Accordingly, the Board has appointed D <keyword id="120337" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sundaram" source="Orion">Sundaram</keyword> as the Lead Independent Director of the Company, effective Thursday based on the recommendation of the 'Nomination and Remuneration Committee'. Sundaram has been on the Board of Infosys since 2017. While Gadkari could not be contacted, some in BJP said his Twitter account had been hacked and there was some mischief behind the post.

Bedi, who is known to be close to BJP leaders, has not joined the party and proposing her name implies bringing an outsider for the post of Delhi CM. That could only lead to fresh infighting in the state unit.

Kiran Bedi To Be Delhi CM Candidate, Tweets Gadkari

Biocon chairman <keyword id="6413985" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kiran-Mazumdar-Shaw">Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw</keyword> has called for relaxing rules for start-ups to help them flourish, stating that there are several "hidden regulations" in the governments new policy. 

	"Even though the policy sounds very good, there are a lot of hidden regulations in that," she said at a session titled Beyond Jugaad, Making India Work, during the Jaipur Literature Festival here.
 She was in conversation with <keyword id="6355001" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="FICCI">FICCI</keyword> secretary general A Didar Singh, former <keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword> chairman D R Mehta, <keyword id="106216" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ford-India">Ford India</keyword> Chief Nigel Harris and author John Elliot. 

	Shaw said that although Make in India was a good strategy, the more important concern was to concentrate on finding manufacturing opportunities of the future.

	Mazumdar-Shaw also stressed for a reboot on the way different areas like manufacturing were regulated, citing the examples of IT and the Biotech sectors.
 

	"We have to reboot the way we regulate these sectors, whether it is manufacturing or any other sector. We cannot be regulating any sector the way we have been doing all these years," she said.
 

	"The IT sector has been a very successful sector and Biotech up to a point was very successful sector until it was not being regulated because it was flying under the radar. The moment regulators started entering this sector, you saw all the challenges that came up," she added.
 

	Mazumdar-Shaw also added that there was a need for promoting and creating an ecosystem to nurture innovation, stating that even though several innovations come out of the country, they fail because they are not ascribed value at the international level.
 

	"There is a huge standoff between business and science. While business thinks scientists are not doing enough, the scientists have limited market exposure. This is bad for the country," she said.
 

	Former SEBI chairman of Jaipur Foot fame D R Mehta pointed out that new jobs would not be created through manufacturing, but would come from the services sector.

	Mazumdar-Shaw also said the world is now talking about the fourth industrial revolution and India must look towards the future "sunrise areas".
 

	"The new sunrise areas are artificial intelligence, renewable energy and automation. We must exploit these new sectors, especially renewable energy. The opportunity is immense," she said.

After the dog yelped, Kiran turned and smiled while laughter could be heard from behind the camera. New Delhi, Nov 21 () Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, lead independent director of <keyword id="6354512" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword>, has settled with Sebi a case of alleged delay in making disclosure regarding change in her shareholding in the IT company by paying over Rs 3 lakh as settlement charge. Mazumdar Shaw, who is also a chairman of Biocon, was alleged to have violated provisions of the Prohibition of <keyword id="6360088" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Insider-Trading">Insider Trading</keyword> (PIT) regulations. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had conducted an examination in the matter of Infosys and observed that Mazumdar Shaw had delayed making the requisite disclosures with respect to change in her shareholding in the company.
 However, before proceeding further and initiating proceedings against her, the regulator sent notice of settlement to her, intimating that the proceedings may be settled and disposed of upon filing of an application settlement mechanism of Sebi along with remittance of settlement amount of over Rs 3.01 lakh.
 Accordingly, she filed a settlement application without admitting or denying the default and remitted Rs 3,01,758 in September 2019.
 "This order disposes of the proceedings that may be initiated for the defaults," Sebi said in an order passed on Wednesday.
 Besides, it added that enforcement actions including commencing proceedings against the applicant may be taken if any representation made by the applicant is subsequently discovered to be untrue.
 In February, Infosys had said that Mazumdar Shaw had inadvertently through her portfolio management services sold 1,600 shares of the company without obtaining pre-clearance of trade.
 Following a review by the audit committee of the company's board of directors that determined that there was a violation of the Infosys' insider trading policy and the PIT norms, a penalty of Rs 9.5 lakh was imposed on Mazumdar Shaw. SRS MR

