Noida, June 4 (IANS) IT major <keyword id="28126" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HCL">HCL</keyword> Technologies on Thursday said it will bring its software offerings, starting with <keyword id="9346292" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="HCL-Commerce">HCL Commerce</keyword>, to <keyword id="691847" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google-Cloud">Google Cloud</keyword>. The announcement marks the expansion of partnerships between the two companies. HCL Commerce is a leading, Coud-native platform used by businesses across multiple industries and around the world to drive more than $100 billion in annual client revenues. "The collaboration between Google Cloud and HCL Commerce is helping customers rapidly execute their digital transformation strategy that is rooted in the new normal," Darren Oberst, Corporate Vice President and Head of HCL Software, said in a statement. "With the support of our global implementation partner ecosystem, we can now deliver a proven, comprehensive commerce solution across all industries, handling the challenges of today and in the future," he added. Specifically, they'll help customers move to the platform, upgrade or build new applications, and generally make the process of using Google Cloud as painless for them as possible.The move would help shore up Google's position in IT services, an area where it is known to be weak, but which is critical in wooing big enterprises looking to move to cloud to embrace its platform. Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, and other major IT vendors all have professional services arms that help their customers get the most from their products."At Google, we've been very clear that we're not a services company," Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told Business Insider. While Amazon and Microsoft both employ their own IT services organizations in-house, Kurian says Google would rather never find itself in a conflict of interest with its own partners as they chase deals."We never wanted to be a services company because frankly being a services company leads to conflict with the very partners like HCL that you want to use your platform," Kurian said. "That makes it much easier to partner, unlike other cloud providers who have their own services arm."<h2>A shot at Microsoft</h2>The alliance appeared to be aimed squarely at Microsoft. In announcing the alliance, Google and HCL said one of their key goals is to help SAP customers migrate their infrastructure to Google Cloud. SAP recently formed <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-azure-sap-applications-cloud-partnership-2019-10">an alliance with Microsoft</a> that would make it easier for its customers to move their networks to Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform.Kurian said they specifically mentioned SAP customers because "it's a deep expertise that HCL has, and it's an area where we're seeing significant demand."Analyst Ian Campbell, CEO of Nucleus Research, a technology research firm, said the HCL alliance is a smart move for Google. "Strong move for Google in adding a premium services component to its cloud offering," he told Business Insider. "With Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure in the market, Google can now include business capable services to help enterprises transition to the cloud."<h2>An advantage in the cloud wars</h2>The cloud market is dominated by Amazon, Microsoft and Google. Cloud computing has made it possible for businesses, including big enterprises, to set up and maintain their networks on web-based platforms. This allowed them to scale down or even abandon private data centers.Professional service providers like HCL are a key part of the cloud wars between the major cloud providers. They employ an army of experts who provide the manpower and expertise to help even the largest companies move to the cloud, making it that much more feasible.The cloud giants have formed alliances in order to meet this need. Amazon Web Services has its own professional services division, but also has a partner network that includes major IT services companies such as Accenture and Deloitte. Microsoft long ago established its own professional services arm, and has relationships with the major providers, as well. While Google Cloud lags Amazon and Microsoft, it has under Kurian and previous CEO Diane Greene signaled a willingness to go after larger customers - and, to that end, started to form its own alliances. Last year, <a href="https://newsroom.accenture.com/news/accenture-and-google-cloud-expand-strategic-collaboration-announce-new-enterprise-solutions-in-customer-experience-transformation.htm">Google and Deloitte teamed up</a> in a separate partnership that was also aimed at helping SAP customers move to Google Cloud. Google has been working with Accenture since around 2011, too, and<a href="https://newsroom.accenture.com/news/accenture-and-google-cloud-expand-strategic-collaboration-announce-new-enterprise-solutions-in-customer-experience-transformation.htm"> expanded that partnership</a> earlier this year.The HCL partnership is the surest sign of that direction, yet, though.Kurian said that the planned Google-focused HCL organization "will make them the largest number of trained specialists in our portfolio."<h2>HCL's big bet on Google</h2>HCL, which has more than 147,000 employees, is one of the major players in infrastructure managed services the world. Gartner names it among the leading data center outsourcing and hybrid management infrastructure services providers in North America, together with IBM and Accenture."We are creating a dedicated business unit" for Google Cloud, CVK Vijayakumar, CEO and president of HCL, told Business Insider. "This is an important investment and strategy for us."Vijayakumar said that as part of the alliance, HCL will set up "Google Cloud-specific" labs in Dallas, London and Delhi where they plan to enhance technologies Google Cloud customers use, such as Google G-Suite tools, and build new ones.Kurian said the alliance also allows Google and HCL to adapt to emerging trends, mainly the hybrid cloud and multi-cloud strategies. In hybrid cloud, businesses set up networks to the cloud while maintaining huge chunks of their data and applications in private data centers. In multi-cloud, businesses manage their networks on different platforms while also maintaining a private data center."They were looking for partners who would bring things like multi-cloud and hybrid, and we were looking for expertise in infrastructure management," Kurian said. Top stocks to watch— HCL, Infosys, Happiest Minds Tech, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and more

New Delhi, Jan 17 () IT major HCL Technologies on Friday posted a 13 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 2,944 crore for the December 2019 quarter and said it expects to clock up to 17 per cent growth in FY20 revenue on the back of pipeline being at a "historic peak".
