New Delhi, Jan 30 () Jagran Prakashan Ltd, the publisher of Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, on Thursday reported a 15.97 per cent increase in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 81.61 crore for the third quarter ended on December 31, 2019.
The company had posted a PAT of Rs 70.37 crore during October-December quarter a year ago, Jagran Prakashan Ltd (JPL) said in a BSE filing.
However, its revenue from operations was down 10.53 per cent to Rs 563.29 crore during the quarter under review, as against Rs 629.65 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
JPL's total expenses stood at Rs 450.89 crore during the quarter under review as compared to Rs 523.38 crore, down 13.85 per cent.
Its revenue from print, digital and publishing was Rs 455.85 crore as against Rs 494.60 crore.
While, FM Radio business revenue was at Rs 69.64 crore as against Rs 87.02 crore.
Shares of Jagran Prakashan Ltd on Thursday settled at Rs 69.90 per unit on the BSE, up 0.36 per cent over previous close. KRH RUJ

 Dainik Jagran continues to remain the top most read newspaper across India, despite seeing a dip than the last two quarters, with a Total Readership (TR) of 70,430,000 in IRS Q3 2019 and Average Issue Readership of 17,496,000. The Times of India is the only English daily to make it in the Top 10 list. On other hand, amongst English dailies, The Times of India leads the Mumbai market with a TR of 2,776,000 and AIR of 1,292,000, whereas in Delhi, Hindustan Times surpassed the former with a TR of 2,114,000 and AIR of 1,076,000. India Today remains the top read magazine in the country and Malayala Manorama is the largest read regional daily.

According to a TechCrunch <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2022/07/28/google-bgmi-pubg-india-play-store/">report</a>, the app was delisted by Google from both platforms in India on Thursday evening. A Krafton spokesperson confirmed the delisting and said the company is seeking clarification. According to a Reuters<a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/india/google-blocks-kraftons-battle-royale-game-india-after-govt-order-2022-07-28/"> report</a>, the Indian government invoked a section 69A of its IT law to impose restrictions on BGMI. This section allows the Indian government to block public access to content that concerns national security. Swadeshi Jagran Manch, a political and cultural organisation and Prahar, a non-government organisation repeatedly asked the Indian government to investigate China's influence on BGMI. Also, the president of Prahar, Abhay Mishra said, Swadeshi Jagran Manch is the wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh - an influential Hindu nationalist group which is close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Reuters. To recall, BGMI is Player Unknown Battleground Mobile’s (<keyword id="4998506" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="PUBG" source="Orion">PUBG</keyword> Mobile) tweaker version for India after it was banned alongside 177 Chinese apps by the Indian Government, citing national security issues. BGMI delisted from Play Store and App Store after government order citing data sharing and mining in China: Report

New Delhi, Singer <keyword id="806680" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Chanchal">Narendra Chanchal</keyword>, who redefined popular devotional singing in India, is no more. According to reports, Narendra Chanchal died on Friday in the city. He was 80. Celebrities like <keyword id="31278" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lata-Mangeshkar">Lata Mangeshkar</keyword>, Daler Mehndi and <keyword id="6389563" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhur-Bhandarkar">Madhur Bhandarkar</keyword> have paid tributes to the late singer. Chanchal shot to fame with his '<keyword id="24503" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="jagran">Jagran</keyword>' hits in the seventies and the eighties, particularly songs dedicated to Sherawali Mata. His ode to Sherawali Mata "Chalo bulava aaya hai" continues to be popular till date. Chanchal is best known for his live performances. The singer also made a mark in Bollywood. He is known for rendering the title song of the 1974 Amitabh Bachchan film "Benaam", composed by RD Burman. In the same year, he also sang "Mehngai mar gayi" for the film "Roti Kapda Aur Makaan". Popular devotional singer Narendra Chanchal passes away at 80

New Delhi, Feb 1 () RSS-affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) on Saturday opposed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget announcement that the government will encourage FDI in education, saying it is a "bad idea" and will lead to "westernisation" of education.
Barring the promotion of FDI in education, SJM's co-convener Ashwani Mahajan appreciated the budget proposals.
He praised the government for reviewing free-trade agreements, saying they were not in interest of the country. He said the 16-point action plan proposed in the Budget to create income and employment in rural areas, particularly in fisheries, horticulture and other non-farm activities, is a "welcome move."
"FDI in education is wrong. It is a bad idea and we oppose this proposal," Mahajan told .
"We should not allow foreigners to enter our education sector. This will lead to westernisation of education and will not be in national interest."
Presenting the Budget, Sitharaman said the government will encourage external commercial borrowings and FDI in education to finance infrastructure and to be able to deliver high-quality education.
Mahajan said this was considered to be the "most difficult budget" of this decade but was presented in a confident manner.
A broad vision was seen in the form of provisions for corporate world, foreign investors, infrastructure, personal tax reforms etc. and also the efforts to increase the income of the common man and support the rural economy, he said. JTR JTR ABH