The Hindu reports that 12-year old Kiran (not his real name, apparently) ran away from home because he was afraid of taking his school exams.
While on his own he became an entrepreneur, selling chips.
Narrating his experience to the volunteers of BOSCO, a city child helpline which rescued him, Kiran said he alighted from the train at Yelahanka, took an autorickshaw to Hoody and had breakfast there before walking to K.R. Puram railway station.
There he saw hawkers selling chips, and bought a few packets with the Rs. 50 he had and sold them. According to him, he earned a profit of Rs. 30 on an investment of Rs. 50. Excited with his first earning, Kiran bought more packets of chips and sold them. In three days, he is said to have earned Rs. 750.
After figuring out that he could make money trading chips, he really doubled down on growth, reinvesting all of his earnings, spending none of it, while completely forgetting about bathing, his clothes, and his family:
"Excited about the earnings, Kiran had totally forgotten his exam and family. He had not even changed his dress or taken a bath as he was immersed in the business. Unlike other runaway children, he did not even spend money. He was investing all that he earned into business," Mr. Ravindran said.
It's really too bad that we don't know his real name, because it's a safe bet that this kid is going to be outrageously successful in the future. Probably he'll become a billionaire. When he does, this is the kind of story people will point to and note that it was obvious all along.

New Delhi, Apr 18 () COVID-19 will reboot the world into virtual reality and after the crisis, work from home models are likely to continue and business travel is likely to be curtailed as virtual meetings have proved to be just as effective, Biocon Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw on Saturday said. In a blog post, she said mobile and internet banking have also seen a surge since the viral outbreak. The new world order will now become a virtual reality, she added. "The seismic events unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic will have a powerful impact on the world we live in, changing it in ways we had never imagined were possible. The economic damage is likely to be unprecedented," Mazumdar-Shaw said. The world economy, worth USD 90 trillion at the start of the current financial year, would have lost USD 5 trillion and moved into recession by the time the next financial year starts, she added. "COVID-19 is the reboot button that will trigger a system-wide overhaul. A year from now, the world we will live in will be very different. It will impact how we live, how we work, and how we use technology," Mazumdar-Shaw said. To quote a recent McKinsey report, "In this unprecedented new reality, we will witness a dramatic restructuring of the economic and social order in which business and society have traditionally operated," she added. This COVID-19 outbreak is a lesson that technology has many faces and being besotted with only one application of computational science is dangerous, Mazumdar-Shaw said. "For humanity to survive, we will need a multi-disciplinary approach to advancing science and technology, combining biotechnology, biomedical technologies, biological sciences, environmental sciences, etc," she added. The novel coronavirus has exposed the huge shortcomings in public healthcare systems, especially in developed countries where they have largely remained static since World War II, she added. Mazumdar-Shaw said the governments will have to bring in policies to address essential healthcare infrastructure, strategic reserves of key supplies, and contingency planning for medical equipment, diagnostics, drugs and vaccines. "COVID-19 will also cast a long shadow on our social and cultural lives," she added. What repercussions these changes will have on the shape of human society only time can tell, Mazumdar-Shaw said. The post-COVID-19 world is unlikely to look like the "normal" we have grown accustomed to in the recent years, she added. "Ultimately, the greatest lesson that COVID-19 can teach humanity is that we are all in this together, that what affects a single person anywhere affects everyone everywhere, that as homo sapiens we need to think and act unitedly rather than worrying about race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, economic status, and such artificial groupings," Mazumdar-Shaw said.