 The company had registered a net profit of Rs 2,605 crore in the year-ago period as per Indian Accounting Standards. Its revenue from operations grew 15.5 per cent to Rs 18,135 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs 15,699 crore in the year-ago period.
 "We have once again delivered a great quarter...this quarter, we have crossed an annualised run rate of USD 10 billion. Our pipeline stands at an all-time high, we are expecting a higher conversion of this pipeline to booking in this quarter," HCL Technologies President and CEO C Vijayakumar told reporters here.
 The company's CFO Prateek Aggarwal said the company has narrowed its revenue growth outlook to 16.5-17 per cent for 2019-20 in constant currency terms, from its previous forecast of 15-17 per cent topline growth in constant currency terms.
 "We had earlier guided to a wider range of about 15-17 per cent but now that we have only one quarter to go and we have better visibility, we have narrowed down the range...it is coming from both sides - organic and inorganic," he added.
 Compared to HCL Technologies' performance, Wipro had posted 2.2 per cent growth in its IT services revenue (USD 2.09 billion). It expects its March quarter IT services revenue growth to be flat to 2 per cent.
 HCL Technologies' larger rival Infosys - which announced its results last week - had also revised its revenue guidance for the fiscal to 10-10.5 per cent topline growth helped by double digit growth year-to-date.
 India's largest IT services company Tata Consultancy Services announced its results on Friday. Posting a 6.7 per cent rise in topline in December 2019 quarter, the Mumbai-based company said it had closed deals worth USD 6 billion during the said quarter. However, TCS also made it clear that it will not be able to notch a double-digit revenue growth in FY20.
 For HCL Technologies, the strong performance of HCL Software was driving growth for the Products and Platform segment of the company.
 "Inorganic guidance was 5-6 per cent earlier and that is now at 6 per cent. For organic, which we had said would be 10-11 per cent, now we are revising to 10.5-11 per cent," Vijayakumar explained.
 In December 2018, HCL Technologies had inked an agreement to acquire select IBM software products for Rs 12,252 crore (about USD 1.8 billion), including earnouts of Rs 1,035 crore (USD 150 million). The company closed the deal on June 30, 2019.
Vijayakumar said during the December 2019 quarter, the company had entered into a preferred business partnership with Google.
 "We have established Google cloud business unit and we look forward to winning a lot more cloud opportunities with the addition of Google as an ecosystem partner for us," he added.
 Talking about the demand environment, Vijayakumar said the pipeline is at "historic peak".
"So I am very optimistic about overall demand environment. There could be some verticals where there could be some kind of softness but broadly across it's very good. The pipeline is fairly robust in the US, Europe in line with our revenue contributions. So overall (we are) very positive about the overall demand environment," he added.
HCL Technologies' board has declared a dividend of Rs 2 per share.
Vijayakumar said on a year-year basis, five of the seven verticals posted double-digit growth, while life sciences and healthcare delivered a high-single digit y-o-y growth.
He said growth was led by manufacturing at 38.1 per cent y-o-y, energy, utility and public services at 31.3 per cent, retail CPG at 16.9 per cent, financial services at 16.8 per cent, and telecom and media at 13.6 per cent.
 In terms of geographies, the US, Europe and Rest of World (RoW) experienced double digit growth on a y-o-y basis in constant currency. RoW lead the growth with 27.3 per cent y-o-y growth in constant currency.
 In dollar terms, the net profit grew 17.2 per cent to USD 426.5 million for the December 2019 quarter, while revenue surged by 15.5 per cent to USD 2.5 billion as compared to the year-ago period, as per the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
 The company added 11,502 employees (gross) during the quarter to take its total head count to 1,49,173 at the end of the December 2019 quarter. Attrition on last 12-month basis stood at 16.8 per cent.