<ul><li>As organizations around the world are having to work-from-home due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown, the world is waking up to the many perks of working remotely.</li><li>However, working from office has its own perks too, writes <keyword id="565898" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Apurva-Purohit">Apurva Purohit</keyword>, President, <keyword id="896005" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jagran-Group">Jagran Group</keyword> and Author of Lady You’re the Boss.</li></ul>Work-from-home doyens, freelancers and all ardent advocates of the cult of individualism are having their 21 days in the sun currently. I must have now heard for the 100th time, how Isaac newton developed Calculus when all alone, ironically when Cambridge University was closed because of the plague; and Shakespeare wrote King Lear in splendid solitude. The advantages of WFH and solitary environs I am told, get the creative juices going like nothing else, allow for singularity (and thus sublimity) of thought, and a natural progression towards innovative greatness. Office working is for the dull, the mediocre, for those who seek the support of groups to camouflage their ordinariness under a common umbrella of triteness. In a work environment which excels at reducing everything to the mean. By implication this suggests that in this world there are drudges, and then there are geniuses, only the brilliant will never be found punching their cards in at 9 am, Monday to Friday, thank you very much. I beg to differ. Not because I am the command and control type of boss, currently being vilified and accused of wanting her troops around her to validate her existence. Nor am I a social butterfly, in fact I shun crowds, and neither do I suffer from meeting-itis. A typical working day for me entails sitting mostly alone in my ivory-tower, thinking deep thoughts, interspersed with carefully curated meetings once in a while. However, I do understand the power of culture, of organizations and of the meaning these give to an ordinary person’s life. Many of us want greatness, but only a few are destined to achieve it. We live, we work, we have a couple of friends, a few hobbies and one fine day life moves on without us. It is the organizations we work for, the teams we work with, the brands we help create, that give us our one point of connection with something larger than our very mundane existence. So many people I have known define themselves by the institutions they are associated with. Their colleges, their clubs, the organization or the industry they spent a bulk of their life working for. And what is wrong in that I wonder? To each of us is given the choice of where we draw our meaning from, which touchstone we want to hold on to, which wagon to hitch our star to; in our desire for greatness and legacy. If some of us derive our sense of self from fitting in as a piece in a jigsaw puzzle, why should we mock this? When both the piece is essential and the puzzle gets completed only when all its pieces are in place. In this age of polarization, both sides, the WFHome-rs and the WFOffice-ers have drawn battle lines and are not willing to concede an inch. Look at how isolation is helping me get in touch with my true essence and bringing out my best work, hollers the newly converted WFhomer. No noise, no fights over the AC temperature, and no time being wasted in shallow and meaningless collaboration meetings. The individual has triumphed, my long commute is dead and I am lolling in my PJs at noon, as God clearly ordained it to be! Ayn Rand would have been pleased at this surge of devotees at the altar of individualism. But as we sit in our sanitized home spaces, albeit in comfortable resort wear, seeing the face of humanity only at the other end of the screen, as we try to understand what is really being said by the tiny voices on the other side of the phone, I wonder whether we are increasing the white spaces between each other. For centuries we have relied on body language, on reading the expressions on a face to decide whether the party opposite is friend or foe. The time that we spent together as a tribe built informal channels of communication between us which then transformed into sub conscious thoughts that flowed easily between a team or a group familiar with each other. These implicit channels of communication became the framework on which the fragile threads of trust were warped and wefted; to create a winning team. Take a look at any sports team that has played with each other for a long time and you will know what I mean. As one player passes the ball the other is ready to run with it without either an exchange of words or a look being passed between the two. A voice at the end of a phone line, a distorted image on the video channel or even several written pieces of communication are not going to be able to replicate this knowledge and this understanding that we have imbibed over centuries, no matter how detailed the emoticon is and how closely it replicates the feeling you are trying to express. A team which mistrusts each other is no team at all and all the arguments in favor of WFH fade away against this one demand that work-life makes of us. The lone hunter cannot survive unless she is part of a larger tribe, and the tribe will not survive unless each member trusts the other. No doubt, social distancing will help us overcome the current health scare, and the faster we do so, the better we will succeed in taming this monster unleashed so unexpectedly and horrifically in our lives. However, let this not be a clarion call by the WFH supporters. In praise of WFO

