<ul><li>Indian state-owned broadcaster DD National is all set to broadcast Chhota Bheem starting today. </li><li>The popular animation series will air every afternoon between 2 pm to 2:30 PM on DD National from April 17 to May 3, 2020. </li><li>Indian entertainment channel <keyword id="10822" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pogo">POGO</keyword> which is the creator of the show, partnered with Doordarshan. </li></ul>Doordarshan is leaving no stone unturned to engage millions of people during the lockdown. After bringing back all its popular shows including Ramayana and Mahabharata, DD National is all set to broadcast Chhota Bheem, the cartoon show. It has partnered with Hungama Play to offer a video streaming service to its users. The service offers short-format content, movies, TV shows and short films across genres in more than 15 languages like Hindi, English, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati and more. The content will be available on the Snapdeal app for free. “The world is going through a major crisis and people are advised to stay at home for safety. As a mobile-first economy, smartphones have proved to be indispensable in India, helping people access news, essential services and streaming platforms. Our association with Snapdeal enables us to offer users wholesome entertainment led by an incredible library of short-format videos, movies, TV shows and Hungama Originals,” said Siddhartha Roy, COO, Hungama Digital Media. Snapdeal’s entry in the OTT sector comes at a time when e-commerce has been severely hit due to the coronavirus pandemic. After a lot of back and forth, the Indian government decided to not allow e-commerce platforms to deliver non-essential items during the coronavirus lockdown. With only essentials being ordered and increased competition in the grocery sector, e-commerce platforms are bracing themselves for a massive loss. Snapdeal’s rivals – Flipkart and Amazon already have a presence in the video streaming market. Amazon has its global offering Amazon Prime Video, which is a big hit in India too competing with Netflix and Hotstar. Meanwhile, Flipkart recently entered the sector with Flipkart Video and started producing original content.
