 on June 16 but has since dropped to Rs 53.61, thanks to the softening international oil prices. "Previously, the benefit of any decline in international oil prices would have been passed on to consumers only after a fortnight, but now it is instantaneously reflected in the billing," explained a senior oil company executive. The previous practice of revision in rate on 1st and 16th of every month, which began with de-regulation of auto fuel on April 1, 2002, was based on average international oil price and foreign exchange rate in the preceding fortnight. "Many a times, international rates would fall for one week and then rise in the following. So, the net effect of this in the previous price revision policy was status quo or a marginal change in rate. But now, any decline is passed on immediately and the consumer gets the benefit," he said. On the other hand, when oil prices rise, this would also hold true. According to oil company data, petrol price has been cut almost every day with reduction ranging from 11 paise to 32 paise per litre. Diesel prices have been cut between 2 paise and 18 paise a litre. Rates have declined on every single day since the daily price revision was introduced. Petrol and diesel prices were de-regulated, or freed from government control from April 1, 2002 and the fortnightly revision in rates kicked in. The deregulation derailed a bit when international oil prices started to climb after 2004. Fortnightly revision continued but the revision was not completely in snyc with the required price increase. Petrol price was finally freed in June 2010 and diesel in October 2014. The daily price revision was implemented after a successful pilot in five cities. Daily price change will remove the big leaps in rates that need to be effected at the end of the fortnight and the consumer will be more aligned to market dynamics. The three state-owned fuel retailers had implemented daily revision of retail selling price (RSP) of petrol and diesel on a pilot basis in <keyword id="42774" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Udaipur">Udaipur</keyword> in Rajasthan, Jamshedpur in <keyword id="6360371" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jharkhand">Jharkhand</keyword>, Puducherry, Chandigarh, and Vizag in <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> from May 1.