New Delhi, Dec 31 () Urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene, the RSS affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) on Tuesday said Chinese firm Huawei should not be allocated airwaves for 5G network trials to ensure that India's security interests are not compromised.
 In a letter to Modi, the outfit claimed that there are ample evidence that lead to suspicion of Chinese companies indulging in exfiltrating sensitive information from, devices and equipment that it exports.
 The government has indicated that it will not bar any equipment suppliers, such as China's Huawei, in the upcoming trials for 5G, with Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday saying airwaves will be allocated to all telecom service providers for conducting trials of super-fast speed 5G networks.
 SJM's co-convener Ashwani Mahajan said the organisation has made representations to the department of telecommunications cautioning and alerting it of "various threats Huawei brings in".
 Emphasising that its words of caution were "either over-ruled or were deliberately ignored", the SJM said it requests Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his office to intervene as India's security interests can't be compromised in this digital era.
 Noting that 'Chinese information warfare doctrine' is the core of its military strategy, Mahajan said in the letter: "We request you to immediately restrict Huawei and other Chinese firms from operating in the Indian market and conducting 5G trials."
 He said the SJM understands that 5G is an important leap in technology and India must not miss this. But this still can be achieved by promoting domestic and indigenous players.
 The SJM said Huawei has been "banned in several countries" as more and more nations realise the full implications of having Huawei and Chinese companies in their communication networks.
 "There are ample evidence that lead to suspicion of Chinese companies indulging in the exfiltrating sensitive information from, devices and equipment that it exports.
 "Many of these countries suspect that Chinese companies indulge in stealing massive amounts of military and technological secrets through cyber-hacking from various countries," Mahajan claimed. JTR RT

It’s not the first time that the yoga guru has played the ‘Made in India’ card, however doing that out in the open with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Baba-Ramdevs-Patanjali-is-under-limelight-for-all-the-wrong-reasons-Heres-why/articleshow/52550015.cms">Patanjali's ads</a> is a first.

"Though we got political freedom 70 years back, economic freedom is still a dream," reads the print ad. "The way East India Company enslaved and looted us, multinational companies are still doing the same by selling soap, shampoo, toothpaste, cream, powder and similar daily items at exorbitant price."

RSS affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) also rolled out a protest against the new FDI policy on August 9, almost in line with the launch of this campaign. As per SJM, allowing foreigners to engage in food processing and marketing of agricultural produce will ultimately kill small shops and units in India.

On the other hand, All India Food Processors' Association (AIFPA), which has MNCs like Coca-Cola and Cadbury as its members, says that India is a free market which is open to everyone to do business.

"Every company whether MNC or homegrown has to operate in accordance (with regulations). It is a free market and every company can sell depending upon the trust of the consumer," AIFPA President Sagar Kurade told ET. "At the end, the consumer has to choose which product they believe in."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance government came into power with much fanfare on May 16, 2014. And within a year, the government claims to have passed as many as 46 bills in the Parliament in the past one year. However, the future of some of the key legislations of the <keyword id="2730532" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="NaMo-government">NaMo government</keyword> is still uncertain. BI India lists down five such bills that are still doubtful 

	<keyword id="87979" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Land-Bill">Land Bill</keyword>
 

	The land bill has created controversy for the NaMo government. The bill has been vehemently opposed by not just the opposition but also some of the allies of the present government as well. The bill has been submitted twice in the Parliament but was not passed due to strong opposition to some of the clauses in the Bill. It has now been referred to 20 member joint Parliamentary Panel, who will seek public opinion from every stakeholder involved.
 

	Labour Laws
 

	This one is a big shocker to the Modi government. The Modi government’s decision to allow companies, which hire up to 300 industrial labours, to hand them pink slips without an official sanction has not gone down well with the trade unions in the country. In fact, on Modi government’s first anniversary on May 26, 2015, trade unions will go on mass protests against the reforms announced in labour laws. These strikes are also in protest of the proposed land bill by the Modi government.
 

	Goods and Services Tax
 The Bill may have been passed in the Lok Sabha with two-third majority but it still needs to be cleared in Rajya Sabha as well as half of the states need to ratify it. However, we still need to watch out if the Bill gets the same response in the Upper House as BJP government lacks majority, which could be put the future of <keyword id="6354679" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="GST">GST</keyword> in doubt. However, the government is hopeful of implementing the Bill in 2016.

	This was the trump card that BJP played on during the pre-election times and had got massive support from trade bodies across the country. However, the Modi government’s U-turn in the matter, is now being criticised by their own people. RSS affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch has criticized the government for continuing with Manmohan Singh’s government’s stance in the issue. They have also asked the government to scrap the entire policy.
 

	Provident Fund 
 

	The government reduced the tax levied on Provident Fund from 30% to 10% but it could not provide any clarity on how it would do. Also, the government connected Provident Fund with the issue of black money but has been unable to provide paper that could establish any relation between two the issues.

The 4.7” Karbonn Mach One is another formidable rival to the Redmi 2. It also has a significant edge over the Redmi, both in terms of specs and price. It boasts of a 1.3 GHz MediaTek Quad Core Processor, 1 GB RAM and Android v4.4 OS that’s Upgradeable to v5 (Lollipop). It trumps the Redmi primarily with its superior 5 MP secondary camera and cheaper price of just Rs. 5,750. 
 
XOLO Q700S 
 
The 4.5” XOLO is definitely the weakest in the lot. At a far lower display resolution, internal storage of 4 GB, outdated Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS and deplorable 0.3 MP secondary camera, that too at a price of Rs. 5945, it’s fair to say the Redmi has knocked out the XOLO.
