On the other hand, more than half (57%) of the offers at MDI came from companies in the consulting sector. General management and sales and marketing roles added up to 30% of the total offers. These offers came from Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Reliance, Vedanta, TrueNorth, Hindustan Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Mondelez, and FIITJEE. Recruiters hiring for finance roles were Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Arga Investment Management, Gaja Capital and JP Morgan Chase. Kolkata, Apr 9 () At a time when most businessschools of the country are finding it difficult to safeguardstudents' placements and summer internships in the wake of theCOVID-19 outbreak, the Indian Institute of Management-Calcuttaclaimed to have weathered the blow with minimal rescinding ofjob offers.Out of the 442 students successfully placed in 2020with close to 10 per cent rise in pay packet over 2019, onlysix offers have been revoked by a recruiter amid thecoronavirus outbreak."Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the global headquarterof one recruiter has rescinded six job offers. Anotherrecruiter has taken the internal business decision to postponethe joining date from May to July," IIM-C Placement CommitteeChairperson, Abhishek Goel, told .One startup has communicated business difficulties,but "our latest information is that its job offers to ourstudents are firm", he claimed.Apart from these, almost all recruiters are movingahead as per their hiring plans, Goel said, adding, some havealready enabled virtual joining.Joining typically takes place between April and Augustdepending on a recruiters hiring plan."Given the quality of recruiters, the impact on IIM-Cstudents is negligible, but the situation for other managementschools of the country is not that comfortable," an officialof a recruitment agency said.IIM-C Director Anju Seth said the institution hastaken a host of measures in view of the coronavirus crisis,including changing the academic calendar for various programs. The institute is making all efforts forthe remaining three students to find an alternateopportunity," Goel said.Several recruiters made alternate arrangements tostart the internship as per their original commitment viadigital media, leveraging their IT capabilities. Minimal impact on students' job offers, summer internships amid COVID-19 crisis: IIM-C

IIM-C students see a dramatic jump in salaries after an MBA

<ul><li>Over 100 employees in TCS received over ₹ 10 million in annual remuneration in the last fiscal, ET reported. </li><li>In comparison, Infosys extended ₹10.2 million to nearly 60 employees in India, including variable stock component. </li><li>The two IT companies reportedly increased their hirings by 350% in FY19. </li></ul>Homegrown IT major Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) reportedly extended nearly ₹10 million in annual remuneration to over 100 employees in the previous fiscal. In comparison, TCS has 91 employees having annual salary above ₹10 million in FY17, and the count has increased to 103 in 2019. The annual remuneration includes salary, cash incentives, allowances and the company’s provident fund component. IIM Calcutta’s 'Covidian' batch of MBA students kick off classes digitally

The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IIM">Indian Institute of Management</a>, Calcutta (IIMC) has marked a milestone yet again with the placement for its one-year program for executives getting a boost of 24.8% in top salary offer, which was Rs 33.7 lakh a year ago. 
 
As per the statement issued by the prestigious institution, the average salary offer for the eighth batch has also amplified and has seen a rise of 21.6% as compared to Rs 22.69 lakh that was offered last year. 
 
The media reports have suggested that a total of 55 companies made 54 offers to 44 contenders, among which, three chose to join their pervious organisation and one decided to quit. The offers, as stated in the reports, were for mid-management to senior-management level of jobs . 
 
The companies that participated in the appointment process includes <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Accenture">Accenture</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Amazon">Amazon</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Dell">Dell</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Microsoft">Microsoft</a>, Google, Ford Motors (IT), <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal">Snapdeal</a>, Atos Consulting, <keyword id="6358918" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deloitte">Deloitte</keyword> Touche, Oracle, CESC, Omni Active and Micromax. 
 
Among the major participants, IT/consulting and IT products dominated the entire placement process with 12 and 10 offers each. The eCommerce firms, however, managed to made only 8 offers. 
 
Real estate, BPO, KPO, power and analytics firms are among the sectors that also hired aggressively.

IIM Calcutta students offered 25% increase in salaries this year

In the past few days many celebrities have raised their voice against the appointment of TV actor <keyword id="258297" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gajendra-Chauhan">Gajendra Chauhan</keyword> as the <keyword id="2898983" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="FTII-chairman">FTII chairman</keyword>. Now film-maker <keyword id="30014" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vivek-Agnihotri">Vivek Agnihotri</keyword>, whose political satire ‘Buddha In A Traffic Jam’ recently won the Best Original Screenplay in a foreign language award at the Madrid International Film Festival, has extended full support to FTII students. Pointing towards the qualification of Chauhan, he told Business Insider (BI) that “one can’t give a chance to a raw pilot to fly a Dreamliner and an intern to do a bypass surgery on a patient.” The controversy is very far from over; the students of the prestigious <keyword id="129188" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Film-and-Television-Institute-of-India">Film and Television Institute of India</keyword> (FTII) have been agitating for over 30 days and have declared that they would continue to protest against <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> member Chauhan’s appointment as the new head of the governing council. 

	Agnihotri, who directed movies such as ‘Hate Story’, and ‘Chocolate’, ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’, told BI: “Chauhan is not qualified for this job. I don’t care what movies he has done or their quality. What matters is that he has no track record, views, and above all vision for cinema.”
 

	Chauhan, who played the role of 'Yudhishthir' in popular television serial "Mahabharata", on his part remained unfazed and said he should be given a chance and allowed to work.
 The film-maker, whose wife actor <keyword id="6158" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pallavi-Joshi">Pallavi Joshi</keyword> has stepped down on July 6 from the <keyword id="2929545" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="FTII-Society">FTII Society</keyword> in an expression of solidarity with students, said: “Chauhan claims he has done over 70 serials. So what? Even a junior artist does over 1,000 films.” Chauhan is not suited for the job, he said. On being asked about the role of the <keyword id="384646" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Information-and-Broadcasting-Ministry">Information and Broadcasting Ministry</keyword> in the controversial appointment, Agnihotri said: “I think I&amp;B authorities underestimated the FTII. They thought it is just an institute with few hundred scholars somewhere in Pune. Who will bother? But it (the decision to appoint Chauhan) boomeranged on them.” 

	He further said the appointment has nothing to do with syllabus or any other administrative issues. “It is about prestige of the institute which, now, everyone unanimously believe will be hampered by Chauhan’s appointment.”
 

	Justifying the strike, he said FTII students are politically more active than engineering or MBA students. In Vivek Agnihotri’s view, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi, the government should not hesitate to change the chairman.
 

	One such change will set the precedence for other institutes and bring the government under pressure, he said, adding: “There will be chaos. It is a complex situation and I am sure sooner or later our pragmatic PM will intervene and find a solution.”