Flexible workspace provider <keyword id="4052133" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="wework-india" source="Orion">WeWork India</keyword> on Thursday made its first investment in the country, in Bengaluru-based conferencing and collaboration platform <keyword id="15243245" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="zoapi" source="Orion">Zoapi</keyword> for an undisclosed sum. Cofounded by Prashanth NS and Chaitanya Vasantarao in 2019, Zoapi is a member of the Intel IoT Solution alliance. The enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution provider combines four basic needs of a meeting room -- wireless screen sharing, video conferencing, online calendar, and room scheduler. "From an adoption perspective, it is affordable and compatible with numerous video conferencing platforms and devices. With its unique capabilities, this homegrown product has the potential to grow into a global player, implemented across all industries," said <keyword id="2015202" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="karan-virwani" source="Orion">Karan Virwani</keyword>, CEO of WeWork India. Built as an open platform, Zoapi supports numerous video conferencing facilities and collaboration applications such as <keyword id="10296" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="zoom" source="Orion">Zoom</keyword>, MS Teams, Skype, Google Meet, Webex, Polycom etc. Its interactive calendar features include easy integrations and a seamless conferencing experience. "Over the years, our strategic partnership with WeWork India has generated insightful data about user consumption patterns and needs. We believe that we can globally power conferences and meeting rooms, with our SaaS solution," said Prashanth, Cofounder and CEO Zoapi. This is the first time Google Cloud has invited partners to attend," an Intel spokesperson told Business Insider. Other partners also told Business Insider that they will be in attendance.Google Cloud was not available for comment.The move comes as the cloud giants move to build alliances in the industry, amid escalating competition. Microsoft, considered the second-place player in the cloud market, has decades worth <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-partners-cloud-earnings-mdc-research-survey-2019-7">of partnerships</a> to draw on, while Amazon Web Services has used its dominant position to attract a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-web-services-channel-chief-doug-yeum-partner-network-2019-12">robust partner network</a> in a relatively short span.Bringing partners in on the Accelerate conference, then, is a way for Google Cloud to bring them deeper into the fold."It delivers on the promise of the journey with Google Cloud, to treat partners as an extension of themselves by inviting them to their sales kickoff, which has never been allowed before," Tony Safoian, president and CEO of SADA Systems, a Google Cloud partner, told Business Insider. The Accelerate conference roughly coincides with the one-year anniversary of Thomas Kurian's tenure as CEO of Google Cloud - a timeframe which saw the company make big moves like acquiring data analytics startup <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/looker-7-product-launch-ahead-of-google-cloud-acquisition-7-2019-11">Looker</a> for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/looker-7-product-launch-ahead-of-google-cloud-acquisition-7-2019-11">$2.6 billion</a>, in a deal that has yet to close.More germane, Kurian also brought in new execs like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-cloud-hires-sap-robert-enslin-lead-customer-operations-2019-4">Robert Enslin</a>, a veteran of SAP, who took over Google Cloud's sales efforts as president of the business. Indeed, Safoian credits Enslin for the decision to bring partners to what stands to be the first Accelerate event since he joined last April.<h2>The importance of partners</h2>Partners take a number of forms in the cloud computing business. Some, like SADA Systems, help their customers install and maintain Google Cloud services. Others, like Intel, <a href="https://newsroom.intel.com/news-releases/intel-google-cloud-announce-strategic-partnership-accelerate-hybrid-cloud/#gs.rmwtb4">partner with Google Cloud to co-engineer specialized products.</a>Having an active partner network is good for business, too. Microsoft, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-partners-cloud-earnings-mdc-research-survey-2019-7">generated $9.5 billion</a> in annual contracted partner revenue in the past two years, and claims that 95% of its commercial revenue flows through partners.Meanwhile, Doug Yeum, head of worldwide channel and alliances at AWS, recently <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-web-services-channel-chief-doug-yeum-partner-network-2019-12">told Business Insider</a> that its seven-year-old partner network has found success by helping partners help customers take advantage of cutting-edge new technologies. It then falls on Google, which lags behind Microsoft and AWS in the cloud wars, to build its own partner network, as it chases Kurian's vision of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-aparna-sinha-kubernetes-interview-2019-3">Google Cloud</a> becoming "at least the number 2 cloud" within <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-cloud-thomas-kurian-salespeople-compensation-oracle-sap-2019-8">a five-year window.</a> To help it get there, its bolstered its acquisitions of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-buys-cloudsimple-microsoft-vmware-2019-11">CloudSimple</a>, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-cloud-acquires-elastifile-storage-2019-7">Elastifile</a>, and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-cloud-acquires-looker-aws-microsoft-sap-oracle-2019-6">Looker</a> with partnerships with the likes of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-cloud-ceo-kurian-alliance-it-services-hcl-technologies-2019-10">HCL</a> and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/netapp-google-cloud-partnership-george-thomas-kurian-2019-11">NetApp</a>.On a final note, Kurian's predecessor in the role, Diane Greene, made her own overtures to partners: One of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-cloud-boss-diane-greene-sada-systems-2016-3">first things she did was to begin personally attending meetings between partners and their customers</a>, SADA Systems said at the time.Got a tip?
